2021 Pittsburgh Penguins - The Ulf amp Tocchet Re-made Trades - 30yrs Later
Philly declines simply because Laughton is a lot more valuable than the other 2.
On a related note, it's kind of weird hearing Friedman say that when he never even lived in Philly and he doesn't even live in Pittsburgh now, he's in Cranberry. Like, it ain't the Flyers fault you moved to an area you don't like lmao. Also worth noting after he left lots of reports came out that he was generally not liked by other players in the org.

ANA and VAN decline. nothing there for them to do that.
That's a bad return on MP. They can get more than a 4C type for him and they don't need any more defensemen. They got enough.

Send Gaudette and Woo to Anaheim instead of Virtanen and Benn. Probably Gruden too.

I like the STL. deal, getting Granlund scares me bc he could just walk and we're left with nothing, and I doubt Ottawa says yes to anything involving Matheson

Friedman and McKenzie are very crafty at what they say too, they really dont ever hang their hats on claims...they always phrase it like If I were This team I would look in making a trade for that player, Or that player would make a lot of sense on that team, I wonder if their GM is going look into them.

Dregers main purpose is to carry water for Agents or Organizations that feed him information. They use him as a sound byte.
He hasn't been an insider for a long time

Been making this Trade for last 2 years - Now a new twist
LA....why do they care? They aren't going anywhere they give up a 4th for a rental winger that doesn't really provide much during a rebuild. Given a 4th isn't a lot but it's basically giving up something for nothing.
FL.. I mean I'm not sure on the value here at this point. Lots of things to consider, player, injury history etc... but with two young goalies in the system that are supposedly high caliber like top 3 of their draft, I think it's hard to see them making a move on a goalie. Even if the belief is they need to develop. There isn't much reason to make a goalie move at the moment. It's not like DeSmith is awful, and they put their eggs in a basket with Jarry. For better or worse they are sticking with it.
wpg.. I kind of agree with MrHockey there. I mean ZAR and Jack are kind of a wash. Lowry for Ceci ....**** we don't even want to play Ceci. Why the hell would anyone else.
Everything there is just scraps. So if Lowry is viewed with any value I don't know if they take it. Only thing it does is clear a little cap space but that's gonna happen anyway next year for both teams as both are rentals. I think Lowry might actually be useful to a team. Ceci, is useless. We all knew that going in and yet for some reason here he is anyway.
I will say one thing. That Jack contract. Does the player even sign that? Would anyone even offer that to him. I mean ZAR got 1 million, he's about the same value wise on a player. This is the problem that WPG and Jack are having. He's just not worth all that much from what he's produced and it's hard to justify otherwise. I think no matter where he goes you are going to get the same problem.
An honest evaluation of this guy is that he got 15 minutes of ice time, way more than a 4th liner and yet had 12 goals and 29 points. That isn't exactly the kind of production you want to see from a 3rd liner.
That's what's called playing down the ladder. It's not like we are talking about a lot of excuses here either. He got almost 58% of his starts in the Ozone. So it's kind of like **** or get off the pot.

Ehhh, I don't see why Winnipeg wants to give up to valuable 3rd line players for a decent 4th liner, a crappy 3rd pairing guy (take it from me, Ceci isn't that good of an nhl player), an ahler and a 4th. The overall logistics of the trade, however, are good. Good thinking. Smart deal for the pens (only, at least one of them would play 3c, no? Wouldn't that be the whole point of the deal?).

I've been pretty bummed out about what the Pens have done this yr .....
BUT what a signing by GMJR to lock up Marino at $4.4 for 6 yrs after this yr... so for 7yrs</div></div>
I would have never signed that if I was him. That was a great team deal. I would have bet on myself and got paid. But hey, I blew my knee out playing so maybe I'd be a bit selfish now knowing what happened.
But I think he left a LOT of money on the table.

From Fringe Playoff Team To a Playoff Team - Taxi Squad 1- Trade 2- Signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sidstick87</b></div><div>IMO, GMJR is waiting for all these teams that are over the Cap to maybe make a deal & get one of - a 3C, a Top 9 Forward, & another NHL type Goalie.
and maybe then sign the other.
I was also hoping to get a NHL caliber back up via a waiver Goalie but that is out of the question now w/ teams keeping 3 Goalies, So now we are 1 Jarry injury away from having 2 Goalies I wouldnt want on an AHL Team in DeSmith & Lagace, lol. If Jarry gets injured this season, we could be giving MIN the #1 overall pick.
I also think its time for Pens fans to realize that Poulin is not ready yet. I mean if he cant make a Under 20 Canadian team, well he isn't ready for NHL Hockey yet. I still think he will be a good NHLer but prob in 22'-23' he will be ready w/ a call up in 21'-22'.
I am a Big Blueger fan but if he is ur 3rd line Center ur prob not a Playoff team & he is a 4th line Center on a good team.</div></div>
I don't think the issue of Poulin is just him. It's the team as well. At some point it boils down to how bad do you want to win? Because you have nothing. ERod is not a 3rd liner and Jankowski got out played by Lucic last year. If that's what's holding Poulin back, we need to have a come to jesus moment about if this team wants to actually compete or if it's just going through motions.
We have 1 3rd line player. 1. If we don't play youth at this point, we are not a playoff team. At least not a good one. Our 3rd pairing is shaky on paper. Our 3rd line doesn't exist. That is what defines this team right now. DeSmith is the least of the problems this team has. Guys on this team need a short leash, like Ceci and Jankowski. But if they get up there and say it's fine, it's not them, we're going to be in trouble.
After the 1st month of the season we could all be asking for POJ and Maniscalco on that bottom pair and Poulin and Legare on the 3rd line. Because there is nothing to lose at this point.

From Fringe Playoff Team To a Playoff Team - Taxi Squad 1- Trade 2- Signings
24 days till the season. Like 10 or whatever till camp starts. If they are going to sign someone I don't know what they are waiting on.
I think we are about to see Blueger and Lafferty at center this season.
If they can give Blueger better linemates maybe he can drive play.
McCann Blueger and Poulin doesn't sound horrible.
Whoever, Lafferty, Tanev would still probably be solid defensively.
Truth is they can't shelf the Jankowski as 3C idea fast enough for them to actually sign a better center. But I think we all know that's coming.
