Big moves with Sabres and Leafs
I don't see how trading Fabbro, Jarnkrok, or Trenin really helps NSH. They are not the problem and they always play hard -- and they are all on very cheap contracts currently (Trenin will sign cheap as an RFA this summer) and Fabbro will probably get 2-3 year bridge deal between $3-4m the following year. The value that these players bring at their respective contracts is extremely valuable for any team. So I would look at other players to trade -- Johansen (which you did), Turris (may be difficult), Bonino, Watson, maybe even Ekholm or Arvidsson depending on the deal.

Ya I appreciate he didn't offer something like Marner and a 3rd and a random prospect.

Seabrook to Florida

I also want to point out that we are retaining on Seabrook, at 4mil AAV is he really the worst?</div></div>
Matheson's decent. Also Lucic has 3,5 years. I took a shorter contract compared to Seabrook on purpose.
Also Seabrook's cap hit is $5M, not $4M after retention.

Martkstrom isn’t a “backup” he’d leave after this season, not the right move for the leafs to give up all that

Not these changes though. Honestly, you only made this team worse in a year where they’re going for it

NYR EDM Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheChief</b></div><div>So? It's all but confirmed that NYR can afford to resign Kreider due to their bad financial state, so they lose that leverage too.</div></div>
I think NYR think long and hard if you simply give up Faksa and Mascherin (and keep the picks). They'd get a proven solid player in Faksa and a prospect with a lot of potential in Mascherin, along with shedding about $2.5M in cap space.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Change Barron to Kamenev/Bowers/Meloche and make the 2nd conditional and you have a discussion</div></div>
nah, rangers may want that but they are now in a place of weakness when it comes to their roster, have to shed salary still. AJ Greer is what I would offer up with picks, other than that, good luck finding your trade partner
Avs wouldnt trade the 16th overall pick for him, they sure wont trade some of their better top prospects plus multiple draft picks now. I think rangers over valued him at the draft, missed their chance to get a good return and now will have to settle for something less

NYR EDM Trade
EDM trade..yes. Janmark has no real slot in our roster and I'd like to give a chance for Puljujärvi
NYR trade...nah. If that's Kreider's asking price, it's just too much. One year of player that has never scored over 30 goals a year and his career high is 53 points... While BUF acquired Skinner, who outplays Kreider in all of the mentioned statistics, by a low prospect, 2nd, 3rd and 6th... Yeah how about no.

Backes already submitted his 8 team trade list

Who says no
I think this is a case where each fan base would probably go to bat for their guy and say their team would say no.
Laine can really fill it up, but is basically a liability everywhere else on the ice. Reinhart, just as OP says, is a more complete player, but he is also getting better every year in the league.
As a Sabres fan, I would hope Buffalo does not make this trade.

BIGGEST DEAL of FLYERS history
"Flyers wants leadership and need to win now... Therrien loves both players." Judging by their records, Weber and Price don't scream "winners" at all. Total 26 seasons. 7 playoff round wins.

Well unless you're saying it's going to take more than 14m a year to resign Josi, I have no idea what kind of math you are doing.
Granlund - 5.75m
Smith - 4.25m
Josi - 4m
They could let Granlund walk and probably resign Smith for less than 4.25 a year. Josi 10m, Smith 3.5. Tight but very possible

And you would need to pay back jock tax and give up endorsements. Yes taxes play a part. Why do you think Duchene has a home in Tennessee? It ain’t all predators and country music. When you look at how little these players actually take home when it is all done it is not as big of a factor as most make it out to be.
