Moving Karlsson back to Canada
Just to clarify, I’m a Sens fan so I posted this with my own bias... I think Karlsson is still a top 10 defenceman in the NHL and Ottawa would be robbing SJ blind in this trade.
Sure, Karlsson has had a lot of injury problems and that can’t be ignored but when healthy he was the best player on the Sharks.
I just can’t see how he can succeed in SJ with that contract and where the team is heading. He and his family live Ottawa as a city and are in fact here now. I think him ‘coming home’ would be a reset for him and the Ottawa fans too. Coupled with those two high picks this year, the Sens roster would be lethal.
Anyway, I think SJ would also benefit because they can just accept the dunk cost of the deal and have a couple picks to play with. Also, Gruden will be a decent player in 3-4 seasons when SJ’s rebuild is kinda over.
Anyway, just my opinion

I would do that trade hands down... I’d love EK back on the team and Laf + Byfeild would be insane... leave Galchenyuk at the door

Ottawa should not move the SJ pick for Marner 1 for 1... I'd add Formenton or any other prospect not named Norris or Batherson

Question for MTL Fans
Unless the other Ottawa pick is #2 or #3 then you don’t make that deal.
If suppose Ottawa has 1 and 2 though I’d say
To MTL: 1st overall
To OTT: 10th overall, Suzuki, Caulfield
It would take that level of package

NJ should say yes!
I'd trade Zaitsev + 2020 Dal 2nd for PK...
PK's contract fits better with the Sens horizon. In 3 years from now we'd have to pay Lafrenier (hopefully) and a few others and having Z's contract currently on the books blocks $5M in cap space

Operation - Italian Job
Ottawa doesn't need more 2nd rd picks, they need high end talent.
If the SJ pick is a top 10 pick that will be much more valuable to the Sens than a bunch of picks in the next round. Plus, in a few years Ottawa is going to have an issue with contract management so they will most likely be looking to package a few of their picks into higher ones to manage bodies and timelines for entering the system.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>Why should OTT deal Logan Brown though?</div></div>
He needs a change in scenery... If CBJ wants a C prospect plus two high 2nd rd picks for let's say the 8th overall pick maybe the Sens can get Drysdale, Rossi and one of Byfield/Lafreniere (if things fall into place)

Honestly, I don't think NJ needs Subban as a distraction the way that the reporters are talking about him. Subban is better than Zeitsev for sure but the difference in cap hit and the term makes this appealing for both sides I think....

Subban and Chabot would be fun. Plus Ottawa has so much room to take on his contract that you can't even tell he makes $9 million.
Just not sure the value is there to acquire him. He's hard to gauge I think</div></div>
I agree that Subban is overpaid... but I think the trade is neutral for both teams. Subban however would be a great ambassador for the Sens and even Eugene loves him... I'd buy a 76 jersey :)
