OEL deal and more

Nope he is on 8.25 so capfriendly has it right

that is an enviable 3rd line. newhook & jost likely pair up with burky in the future, and that's just nasty

I don't see the Avs letting Gabe walk by having a hard contract line and then spending that same amount of money on guys in UFA. For 9m in space they would probably rather have Gabe overpaid than those 2 guys

If Only Suter Shot Right
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlowJoe</b></div><div>I would say keep Toews and Makar together they work off of each other really well, and then run Suter with Girard, Suter is a big mobile d-man who can be physical when he has to and would compliment G really well.
Toews - Makar
Girard - Suter
Byram - EJ</div></div>
Suter is now IMO the avs number 1 UFA target to bulk up the Dcore. I think you can get him cheaper and on less term than if Larsson hits market or jamie oleksiak

Good Dmen are good Dman, but Toews and Byram both can play the right side. What if you reunite Girard Toews and go.
Suter Makar
Girard Toews
Byram EJ

How about you upgrade the Det pick to a 2nd, and make it a 3-way trade with Det retaining $2 mil of Tarasanko? Det could add in a late (4th or later) pick to boot

Doesn't make sense to trade for Vlad - he isn't what he used to be and expecting him to bounce-back at that price is far too much a risk.

Avs-NextYear
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>The problem with any trade for a defenseman is that if it occurs prior to the expansion draft, that just means yet another decent defenseman we'd have to expose.</div></div>
It could be done after. The bigger issue (imo) is that I don't think either team would really be interested in the trade. Both Gibson and Girard are too important to their teams.
As an Avs fan, I may change my tune if Byram breaks out, but until he does Girard is pretty necessary. And even then Anaheim has to change their tune on Gibson, which I have a hard time seeing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Six years of John Gibson in return for an LD who would compete with Cam Fowler and Hampus Lindholm for playing time and two second-tier futures.
No, thanks.</div></div>
Not saying you should like the trade or anything, but Girard played the right side most of the year. He might be a better fit than you think.
But yeah, the Gibson trades are a pipe dream in my mind. Everything points to Anaheim trying to step on the gas and compete soon, which means he's not going anywhere.

If Saad Goes
I think Schwartz will ask for more than that but i'd like to see him on the 2nd line.
Although if you wanted Saad you could probily bring him back for the same amount of money instead of Schwartz.

Why let Jost walk when he'd be cheaper at 3C? That right there probably makes up the difference to sign Grubauer. I also don't agree with the Hoffman signing. A good player for sure, but we don't need to be paying a 3rd line winger $4m a year. Imagine Saad makes more as well
