Based on previous interest I think Chicago would say yes to this, however much more likely is Garland with a sweetner, whether that be a pick or a struggling player like Podkolzin

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>Totally agree with your comments regarding the poor asset management by the Canucks. I will however, respectfully disagree about the Hawks accepting.
Labanc is still owed roughly $4.4m in actual $$ this season which is a lot for a guy with 2 assists in 14 games and hasn’t had a good season or at least a season that justifies his $4.725m cap hit since 2018-2019. For me it would take more then moving up two rounds in the draft to make want to take his contract.</div></div>
He's a UFA at the end of the season and the Hawks need top 6 wingers. If he plays well you can flip him at the deadline too. Its an easy yes, what else are you spending that cap on.

Don't see Vegas paying a first for a guy like Novak when he's a UFA at the end of the season and likely wouldn't get top 6 minutes in Vegas. Maybe if he came with an extension?

Don't think the Palmieri trade makes too much sense for Vegas. He has another year left on that deal and they probably want to position themselves with as much cap space as possible this offseason for a big FA signing like a Reinhart or Nylander. He's also just too old and slow for a swift Vegas team that likes to outskate their competition.

LIndblom is an AHL player and this whole trade scenario is a joke. Ranger's talented 1OA pick who's struggled finally starts putting it together and now is the time they trade him?

And? Hes a top 10 pick who's already shown flashes of stardom through his first two seasons. Either they keep him at center and have the greatest center core in the league or transition him to the wing. They aren't suddenly trading him because he's had a slow start to the season.

Talk about a bold move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>100 point players were not uncommon in those days. Krush had 90 point season FFS.
Break it down.
3 1sts = 2 1sts Grizz.
That leaves Carson/Gelinas for Ullmak/Debrusk/Lysell/Dipietro.
Then factor in Krush and Martys value v Campbell/3rd. Campbell is one of worst cap dumps in hockey right now.
The cash, as someone else pointed out, was extremely valuable but impossible to calculate today.</div></div>
But according to this trade they don't end up keeping Campbell anyways, they dump him to San Jose. The cash is an incredibly important factor, which you compensate by upping the amount of 1sts/prospects.
DiPietro is garbage and has basically no value.
Grizz is not worth a 1st round pick, not only is he an expiring UFA and just not worth a first round pick, but it's been public knowledge for over a year now that Boston has been trying to dump him to clear cap space.
In 1987-1988, 12 players reached the 100 point mark. Last season, there were 11 who did the same thing. They are just as valuable today as they were back then. This package is just not equal in value at all, you're essentially trading role players and a great goalie for a top 5 player in the league.

Keys to being a good GM
Vegas doesn't need Engvall or that contract. The entire bottom six and tons of prospects in the minors are basically Engvall type players, Avs and Tampa did those deals because they lacked a youngish bottom 6 player who's solid defensively and on the PK. Vegas has Roy, Cotter, Kolesar, Howden in the NHL and guys like Demek, Sapovaliv, Brabanec and Edstrom in the minors who project to be future bottom 6 pieces.

Vegas isn't moving Roy. He's an incredibly important player to their success and is probably a top 6 player on most teams in the league, there's a reason they signed him long term.

Talk about a bold move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>The package is more than what Gretzky pulled and he came with 2 valuable long term assets in Krush and Marty. Not a long term cap dump that devalues the package and would cost significant assets to move.
Ully/Debrusk/1st/Lysell/Merkulov for Drai and Campbell with 50% retention would be much closer to realistic.
If there is no cap dump then Lysell/Merk would likely need to be replaced with Poitras.
BTW the 3 1sts that EDM got in the Gretzky deal were used on Jason Miller, Martin Rucinsky, and Nick Stajduhar. Which means the throw in mid level player Gelinas ended up being more valuable than 2 of the 1sts. 1sts generally don’t end up being as valuable as known assets. It’s hit or miss.</div></div>
Gretzky was traded for a 100 point player, multiple firsts, and $15 million (around $39 million today). This package isn't even close to that in value. DeBrusk is a ~50 point 2nd line winger who's a UFA after this season, Ullmark is a good goalie but only has a year left on his deal, Lysell is a former first round pick who's struggled in the minors and probably maxes out as a middle six winger, Merkulov is the same except he's three years older, and the first probably ends up being late in the first round. The value isn't even close to the Gretzky deal, even without the cash. Which one of these players is supposed to be Jimmy Carson?

Hawks say no just by Raddysh being included. He's a great young utility player with a nasty shot who can play both special teams and a guy they probably want to keep around through the rebuild.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>future_gm</b></div><div>Fire Schwartz then and hire a new goalie coach. Do you think Vegas says yes?</div></div>
Absolutely not, Thompson has arguably the best contract in the NHL as a legit #1 goalie making league min. Not only would Vegas not help a division rival, the package is horrible. Broberg is a bust who can't crack the NHL roster in year 5, and a late 2nd isn't worth much.

As the Ryan Reeves experience shows in Toronto, you shouldn't employ someone just because they're good at fighting. Team has to toughen up. Colorado, Vegas, and Tampa never seem to have problems with people running their players, and they don't have a guy who only fights on their team.

Not saying he's anything special or that I expect him to be an impact player, but he's certainly not worthless, a bust or can already be deemed not good enough for the NHL; it's too early to tell just yet and he's already played in the NHL right out of College, which is pretty impressive</div></div>
He played 9 and 2 games as an emergency callup, not because he was good enough to crack the roster. He left college 2 years ago now, and he's done nothing ever since. Hawks already have a similar guy in Cole Guttman, who they got for free as a college free agent, they don't need to spend a draft pick and take on a garbage contract for another one. Also, unlike Abruzzese, Guttman has dominated the AHL.

Martinez is either retiring or walking in the offseason, Vegas has multiple NHL caliber defenseman stuck in the AHL because there's no roster spots. Horrible contract for Marchessault too, he'll be 33 when that contract starts and at his age he shouldn't be getting a 3 million dollar pay raise. He either takes a short term deal at the same price or even a pay cut or they'll likely let him walk in free agency, especially with 20 million in cap space this summer that could be used on a high profile winger like Nylander.

Bertuzzi has a NMC so they can't trade him, Flyers wouldn't retain after already using one to dump the Kevin Hayes contract. Additionally, the Flyers are giving up Konecny and a 2nd for what? Niemela, a late first, and contract dumps?

Abruzzese is probably a bust atp, so they're basically trading a fifth for a contract dump.
