No way this guy has peaked, and yes, as a sens fan I’d do that trade in a heartbeat. Lodin/Ostapchuk/Lassi a first and Brannstrom, his value as a player is definitely worth more than what OP asked for

Playing GM For A Team I Hate Part II
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>No NHL GM's see the picks as they're actually valued. In other words differently to each team. Every one here which I guess includes you think that a top 5 pick will get you any player from any team straight up and that simply isn't true.
Every team is going to value those picks depending on where they are, who the player is, if they are rebuilding or not, etc.
In Winnipeg's case 5OA doesn't help them compete as much with their current roster as Scheifele does. The Jets also have no need to trade Scheifele, so why would they accept a trade that doesn't benefit them in the timeframe they are looking to compete in?
You may believe real GM's value players and picks at a fixed non-changing, non-negotiable value like your favourite video game does. It simply isn't true. Far more goes into a real trade than just a supposed trade value in a vacuum.</div></div>
Lol, yeah… so what you’re saying is picks are valued differently to each team yet you’re saying everyone is overvaluing them so you’re contradicting yourself
Flat value, 5 OA > Scheifele
I don’t think picks can land anyone, just not overvaluing Scheifele

I don’t think there’s many players that land TK and 5 OA unless you’re 25 and putting up 100 points
Throwing back a first though is interesting, plus the buyout… but Poolman has to turn into an A list prospect for this to be debatable for Philly imo

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Yes, 99.9 % of fans overvalue picks and under value star players like you are doing. Fortunately the Jets don't need to move Scheifele so they don't have to worry about an offer like this that doesn't include a first line forward.</div></div>
So if 9999 people out of every 1000 including NHL GMs see picks valued at one point and you see them valued at another, maybe this is a you issue.
I’ve seen better offers for 5 OA, heck, I’ve seen better offers for 10 OA. Better than Mark 1:1

A second pairing winger just doesn't get you in therunning for a PPG 1C. You are correct about Konecny and 5OA for Scheifele being a ludicrous overvalue of Konecny though.</div></div>
Ouch. Yeah I think Scheifele can land like 8 OA one for one but 5 and a top line Young player… doubt it

I’m very interested to see about that contract. It looks a bit heavy now, but I feel in five years it will be look cheap. Kind of like Weber in his fourteen year deal, was embarrassingly overpaid for two or three years, but the cap rose, contracts started getting bigger, the last few years he was probably worth a lot more when healthy.
Only time will tell but I think we are due for a major spike in the cap in the next three years considering lots of teams are fighting the cap now just to keep their RFAs

Read your post.
You said Holl is equivalent in value to Laughton
You said Mrazek is equivalent in value to Monahan
You said Risto is “MUCH” worse than Holl, I mean, Risto is a 90 foot guy, don’t get me wrong but I would take him on my team over Holl 82 games of the year. Finding PK specialist D is a dime a dozen.

Lodin + Brännström + early 2nd (39th OA) is already good value. Wouldn't add Ostapchuk on top of it.</div></div>
I feel if we take Osta out of the offer we probably have to turn that 2nd into a first. Protected of course.
At least to equate to most the offers I’ve seen for TK.
Maybe Philly adds a pick or lower prospect? Sens are in a fantastic spot that a big add like this, and maybe one or two good off-season pick ups, could really boost the team to be a playoff team

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>He's a mid level number 4, the main issue is that lots of people have crazy high expectations of what a number 4 defender actually is.
Just because he's not that guy on Carolina or Colorado doesn't mean he isnt one, hell, he's been one on the leafs, a top 5 team for years now, for a long time.
He's MUCH better than risto, but thats just because risto is terrible and if Philly doesnt want to eat that pride thats on them. Ellis is better when he's healthy, so we'll see how that goes, as far as a fresh draft pick? That kid probably wont make the show for years, especially as a defender.
Leafs fans want to dump him because he's blocking liljegren mostly and cap second.
At best him for Laughton is a straight up value swap, the first and niemela make it a nonstarter for the leafs.
Mrazek for monahan, holl for Laughton sure, fine, whatever. Nothing else</div></div>
Okay, was trying to say each of you were wrong but that rant made me side with OP. Clearly you’re way more off than he is.

He is a solid PK defensive D who blocks a lot and isn’t afraid to throw his body around. Definitely a good player. He is a very good 3rd pair D.
He could be top 4 on some teams that are weak on one side and while Philly is pretty bad, he isn’t going to take a spot from Risto and is no where as good as Ellis. If Philly drafts Jiricek, then yes, Holl would be a healthy scratch on that Philly defence.
He is probably worth 2 million but it seems as if leafs fans want to dump him so I’m not sure you get what you want out of him.
The trade seems pretty fair in my honest opinion, wouldn’t be any more off than a 3rd

Most these deals look fair, and Ghost would make a fantastic winger, but probably on the right side. Lefties are best on the left for D and on the right for wing

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReelBigFan</b></div><div>Probably, I didn’t know what to value some of those pieces… I think Morrow is a very good prospect, wasn’t sure if him and a first would cover the difference</div></div>
Agreed, I’d ask for at least another first or top prospect plus a depth player like Martinook (salary retained maybe) so Brink can get time in the AHL.
That also improves the 4th line in Philly a lot.
All in all, this is a pretty nice team, not 100% on Necas being a top 6 guy right away, would keep Atkinson if possible. Then Necas probably moves to the 4th since that 3rd line had so much chemistry. So you kind of have to pick a poison there.
Risto being a healthy scratch is hilariously accurate.
Sanhiem and Bear would definitely be a pairing to watch. If Ellis is healthy him and Ben would also be really strong together.
This team is would probably make a playoff run especially if Fed reaches 85% of his potential.
