Toronto has no prospects and their firsts are worthless. They have nothing except their top 6 that would be interesting for other teams. They dont have anything to offer Dallas or any team to get that caliber of a goalie. You may as well try to offer sheet him, but Toronto doesnt even have the cap space to make an unbeatable offer

Helping Others Helping Ourselves
The Petry case is confounding and that's why it causes a lot of consternation here.
On one side you have the dynamic of supply and demand. There is literally nobody available on the right side of defence at a cheap cost after the Letang signing.
On the other side, no teams have the money to fit him in their salary structure besides 3-4 teams.
At this point you have to go by Hughes word and that is he is NOT retaining any salary in a trade, and he wont pay to move him. That clearly indicates without the return he demands, there is no deal.
We saw with the Islanders rumours that the 13th pick was available, and, indeed, traded to the Habs. Hughes didnt budge by trading Anderson which was reported by Seravalli and Lebrun as a monster ask above a high pick.
Petry wont be traded for any less than what Hughes demands. That is something that ppl should have learned here by now.
The same story happened with Lehkonen. Everyone here said they wouldnt get a 1st round pick in return. Hughes never waivered in his return requests and Lebrun had an entire article on theathletic dedicated to the process from the Sakic and Hughes sides.
Sakic didn't want to move a pick and prospect but it occurred.
Hughes with that whole ordeal and now the courageous selection of Juraj as the whole market was chanting for Wright, that shows that he will not be cornered, whatsoever.
For people not to learn by now that Petry wont be given away is borderline sociopathic and those ppl should be ignored.

I'm not a Dallas fan but Nils a Moron if he gives up a 1 for age 35-37 seaons of a declining Jeff Petry making 6+per who wants the F*** out of Canada and EVERYONE knows it.
Edit" team trading for Petry know they have a Montrel over a barrel If they don't trade Petry and force him to stay away from his Family it will make a lot of non french canadians think seriously about signing the on top of being by far the heaviest taxed market in the NHL

Hopes Based On Rumours
Petry trade doesn’t work for both sides. With the second going back Montreal isn’t getting enough overall value for Petry. And Dallas shouldn’t be offering 18OA unless they’re getting a younger player. I wouldn’t give more than a second for Petry. Dobby is likely going to be on LTIR after his surgery, but we can move him elsewhere if we need to

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Keiran</b></div><div>The alternative trade with Dallas would be Antonio Stranges and a high pick (1st round likely). Hughes will be getting good value for Petry no doubt.</div></div>
Cool. Dallas will go trade for a slightly worse Barrie then. Will cost less to trade & less against the cap. Not trading a 1st or any of Bourque, Johnston, or Stankoven for Petry. If Dallas were dedicated to overpaying for a RD until they’re 37, they’d be better off shelling out the extra $1M to re-sign Klingberg.

Only way I could maybe even consider the 1st for Petry is if they retain half. Even than idk but Petry to Dallas at 6.25 doesn’t make sense. Would rather just go for one of Barrie, Deangelo, or Bear

Even if we’re moving Dell I’d hope it would be a swap to NY for Nils or somebody younger than Burns or Petry

Rebuild
There's a case to be made that Robertson is better than Marchand RIGHT NOW, and that's before taking age & future into account so you're already fleecing Dallas there AND THEN you're going to have them also send picks to Boston?
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt since this is your first post on CapFriendly and just assume that you meant to add someone other than Jason Robertson to the deal. Sometimes our mouses slip and we select players we didn't mean to select. It's okay, it happens to all of us.

Oh lord what is this? Robertson has miles more value than Marchand, the fact that Dallas is adding is even worst.
Stars counter with Pavelski for Pastrnak, a 2nd and a 3rd.

I don't think you're getting Bourque for Lundkvist. I think the most Dallas would give up for him in terms of prospects is Dellandrea.

getting prospects
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MTLaveragefan</b></div><div>Bourque probably got a 40% chance to make an impact at the NHL level - Petry had a rough year on a rough team with lots of issue with his family - he's usually a top 4 Dman who scored 40+pts in shorten seasons.
He's worth a good prospect like Bourque, however - I can understand why the Stars don't want to trade him</div></div>
Johnston and Stankoven are no gos. Bourque and Dell I’d be willing to move for a young top four D. Petry isn’t young. I have nothing against Petry and know how good he is. Giving away young cost controlled talent for old players isn’t a good idea unless we are legit contenders and we aren’t. I’m okay with the fact that Dallas needs playoff revenue to stay in business. I think we’re still a playoff team with some smart free agent signings. That doesn’t require moving prospects. And we finally have some good ones. I think trading for Bear and adding a forward makes this team better than a big Petry trade. Now and in the future. I sincerely appreciate your productive and respectful response

Harley will be better than Burns before Burns’ deal is up. Take it and run? I leave it all day long. I’ll be calling for Nill’s job if he trades any of Johnston, Bourque, Stankoven, Harley, or Grush for an old defenseman
