Can the Flyers be saved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dr_Invictus</b></div><div>His stats would indicate otherwise. Backlund out performed him last year and is a solid defensive center at 5.3 a year. You're telling me Hayes is going to improve on his whopping 31pt season and earn his 7+M over the next 4 years? If the argument is that he is injured, then that doesn't add value. It just adds to the argument that he is in decline. I wouldn't sign Kadri for 7.1M for the same reasons. His style of play lends itself to injuries, and post 30...those add up. At least there is a chance Monahan has healed from his surgeries at 27. Even with he last 2 years of hip injuries he has a career average of 0.70 pts/g. Kevin Hayes has averaged 0.60 pts/g over his career, is 3 years older, has a a higher AAV and is signed for 4 more years. Plus Kylington! Calgary could trade kylington to any other team and not be in the hole like they would after taking this deal. It's completely one sided and certainly wouldn't make the Flames more competitive. It just puts them in cap prison for 4 extra years with nothing in return.</div></div>
Okay, i can’t argue with you. Clearly you’re wearing tinted glasses. You think a guy who put up 39 in 82 out performed a guy who did 31 in 48??? You also argue that Monahan is closer to Hayes cause Monahan was injured… for less time than Hayes was…
Honestly, there’s no debate here, Hayes is a much better player than your 2 and 3 centres

Can the Flyers be saved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dr_Invictus</b></div><div>I think career pts/g speak for themselves. Not to mention his bloated salary.</div></div>
So Hayes who is at a career .600 isn’t as good as Backlund who is a career.527?
Remember, Backlund has past his Prime, Hayes is still in it, for 2 mill more I’d take Hayes 100 times over Backlund. Both are good 2-way players, but Hayes is far better at production in the last few seasons. Backlund would probably be a 4th line C in Philly right now…

provorov
I think it’s a bit over for him. If there’s an extension in place I think it gets chalked up to a “hockey trade” maybe a 3rd at most… but I get having to add if an agreement can’t be made before a trade
Just my opinion though

Come Home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>No, Sabres don't do that at all. Sabres save their cap (or spend it) on a 5.5m about as good Konecky and keep their picks.</div></div>
That’s fine, several teams want a guy like him and there’s about 4 comparable on free agency so most teams will miss out, and I doubt those guys sign for that price unless it’s with a contender, which im sure a few teams will offer up contacts in the 6-6.5 range (I think that’s something the Sabres probably do)… a contender then makes a similar offer for Konecny with an unprotected pick

I’m kinda lost on that Philly deal. You’re either highly overvaluing your pieces, or very undervaluing Philly’s

If Willy Gets Traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheReboundKid</b></div><div>Konecny is poised to have a big year, Nylander and him have followed very similar development paths. I think that deal is an absolute steal for the leafs. Heck, I’d do it without the first if I was Toronto</div></div>
The first is more of an insurance pick if it doesn't pan out quite like what they hope. I do also believe that there would be massive interest in Nylander from teams like the Isles looking for offense, so philly would have to add at the very least a 2nd.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>Also I wouldn't trade a point a game player for a couple of lesser players. We are in win now mode.</div></div>
Konecny in my opinion is very capable of getting to a point per game or at least close. The top 6 in philly is just not great and that whole team is a mess. Laughton on our 3rd with kampf and pulju makes a really amazing defensive checking line. The 1st is an added bonus that can be flipped at the deadline for other assets.

PHI back to playoffs
The team is essentially the exact team we had this year and finished at the bottom of the league
We just swap our best 2-way D for a similar player who is a step back defensively and a step forward offensively. And eat cap for some reason
With a healthy team we might be decent, but I doubt we are a playoff team

He had 23 goals, not a cap dump but probably a couple mill overpaid. Could get him for cheap because of that

2023 first (probably protected 10), one of Lassi/Lodin/Ostapchuk, and Brannstrom
I personally think the sens make a strong push next year but probably get bounced round 1 or just miss</div></div>
I floated one idea awhile ago that was met with mixed reception: what about 7OA + Zaitsev for Konecny? I'd argue it's better value for the Sens overall and it meets a more pressing need for the Flyers

Yeah. This is one of the lowest offers I’ve seen for him. A late first and a B prospect won’t make it to the top ten offers for him.
