Initial Creation Date: Jun. 13, 2022
Published: Jun. 13, 2022

Description
Flyers staff really like York. Like a lot, I believe they think he is a better player than Provy. Nemec will probably not make the team if drafted and Attard will more than likely start there unless Ellis injury is a problem then you will see a very young D with Attard AND Nemec. Comtois fell out of grace with the ducks staff and could be an even swap for a similar situation with Frost.

I think Comtois has a higher ceiling than Frost and he also fits Verbeek’s player mold more as well

Does not make any sense for the hawks and they could get a much better offer elsewhere.

Trades value is pretty fair, I think Hawks don’t go for a pair of 25 year olds for a rebuild, but look to draft picks more, granted it’s more value than they will probably get, just not the right pieces

I think we leave a little value in that coots deal. mark is a solid PPG player but coots is arguably the top 2-way player in the game if Bergeron hangs them up.. Scheifele in 2 years probably gets over 10 mill. Not to mention he is a locker room cancer according to multiple reports, know a guy who played with him and said the same thing… granted the dude tells me a lot of things about NHL players and some are harder to believe than others… still, maybe we get a 3rd back in that deal as well

I like Frost and Comtois… both looked very promising and kinda haven’t lived up to potential, but at 23 their prime is still in front of them… I honestly think they both have break out seasons next year but currently I’d say comtois has more value than frost

I’d say better fitting offer elsewhere.

Won’t get that value elsewhere but definitely will get something that makes more sense for the direction the franchise is going. If they planned to compete again next year, this offer would be really good, but I think the deal will involve at least two firsts and two good prospects under the age of 22

Problem is finding a team that can use Deb now and those picks won’t be 20s-32… maybe LA? Not sure what direction they are going in but heard lots of players might hang them up, so could make sense… Ottawa would be great as well… 2023 first, Lodin, Lassi, Ospatchuk? Maybe try to get another pick but i doubt they move 7OA

I'd think Philly would rather keep Couturier and his term wouldn't they? However, I don't see the Jets wanting to take on SC's contract. That contract will not age well.

Ha! completely forgot I was talking with REAL NHL scouts and GMS here lol. I guess I should have done Hart and Farabee this years 1st as well as next years for Alex. First off no way he scores without Kane, 2nd he has one year on his contract and every NHL team knows Chi is in a rebuild. Are you going to rebuild around Debrincat? Provy is still a good D man with term and last I checked CHI needs D. ITs not like TK is terrible I would love to keep him. I can see maybe a sweeter but you're not getting a better offer for that lol. But maybe you know better than I do, maybe you do end up in a one for one swap of McDavid or Mathews.

Ducks give Comtois a full season where he doesn’t have major wrist surgery at the start of the year before we entertain trading him in anything other than a package for a true top line forward

An elite 2-way guy, 2 twenty five year old top line players and a kid who has made major progress and found confidence with his line at the last twenty games last year.

Nothing close to mediocre

My bad, that's what I meant. Value isn't too bad, but the fit is. I've seen a lot of Devils fans offer Holtz and 2nd overall on here and really haven't seen any other offers close to that. As far as teams involved, I've seen reports of LA, Philly, NJ, and NYI. Ottawa, Anaheim, and Detroit would be interesting too since they are likely on the rise in the next few years and DeBrincat is from Michigan.

I’m very interested to see about that contract. It looks a bit heavy now, but I feel in five years it will be look cheap. Kind of like Weber in his fourteen year deal, was embarrassingly overpaid for two or three years, but the cap rose, contracts started getting bigger, the last few years he was probably worth a lot more when healthy.

Only time will tell but I think we are due for a major spike in the cap in the next three years considering lots of teams are fighting the cap now just to keep their RFAs

Mediocre wasn't the right word, but DeBrincat is significantly better than Konecny and Provorov, even put together. Couturier's value is probably the lowest its ever been with injury concerns and has a larger contract. For teams to accept these types of lateral moves, especially when they are not upgrading, their needs to be a reason -- cap crunch, chemistry issues, trade request etc. Think of a couple of years ago when the caps clearly downgraded from niskanen to gudas 1-1. They did it because they needed the extra ~3.5 million. If the Hawks are trading a 26yo DeBrincat, it is to rebuild, not to take back two 25yo guys who are worse and make more money combined. Winnipeg would trade Scheifle if they are actually blowing it up too, or if they could find someone cheaper.

I agree with the two 25 year old thing, it just doesn’t fit the way they want to build… but the value is pretty fair. TK and Provorov are each worth a first, good prospect and possibly young 3rd pairD/bottom 6 forward… I think Deb lands a pair of first and 2-3 good prospects.

So it’s close imo, just doesn’t fit the needs

Coots had one injury. No real concerns. Contract seems pretty fair. Definitely will be cheaper than what Scheifele gets in two seasons and Coots probably shuts down more than the difference in points between the two. But yeah, the injury could make people a bit more hesitant, however, the value for this also makes sense imo. Just think the jets might move for a RHD

Yeah, it will be interesting. I don't like that it runs until SC is 37 and he isn't a particularly great or speedy skater. Injuries have already been pulling him down the last few years and he's already not a great producer. I just get the feeling that in maybe 2 years that contact is going to start looking like Kevin Hayes' contract.

His point production has been pretty sexy, I’d take him
3 of his last 4 seasons excluding last years injury he was at .911 -.950 his down year was a .855 and seems like he hadn’t missed any time really minus the Covid stint and injury this year.

My team doesn’t need him but I’d take him
