Otherwise, I really like this.</div></div>
Lehkonen, being an RFA is due a 20% raise, I think? Puts him at 2,880,000 at least. McNiven and Poehling fall in the same boat, but maybe for younger guys this doesn't come into play- I'm not 100% sure. Could send McNiven down but in all likelihood we will be using a 3rd keeper at some point!
If everyone performed well it could be a competitive roster, would still not be a favourite, though.

Hronek-Vanecek
Have read some saying Caps might move a goalie and aim to present Seattle with viable defenders.
In this situation Caps would then protect Hronek and expose Schultz along with Dillon... how much does Detroit value Hronek vs a goalie with potential.

Revised it; went with the simple Tatar signing, and added Brossoit as well because I also added a trade involving Vanecek

Naturally. I'm just saying it kinda sucks to have to cough that up for a guy whose struggling, and just hope he turns it around.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingLundqvist30</b></div><div>It’s risky for an expansion team to give up their 1st round pick because that could very well be a lottery pick. It’s not worth it IMO.</div></div>
Definitely, but the FA market isn't super inspiring- this is more interesting than just signing Tatar or something like that, and potentially greater rewards. I've also seen suggestions that next year draft is going to be nearly as much of a crap shoot as this year with the reduced amount of scouting time that has been available.

I thought it was already announced 84-88M for next season, so slight increase anyway... 100M he cited doesnt seem too near atm though

You think? Bennett seems decent, he at least makes hits when he doesn't make points. He's not going to produce like Toffoli is now, but I can imagine 25G in 82 game season ... Kinda thought Florida is likely to match at 6.5 the way he is fitting in there.
I am not seeking people to comment, they can if they like, and I am happy to reply. I am sorry I do not have thousands of posts already, and that I haven't used these tools much before- but I am not a troll.

The problem is that they dont have enough signed UFAs exposed... so something has to give. Exchanging Lucic for Backlund doesn't change that number? Someone else has to be exposed, or they have to trade for someone who is signed through next season and leave them exposed in order for that to work.

if they protect Backlund they lose Mangiapane or Dube most likely instead... I agree that they would want to keep Backlund because they lack C depth, but community here seems to think Mangiapane and Dube will be protected over him

With the 7.3M cap space, I'd be chasing; Saad, Tatar, Palmieri, or Hoffman... assuming RFAs like Bennett, Fiala, Buchnevich all get taken care of by their current owners.

ya i didnt orginally protect gio either, and having Lucic waive still only buys you protection for Mangiapane OR Backlund... not both. I can see why Lucic might waive to go closer to home, but I don't see why Seattle would pick him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>flamesfan</b></div><div>This is terrible the flames will 100% be protecting mangiapane, they will protect gaudreau, tkachuk, lindholm, mangiapane, dube, monahan and backlund for forwards and andersson, tanev and hanifin for defense. Mangiapane has been the flames best player this year there’s no way they are protecting him. Also hertl will be protected and so will lindblom</div></div>
I see Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Monahan, Lucic, Lindholm, Hanifin, Andersson, Gio ... but at this point you are out of exposed+signed FAs ... so looks like Backlund and Mangiapane available, barring a trade before expansion. I def agree theyd like to keep Mangiapane and Dube, but you have you rely on Lucic waiving his NMC, and even then you still end up losing Backlund, which although I am not a fan, that 2C spot is pretty important for Calgary atm

Maybe Laine, Dunn and Reese I took a bit cheap? but 5.5M left for them to share... Laine won't exceed that compensation bracket unless someone really wants to gamble(sorry didn't do my researcu on the min QO?). I could see Dunn get over 4M, and Reese over 3M though as well.
Burakovsky and Hertl could end up protected, but you'd end up exposing Donskoi/Kadri instead, or Kane/Meier- which would be suitable replacements here in my opinion. Dumba also seems like one that the Wild would want to protect, but they have some NMC on the back end, and some younger forwards that also need protecting...
If Lindblom is protected then you slot in JVR or Voracek instead? Seems like they are stuck exposing someone good.
