nope. wrong. they love the Mete part.
They would've done Mete for Barzal straight up if it wouldn't incite a riot on long island.

DIVISION RESULTS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>I'd still take the McDavid, Pettersson, Matthews, and Draisaitl lines over them easily. Suzuki obviously improves but it's not gonna be enough to move Montreal from a bubble team to 1st in their division, Like come on man you're clearly super biased</div></div>
no... Suzuki doesn't make MTL a division winner. The four 20 goal scorers do that. The four solid lines do that. The bubble playoff performance did that. Do you watch the games? Or check the stats and come to conclusions that way? Along with the addition of one of the best backups of this decade, backing up a top 3 goalie in the league.
Just keep sleeping on MTL and watch your betting funds fly away in the disappointment of Western Conference teams.

lets just forget about the Tatar-Danault-Gallagher line that lead the league in 5v5 goals and possession, Plus Suzuki, who will clearly improve, along with KK. KK is the only uncertainty.

Imagine thinking this is not a playoffs team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>The thing about the Canadian division is that the Oilers and Leafs, while not having difference makers in the bottom 6, have a significantly more stacked top 6, and the Jets have stars in their top 6 as well as the best goalie in the league, and they also have wildcards in Heinola and Samberg who could step up, similar to Romanov. So right off the bat you are already fighting for 3rd place in the division at best</div></div>
keep overrating western teams, Canada. Just place all of your bets that way!
If EDM couldn't beat Chicago, I don't see them having a waking chance at beating WPG or CAL.
Western Canada is going to get a rude awakening in regards to the western vs eastern conference.

Thread:
Imagine thinking this is not a playoffs team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>Well most other teams don’t have difference makers on the third line.
Canadian division:
Calgary : not really
EDM = mcdavid and Leon (we’ll see where RNH plays)
Vancouver : I mean no real difference makers
Ottawa : rookies could be the key
MTL : a lot possibility
Toronto : not exactly, top 6 heavy with bottom 6 being question marks and vets - Robertson could make a difference depending on where he plays
Winnipeg : no real difference maker in their bottom 6
Now the Atlantic is a different story but idk if we’ll see the Atlantic (but still not many teams with a difference maker on their third)</div></div>
Do not forget about Elias Pettersson, he is a star.
The addition of Toffoli takes pressure off of Anderson, as he is not the only player who has a scoring touch on the team. Toffoli can put up 20 goals minimum on a team like this.
You nailed it though. In order for this team to be a playoff team, these are the requirements:
- Price is Price. He cannot be short of extraordinaire. Jake Allen will help, but it is still on Carey.
- Romanov steps up. We saw that Chariot is good at what he does, but that is about it. The left side of defense has been ATROCIOUS for years since Markov left, Edmundson and Romanov NEED to solidify the LD.
- Scoring increases. Gallagher needs to score 25+, as does Anderson and Toffoli.
- Tatar needs to be the trustworthy point-getter he has consistently been in MTL.
- Petry and Weber need to be solid 100% of the time, Fleury/Mete/Kulak/Oullette/Brook will follow by example.
- Drouin NEEDS TO STEP UP. AND NOW. Not here and there, not great and then injured to return from injury much worst. It needs to be Suzuki-level playmaking. MTL pays the guy 5.5mil to put up 50 points and no better. Habs fans have been waiting on Drouin for too long. If he can't figure it out, he HAS TO GO.
- Suzuki and Kotkaniemi continue their exponential rise in development and potential. Suzuki to take a much bigger role in terms of offense. The guy is the face of the future, in my opinion.
- There NEEDS TO BE an overall Champion mentality across the entire roster. Even scratches need to want to win.
In my opinion (yes, I am biased lol) this team is slept on. Big time. People discuss the Canadian division and tend to put MTL in the bottom 4. No. I wouldn't be surprised for a second if MTL dominated. People underestimate the privilege of having a game-stealing goaltender, let alone Carey Price. The guy pulls off magic, numerous games have been won by MTL when they had NO RIGHT winning, but Carey held it down. Now add one of the best BACKUPS in the league. A rested Price, with sound/solid defense (which relies upon the performance of Romanov, Weber, Chariot, Edmundson, Petry), and a team that can stay in opposing teams offensive longer then 30 seconds a game to ACTUALLY score some goals, that to me sounds like a cup contender!
BUUUUUUUUUUUUT lets not get ahead of ourselves and just wait and see. Could all go to ****! I highly doubt that, but possible!

most of them are terrible contracts. It's a little ridiculous to consider Quick, Weber, Myers, and Anderson as bad contracts but it is hard to argue 9mil for skinner is not good.

Romanov will prove you wrong.
Romanov will easily be the no, 1 D by the end of the season or the playoffs. Please, REALIZE what privilege us habs fans are to have this guy.
Chariot and Edmundson will battle for their jobs this season. Depending on who performs, you can expect one of them to be traded to clear cap for an asset this 2021 offseason.
There is no time for Bergevin to waste so expect a completely different team next year.
