Not playing in North America isn’t always an issue. More for skaters than goalies I’d say as long as you have the stamina to go a full season which tends to be the biggest issue for goalies.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dr_Invictus</b></div><div>the trade is clearly Monahan and kylington. Monahan has a higher career pts/g than Hayes(0.70 vs 0.60) He has 1 year left on his contract at a lower AAV than Hayes. No team is going to give up at 24yo defensemen who had more points than Hayes and a center with 1 year left (even as a cap dump) for Kevin Hayes dead weight for 4 years. He makes 7.1M and broke the 50pt mark once in his life. His Corsi is below 50% so worse than both Backlund and Monahan, and has more term. Nobody is paying you to take a bad contract. Vegas had to pay Carolina to take Pacioretty who has 0.76pt/g and a 57.8CF%. Nobody is taking Kevin Hayes off your books at 7.14M AAV for free. They certainly aren't doing it for a top 4 d who had more points and Monahan, who has 1 year left at a lower cap hit.</div></div>
Wait, you’re still trying to argue that Monahan is better? My god, that ship has sailed. Hayes is better than Backlund, any team who has the cap space would takes Hayes over Backlund, Monahan isn’t even in question
Also, not my books, I’m a sens fan. Just thought this was hilarious

Uh, you're very clearly wrong. Montreal didn't need to trade Petry, but they wanted to honour his trade request, shopped him and took the first trade that made sense to the Canadiens. Montreal doesn't need or want to move Anderson and have rebuffed calls on him.</div></div>
The argument was that Habs fans believed Petry would land a high first and more… they think Andersson should rake in the same

Your arguments are absolutely horrendous and keep emphasizing why Hayes is better in the end.
A Hayes for Backlund swap would have Calgary adding at least a first, probably a top prospect as well. The offer above is bad for Philly, and im not even a Flyers fan

Provorov for Bertuzzi straight up would be a no, let alone adding and that was before FA, now, there is really no deal for Provorov that makes sense unless Philly loses their mind and gifts him to us.</div></div>
Provorov definitely has more value than Bertuzzi. Not by much, and with all those signings you really don’t have a 1LD. However, you guys have a ton of cap space so smart move would be dealing prospects and picks for him

Well, there goes one and he set the market at 6.1
Doubt the Sabres land a guy like that for that price but they don’t really need to either

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>On the contrary, the retention still comes out in Philadelphia's favor. Keeping Konecny results in a $5.5 million cap hit for three years. This trade replaces him with two (presumably) maximum-number ELCs for three years, so the Flyers are getting two players instead of one for $2.75 plus $925 plus $925 = $3.6 million. And they get two guys who will (hopefully) fit Philly's time line better, because they sure as heck aren't making the playoffs in 2023,</div></div>
They are getting two guys to play in 2026 at the earliest lol

With the retention that’s a deal. He does a lot more than produce, a lot that the current top 6 lacks. His ability to create plays and find the open man while being physical and forcing turnovers and going into corners would make him a key piece to making the Leafs get the most out of their top guys.
Two late firsts probably doesn’t get it done

If Willy Gets Traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>Similar development paths? Nylander matched Konecny's best season in his rookie season and has matched or surpassed that output in all but his lockout shortened season. These are not similar players. One is a middle 6, 50 point winger and the other is a point a game player.</div></div>
Nylander has only been a PPG player when he’s a 3rd liner… it’s odd. Not sure what to make of it but he hasn’t really done much going against better talent and having better talent play with him.
Check their stats based on age. They have pretty much identical PPG production each year. Almost scary.

The top 6 in philly is just not great and that whole team is a mess. Laughton on our 3rd with kampf and pulju makes a really amazing defensive checking line. The 1st is an added bonus that can be flipped at the deadline for other assets.</div></div>
Konecny is poised to have a big year, Nylander and him have followed very similar development paths. I think that deal is an absolute steal for the leafs. Heck, I’d do it without the first if I was Toronto

PHI back to playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>There isn’t any reason for COL to do that. That trade basically is one year of Sanheim, a d prospect that isn’t anything special, and an AHL dman for the 5 premium years (24-29) of a puck moving dman on a sweetheart deal. I mean not to be mean but that is just awful. If COL moves Girard they will want immediate help in the form of a similar type production forward who is on a good contract and cost controlled (relatively) for a similar amount of time. Plenty of deals out there centered around guys like that in Necas, Sharangovich, Beauviller, Bennett. This is a very easy no.</div></div>
Doubt Sanhiem signs for anything more than 5.5M, and calling Attard an AHL D is one of the biggest under evaluations of a player I’ve seen on here. Guy will be top 4 with ease. I’d take him up here.

Sens take that. Probably ask for half retention and sweeten the deal.
Oilers trade is absolutely hideous and Sens hear about it and offer a much better offer than that since it is definitely Hart is worth about three players of that talent, maybe more.
Sens also hear about this offer where some how Garland lands Konecny who is probably as valuable or more valuable than Garland, as well as Sanhiem whose more valuable than both those guys, and a plethora of picks. Sens counter with a big deal
Sens land Konecny, Sanhiem, Hart and JVR for Pennies on the dollar since this Oilers fan probably isn’t familiar with the actual value of these Flyers players.
