Eichel to MTL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisjulienstillhere</b></div><div>Pick a lane. Either Eichel is some magical player we’re the return has to be enormous, meaning that adding him to a team with talent but no star power would in fact make them dangerous, or Eichel wouldn’t make a difference.
Not saying they’ll be tampa but...half decent, especially if we moved prospects instead of toffoli
Also Habs are tied with the jets while have 9 ot losses</div></div>
The concepts of
1. That isn’t enough for eichel
And
2. The habs aren’t a player away from being dangerous
Are not mutually exclusive. The habs are really bad. Eichel is very good. Eichel isn’t enough to make the habs good.

Eichel to MTL counter
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scabitant</b></div><div>Toffoli has pretty high value with his contract, and Buffalo needs a C in return ... plus some picks to help sweeten the pot.
Really hard to move Toffoli the way he is playing, but if you want to get something, you gotta give something! Decent chance Toffoli's value is never higher than it is this off-season too.
Montreal has to let Tatar and Danault walk. Poehling, Evans, Mysak, Fleury- or players with similar ELC cap hits have to fill out Montreal's bottom end. They have 2.5-3M cap space with those rookies in place, if they resign Armia at 3M, and Lehkonen at his QO rate.</div></div>
Make it a first and Romanov (instead of KK and a second), and I think this could be done. MTL needs offense to go with Eichel, and BUF needs a guy who can score and better D. I know MTL fans don't want to wind up with another Drouin / Sergachev situation, but I think this is better for both, since Romanov won't be top four for the next couple years.

If gms values him at that then why was he given away for nothing at half retained?
Also, overall he is an extremely high net negative. Worse defensive defensman and an absolute turnover machine. Secondary assists don't make him worth 4m

I’m not sure where you’re getting the 6 million number for Copp. That’s absurd. He’s looking at 4-4.5 million.
Pionk likely takes like an 7 or 8 year deal at 5.5 million. They’d just bring up berdin if brossoit leaves in FA. Little likely is on LTIR. Perreault will get under 2 million. I don’t mind bringing helm and sutter in for cheap though.

I’m not french, and I have no idea how that has anything to do with anything.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scabitant</b></div><div>You are right, I didnt consider the term properly in that regard at all! As for Dadonov, its just a different take, I like him but I thought he would have fit better. All they would have to do is sign Mete before the draft date for those 3 dmen to be an option though, it doesn't seem too far out of the question.</div></div>
Why would they protect Brown OR Zaitsev over Mete? Mete is miles better than either, and definitely gets taken, when the other two definitely do not.
Also I think Dadonov is gonna be completely fine. He spent most of this year with White and Paul, which just wasn't a role he's going to be effective in. It's been a nightmare season by his standards, but he's still on pace for 20 goals in a full season. Next year he's probably going to start with Tim Stützle, who I think is going to break out BIG next year. All the tools are still there with Dadonov, and I don't think he could replicate the abysmal assist numbers if he tried. I do have <em>some</em> concerns about who the C is on that line though. White would be fine, but I don't love it, Pinto is the highest skill option but I don't know that he's ready for that, and Tierney probably isn't on the team next year. I actually kinda think they should kick tires on Sean Monahan.

Stop walking Batherson and Tkachuk right to UFA status during their primes
They also can't protect all 3 of those defensemen under expansion draft rules.
Why tf are we protecting Tierney over Dadonov.
Also those UFA signings are so unnecessary and Granlund and Saad are both overpays

If they can continue to produce probably a great prospect and a 2nd or maybe a low first from desperate teams. I doubt Dallas misses, but if they do Nill is 100% getting fired.

agreed. Kassian is a 4th liner on any other team, and well overpaid as McDavid's McSorley. EDM has to add a lot for this trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>I absolutely agree that Buffalo shouldn’t be trading any assets just to save cap, but how on earth is Drouin an issue?</div></div>
Drouin's compete level has been an issue through out his career. He's a player that you never know what you're going to get when he's on the ice. He has immense talent, but an attitude issue, and there are many games where he just floats around. Tampa knew what they had, and weren't afraid to move him, which says something about his character. He's underperforming to his contract (not in the way Skinner is, but still), and it seems he now has off ice issues as well.

You’d save some cap space by sending down McNiven. Also I’d say Lehkonen and Poehling would probably cost a little less, and KK would cost a little more.
Otherwise, I really like this.

Hronek-Vanecek
I'd put Hronek in DET's top 5 valued players. He's not going anywhere. They have other options on goalies that would cost them a lot less. And if they really wanted Vanecek in the Mantha trade instead of taking one of the picks

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scabitant</b></div><div>Naturally. I'm just saying it kinda sucks to have to cough that up for a guy whose struggling, and just hope he turns it around.
Definitely, but the FA market isn't super inspiring- this is more interesting than just signing Tatar or something like that, and potentially greater rewards. I've also seen suggestions that next year draft is going to be nearly as much of a crap shoot as this year with the reduced amount of scouting time that has been available.</div></div>
They could get a Laine Level player in 3 year I bet with their Pick and be would be on an ELC and an RFA... So I wouldn't do it.

Incorrect. Cap will remain the same next year. 81.5. Likely to remain at that for a few years. Probably until 2025.
