It would be hard to turn that offer down for Anthony Stolarz.

Not sure Philly takes that just due to retention

It would be even more difficult to squeeze it out of the leafs.

Yeah, and somebody wouldn't want to take two firsts off the Leafs for $2.75 million retention x 3 seasons.

That's a lot to retain. Not very realistic.

With the retention that’s a deal. He does a lot more than produce, a lot that the current top 6 lacks. His ability to create plays and find the open man while being physical and forcing turnovers and going into corners would make him a key piece to making the Leafs get the most out of their top guys.

Two late firsts probably doesn’t get it done

I agree he would be a good fit in Toronto. That retention is a no go though. Offensive firepower wouldn't be my description of him either.

On the contrary, the retention still comes out in Philadelphia's favor. Keeping Konecny results in a $5.5 million cap hit for three years. This trade replaces him with two (presumably) maximum-number ELCs for three years, so the Flyers are getting two players instead of one for $2.75 plus $925 plus $925 = $3.6 million. And they get two guys who will (hopefully) fit Philly's time line better, because they sure as heck aren't making the playoffs in 2023,

They are getting two guys to play in 2026 at the earliest lol

Agreed, pretty well rounded player other than his shooting… 2-way grinder playmaker seems more like him

Why do people keep low balling Lyubushkin, then expect him to play on the top pairing?

They are for a combination of a player in his prime under contract for three years, and for $8M+ in salary retention

Offensive firepower was said slightly tounge-in-cheek, but between him and Rodrigues it would give the Leafs three lines with scoring threats instead of two.

It’s because Rielly is so good that he only needs a defence partner one fifth as good, that we only want to pay him one fifth as much.
