Bruins after trade deadline

I read that Boston wants to trade Debrusk for Virtanen. We both know that is not true. We read multiple Krug for RNH articles. Turns out there was never a discussion. EDM was on Krug NTC. Read Bjork for Chiasson was discussed. Wasn’t. Was speculation by Edm writer after Debrusk/Bjork for Nurse/Chiasson fizzled. I read dozens of articles over 2 months telling me that cops with a warrant burst into the wrong house to arrest a man that was already in custody and shot a woman sleeping in her bed. None of which was true. 🤷🏻♂️
Other teams went to them, not the other way around. Had they wanted to trade him they would have.
You spend way to much time focusing on how to short change the other team. Bottom line is Boston wins that trade. Are a better team for it. And you are more concerned about nickle and diming them. 🤷🏻♂️ Barclay Goodrow got a 1st, you think this is an overpay. LMAO
If Kase becomes a 20 goal scorer again and KP does not extend. They lose long term. They still gain short term. Unless you think Kase comes back healthy and productive. Would not bet on it.
As far as the 2nds go. Since the 2015 draft, looking at the bottom 6 picks, where Boston likely picks, the 3 most productive players. Vince Dunn, Jonas Siegenthaler, and Dillon Dube. Those are the most productive. There are some that will make their way to the NHL still. Many will not, or make minimal impact if they do. Small price for a proven 50 point guy.

Bruins after trade deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Silkysmooth42</b></div><div>Last year, the devils were asking for a 1st and a decent prospect for a two-year rental. Not a bad price, but NOBODY bit! Thus his fair value going into this year was less than that. NOW add to that the fact that he is now a single year rental. We can REASONABLY deduce that his value is a 2nd and an OK prospect... Fast Forward to 8 games in whereas he has only gotten 3 points (all assists, AND they are all SECONDARY assists too lmao), where he additionally is having his worst season in terms of all advanced metrics as well (CORSI and FENWICK)... Yeah he is worth NO MORE than a 2nd. Factually.
So Bruins reject that one without a moments hesitation.
And just to clarify the Nashville trade cuz I wanna just finish the work for yall. Bruins have made it abundantly clear they have no interest in moving on from their young LHD. Zboril is FINALLY getting his chance to play and he is capitalizing on it big time. Lauzon is a beautiful pairing with McAvoy rn, and Griz is a solid top 4 dman so no reason to move on from him. Even Moore looked good in his first game the other night with 23 minutes of ice time
so for you and <a href="/users/BigBadBruins214" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@BigBadBruins214</a> ... Bruins reject both trades. No doubts about it</div></div>
NJ was not trading KP last year. They were not asking anything. They were listening and if they were blown away by an offer they would have accepted. But their game plan was to extend him. That has changed.
Boston takes that offer and runs....happily. Late 2nds rarely amount to much more than marginal NHLers and bottom 6 third pair complementary type. Kase has minimal value with his concussion history.
KP value is 2nd and quality prospect at minimum. This is below that.

That’s your typical response when presented facts that don’t fit your belief.
Sept 28th 2020- The Sports Hub in Boston
The Boston Bruins remain in talks with pending unrestricted free agent Torey Krug, with their latest offer coming in at $6.5 million per year for the next six years, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli.
That would add up to $39 million over the next six years, and a modest $1.25 million per year raise from Krug's current salary. But based on the current chatter, with the Bruins exploring the idea of trading Krug's negotiating rights according to both Seravalli and Rear Admiral from Barstool Sports, Krug's camp is not interested in such a deal.
Just one of many sources stating such. 2 weeks later he signed with Blues.

