What does liljegren add to a hockey team. He doesn’t pk, he doesn’t play on the pp, he can’t break into the top 4, and he has mind boggling **** ups every couple of games. He’s a good d man but if U can use him to add zadorov and tanev (players who actually provide unquestionable value to team defence) without emptying the pick/prospect pool you absolutely do it.

They don’t fit the win now timeline. Pretty good players that will end up being liabilities in the playoffs.

24 years old playing 18 minutes a night. 1.4 cap hit. Rfa after the season. Perfect addition to a d core that will likely loose pesce. For a late first. Leafs traded sandin for a 1st ++ and liljegren is a better player than him.
Even if you don’t trade pesce, wouldn’t you rather have liljegren than jalen chatfield on the ice in the conference finals? Jalen chatfield?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurebobmckenzie</b></div><div>We don’t need LDs either. Pettersson, Joseph, Smith/Ruuta. Dubas likes to fix from within so i doubt he will grab a top 4 guy via trade nor free agency. I can see him making Joseph the 2LD and giving Smith a shot at the 3LD. We only need Timmins if we find somebody that wants Ruuta. If you’re trying to move cap to the Pens it’s Murray not Brodie</div></div>
Playing Joseph or smith top 4 minutes arent win now moves. Pittsburgh is going to try and surround the core with veteran players, not 23/24 year olds with very little experience no ? I thought the whole point of bringing in dubas was to try to optimize the core until crosby/Malkin/letang contracts are done and then enter a rebuild

Brodie has played LD his whole career other than the playoffs this year. Acquiring Brodie is a win now move for pitt.

Luckily the cap is supposed to go up 4-5 million heading into 24-25. Once Tavares 11 million comes off the books there would be no issues.

York is project to be a top pairing guy, Cutter projects to be a 1C. Frost and Cates can be 2C and 3C respectively. Farabee, Brink, Tippett, Foerster are all guys that have 2nd line capabilities. Hart is a franchise goalie and Errson will be one of the best backups in the league not to mention Kosolov is a top goalie prospect. We draft 7OA this year and could potentially hit Michkov if not a great player regardless. Flyers need to work on their blue line for sure but their prospect pool has all of the capabilities to turn into a really good team a few years down the line.</div></div>

I’d be more worried about the Leafs in 4 years when by then all of the stars jumped ship to successful playoff teams rather than the Flyers in 4 years who will be coming out of their rebuild while the Leafs will be entering one.</div></div>

Not to mention JVR leaving is $7M. Atkinson deal is up soon which is another like $5-6M. That’s like $35M in cap space lol. We will be able to pay every one of our prospects. By the timeline you just gave me all your prospects will be 28 years old putting up 40 points a year. Sounds like a revolving door of last in your division

The leafs have too many wingers. They also don’t have terrible contracts littering the organization like Philly. (Hayes, ristolainen, couturier who can’t stay healthy). How u gonna pay these so called superstar prospects u guys have !
