(ANA/BOS) - Lindholm, Curran for Vaakanainen, Moore, 1st, 2nd, 2nd
Massive return for Anaheim. This is a home run for Verbeek, his first trade deadline and he's killing it. Good thing too for Ducks fans sake because he had a lot of work to do to make up for the late Murray tenure.
For Boston, it's a (big IMO) overpay, but Lindholm is/has been a good player and he does help solidify their blueline, especially if he plays to his potential.
Also, I can't believe the almost hour long holdup for this trade being posted was because of Kodie Curran :tearsofjoy

Nope, I agree. Hertl is a decent player, but he’s not worth 8 mil long term. The sharks are also in a horrible position with all those anchor contracts.

Good deal, it's only 1 year and Pavelski has been amazing, worse case scenario, he drops off and declines but it's a 1-year deal so that wouldn't have a huge impact on the team

Good for pavs. And the contact is one year so it won’t really hurt if they fall off

Wait, WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK? First you say that the Hyman contract will age badly, then you say that making the contract EVEN LONGER is worth a high draft pick?
Of all the idiotic comments I've read on this site, this rates near the top.

Are you suggesting the 8th year for Hyman should have cost a 1st round pick?? Because that's ludicrous. Bourgault is leading the QMJHL in scoring this year so far and looks a lot better than that chart might suggest.

One of the best defensive pairs in the league is locked up for 8 years in the same price range as a few individual declining defensemen. That's unbelievable given the defensive market right now. Both Pulock and Pelech are on steals that will only look better as the cap rises.

The main reason to me I vote no, is because the preds should be in rebuild/retool and ehkolm was going to be a huge trade deadline bait that could get them a 1st and a decent prospect at least, the contract it self is a bit too high and won’t age well

This is a lot like the Petry/Muzzin contracts we saw last year, where both teams gave a hefty salary to an aging defender in order to prolong their blueline stability and contention. The problem with this contract is Nashville is in a limbo state where they're not good enough to go deep in the playoffs, but they have a decent core of players who will make sure they don't bottom out.
Personally I think Nashville should've traded Ekholm off.

(DET/EDM) - Green for Brodziak and a conditional 4th round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Don’t the Oilers already have a bunch of bottom pairing D? Don’t get me wrong they gave practically nothing for Green, but if they play him in their top 4…. That’s a bad move. His offense is gone, and he’s become a giveaway machine...
Point of the trade deadline is to add players to help you win. Not just add guys for the sake of it. I think this is a bad move, even if it cost almost nothing.</div></div>
Tippet is playing 3 rookies on D right now - one on each pairing - due to injuries. All it takes is one veteran player to get sick and he's going to have a pretty green backend... this is a smart depth move for a right-shot veteran who still has a little upside left.
