If you watch the Greene-Dobson pair closely, Greene’s lack of mobility is a big reason why that pairing gets hemmed in. He cannot evade pressure, so he gives Dobson a suicide pass or throws it around the boards which usually results in a turnover. He only brings value on the PK.
I thought hickey did really well in his 6 games this season. I would love to see a hickey-Dobson pairing. The problem is Lou/trotz likely value coburn over hickey 🤦🏼♂️
I would’ve traded a 5th for mete or Hutton

agreed, but lou and trotz value size over skill. Mete >>>>>> greene
We're in trouble if Coburn gets more than a game or 2 in the playoffs.

Senators claimed him so it wouldn't have mattered if the Isles tried to, the waiver order is the inverse of the standings, Lou likely knew Mete wasn't an option.

The Coburn deal was pointless in my opinion he's not any better than Hickey or Aho. There were better defenseman that were an actual upgrade available and a few of them were even on waivers for free.</div></div>
In the limited time he's been there he has done well I think. Keep in mind, there's no way he's fully comfortable with the system after only a few days. He wins crucial faceoffs, which is a skill Barzal doesn't have at the moment, and can play solid defense. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Palmieri swap places in the lineup, but I'm still waiting to see how they play once they've had real time to learn the system (like during this 3 day off period).

Close to healthy, isn't healthy. He opted to play both Palmeiro and Zajac on the 3rd line because they just met the team this morning and have no clue how the Islanders system works. It makes sense to allow them to get up to speed, because they both looked really lost out there tonight.</div></div>
Seriously. There are a lot of people on this site who complain about Trotz and Lou as if we don't have the best tandem in the NHL right now. I trust both those guys with my team.

Zajac palmieri bailey line
I’d personally switch Nelson with Pageau, but otherwise, I like it. Maybe Pageau is the elusive LW1 (who knows?), but in the mean time, I love that middle 6. That 2nd line is all scorers, and not many 3rd lines can compare to Bailey-Zajac-Palmieri. This team is ridiculously deep on offense. All we need now is a 7th D.

lines without lee
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rokk</b></div><div>I agree that with them that they could use size on that line, but size that can score. None of those you mentioned can at least consistently.
I agree they should move Beau to his wing, but if I'm being a 100% honest. I think Wahlstrom should get the spot on that line. He's got a wicked one time shot and Barzals an elite play maker. Plus Walstrom seems to enjoy the LW at least it's the side he plays on the PP. Maybe leave Beau where he is since the Nelson line is actually playing better since his return.</div></div>
I agree Wahlstrom should play with barzal but im trying to be realistic - I'm not a fan of the beau-nelson-bailey line. I don't think Bailey and beau have chemistry , I know they produced a couple of nice goals in the playoffs but over the last two years that line has been underwhelming. Wahlstrom and Bailey play at a similar pace and wahlstrom has such a quick release he doesn't need much space to get it off.
Lee-barzal-eberle have been great this season, but adding beau with his speed on that line is going to push the D back and allow for more scoring off the rush.

The kids need to grow and the only way for them to do that is to play, but don't throw all the rookies to the wolves at the same time unless you're ready for a rebuild. Honestly I think if the Isles miss the playoffs this season, maybe they should consider it. They've got a pretty descent young core ready to go led by Barzal.</div></div>
yeah I see your point. I guess I don't see dobson a rookie and this Is a veteran group as it is, so I don't see putting bellows + Wahlstrom in the top 6 as throwing them to the wolves. Its actually a harder role when theyre put into a situation where they have to completely change their game with less talented line mates.

I was beginning to wonder if Trotz switched systems that how out of sync they looked to me. That and they kept entering our own net hindering Varley more than they were helping them. But like you said it's just one game and there was no pre-season either.
I wasn't impressed with that whole 4th line to be honest, normally they come out flying land a crap ton of hits and set the pace of the game, they came out limping this time.
And yeah Eberle frustrates the hell out of me..lol..he needs to seriously works on his release. Just watch the rest of the team, they get the puck and it's off their sticks instantly. Eberle gets the puck, he pauses looks for the shot THEN shoots it. I think he's score more if he just shot it without over thinking it first.
But anyways, still happy they won.</div></div>
I’m just happy the guys who are supposed to drive our success from the back end (pulock + Dobson) had great games. That bodes well for the future. The rest of the D core should improve as they play more games.
I’m almost positive eberle hesitates because of trotz quality over quantity approach to taking shots. If you go and watch his highlights from the 17-18 season when weight was the coach, he was was more of a risk taker and he wasn’t afraid to shoot right away.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rokk</b></div><div>Martin bleeds blue and orange and is worth every penny he got in my opinion. I'm worried more about Greene getting the same deal it's doubtful, but we all know Lou loves his favorites like the potential Parise trade. GMing 101never trade for an unmovable contract you can't get out of <strong>Lou</strong>.
As far as the Hickey for Byron deal, nah the entire point of trading Hickey is dump his cap, not take on more with Byrons. Hickey for future considerations/free makes more sense or just package him with Ho-Sang.</div></div>
If we can turn Hickey's dead money into actual, usable money, especially for a player of Byron's ilk, then I'm all for it. He is a little more expensive, but that's a trade off you make if he's producing. And no one is taking Hickey unless the Islanders are taking money back or sending a legit pick or prospect with him and JHS doesn't have that kind of value. Either we're stuck with him or we throw him in in a trade like this.