Lol, yes it was.
Pretty obvious what happened. Boston gave him their best offer early on. Out of respect. Krugs contends that there were no offers after that. Ok. Why would there be? That was their top offer. He wanted them to negotiate off of that. They were not going to. They told him up front that was it. He says it was pulled, every report says otherwise. After he signed Sweeney said he would not talk about players on another team but also said they could not agree to length of contract.
Fact - Boston offered 6x6.5 before season started.
Fact - there was never another offer from Boston as there was no reason to if they were not improving it
Contention - Krug says offered was pulled. Reports and Boston say otherwise.
Believe what you want.
Boston wanted him back on their terms. Krug was butthurt they did not expand on their offer and left over 1 year. 🤷🏻♂️

I think the problem they’re going to run into is mcavoy just bullying his way onto that unit. My guess is that they wanted to avoid that until they could put a long term extension in front of him, but I’m not sure they’ll be able to. Get ready for the first 8 figure cap hit in boston.</div></div>
They clearly NEEDED Grizz to be that guy. Wanted is a different story. The options available during the offseason were not worth pursuing outside of Schmidt whose cap hit would have a been a tough fit and despite being a left shot is a RD that they did not need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>The Blues aren't swapping Dunn for a far lesser LD and a meh pick. Obviously.</div></div>
Not sure that is a fair assessment. Dunn is not very good defensively. Zboril is pretty sound in that regard but does not provide much offense though he moves the puck better than advertised. Blues are not deep on LD organizationally and if they can’t get the 1st they are looking for they might be willing to swap Dunn’s offense for Zboril’s D. The entire reason they are considering moving Dunn is they are fed up with his defense. The 2 have roughly the same value. Just depends on what you value more. Boston needs an PP QB, Blues looking to improve defensively, seems like a match really. Keep in mind that Zboril was much higher regarded coming out of juniors, unlike Dunn he was buried behind Chara, Krug, Grizz and had to compete with a pair of other top 50 picks as well. Just because Dunn has been in the league longer at same age does no mean he is more advanced or a better option, they just had different circumstances.
I think Blues will hold out for the 1st while teams are looking at the Devon Toews trade as a model for a deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BsInOttawa</b></div><div>Try looking at players in those draft slots in years before Dunn - later drafted players on average take longer to get to the NHL, even just looking at ones who become regulars. Most of that list won't have even been given a shot yet.
I don't think the Bruins are looking to trade any of their 5 young D. (McAvoy, Carlo, Lauzon, Zboril, Vaakainen) - they're playing 4 of them and being a top defensive team. I don't think they'll make a big in-season move this year. Moving up another contract number (Dunn going to get more$ than Zboril based on past performance) isn't great as the amazing discount forwards need new contracts or are done (Krejci, Bergeron, Marchand, Pasternak)
I haven't watched Dunn much - but don't get why StL need to trade him if he's that good. Or why they signed Krug if Dunn's as strong an offensive LD as described while trying to trade him to Boston.</div></div>
If they are trading their 1st they are not trading a player that has had time to get established. This is a pretty solid representation of the quality of player they would be giving up. The odds of getting a high end player at the bottom of the 1st are slim. Pasta only happens once a decade, if that.
I agree they are not trading one of their young d men to get Dunn, makes no sense. The premise is around giving up the 1st.
Dunn is half of what Krug is, if that. He’s a 30 point guy. He is not going to become a 50 point guy. He’s still an upgrade for Boston as 6 of their 8 d men are defensive type, 1 two way, and Grizz who is tough to quantify as he is neither really. Unlike most on that will be on the market he is under team control. Giving up a 1st is easier to take. I imagine most teams are looking at the Toews trade and are trying to acquire him without giving up a 1st. My comment is to show why Boston should jump in and do it if that’s what it takes. They have only had 2 1sts in the last 4 years so they are leery of giving up another with their shallow farm. I was trying to show that odds are they would come out ahead if they did.
Coaching staff fed up with Dunn. Couple bad giveaways and spotty defense early. It’s calmed down a bit. Their LD depth in the system is not great so I think cooler heads will prevail and they hold onto him unless they get an offer they want.

This years draft after pick 20 does not look very intriguing.
A late 1st for a 30 point d man still in his RFA years is not out of the question. I think most teams will try to get them to a pair of 2nds or less. Comes down to who blinks first. But Blues hold all the cards on this one.
