Winnipeg Jets signed Dominic Toninato (1 Year / $700,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Madhawk</b></div><div>I mean at this price he was a solid 4th liner at times for FLA last season so doesn’t hurt so it seems like a good depth signing, but it really seems like the Jets are going all in on depth</div></div>
Not really tbh, thompson was likely signed to be 4c and tominato or Seuss is our 14th forward while the other gets sent down. Now, if they go for another depth player of any kind, I agree with you 100%. Good to see the jets using their ownership’s (true north) financial muscle. It’s really good for a relatively small market team to have an ownership group with that much money.

Except Connolly isn't a bottom sixer. He was that for a few years until he found his game in the Cup year. Ever since, he has been a very reliable 2nd line guy. I don't see the same in Kassian. This is his peak, not a break out.

Did the Penguins contact the Stars saying that they needed some AHL D depth and the Stars had a lot, so what do you want for who? Did the Stars want some AHL F depth and contacted the Penguins?</div></div>
Considering both teams were in the same place when this happened and the guys just swapped lockers, this odd exchange might have happened in person.

Washington Capitals signed Nicklas Bäckström (5 Years / $9,200,000 AAV)
Holtby's gone for sure after this, but I think the writing was on the wall anyways. Not a huge fan of the AAV, but Backstrom was underpaid through his entire prime, time to give him some well-earned money. Only bright side for this contract is that Backstrom's game isn't physical or speed oriented, so I'm not expecting a gigantic drop-off in performance by 37, but anything can happen.

(ARI/DET) - Comrie for Saarijärvi
It was clear that Comrie wasn't going to be getting reps in Arizona, and they didn't want to put him back on waivers. This move gives them another really nice option down in Tucson, and gives them a scary good defense when Ness comes back down.

(TBL/BUF) - Spencer for Stephens
Let's say NHL is 5 stars
AHL is 4 stars
ECHL is 3 stars
LNAH is 2.7 stars
SPHL is 2 stars
FHL is 1 star.
Buffalo gets 3.5 stars, Tampa gets 3.1.
Buffalo is the clear winner of this ECHL for semiAHL player trade.

Vegas Golden Knights signed Peyton Krebs (3 Years / $1,275,833 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AwesomeMatthews</b></div><div>Why not wait until next offseason</div></div>
Knights were waiting to see how he recovered from his achilles tendon injury. He just played his first game of the season so they signed him to an ELC.
He wont make the Knights next year and unlikely to the year after, so the first year of his contract can slide for up to 2 years. The three year contract will probably result in ELC control for the Knights for 5 years.
I believe the NHL portion of the ELC would be higher next year and the year after.
Signing him now is cheaper in the long run and for the next 2 years, only his signing bonus ( if there was one) would count against the salary cap

(TBL/NJD) - Domingue for 2021 conditional 7th round pick
His awful performance at the AHL level this season means the Lightning essentially had to give him away. He was a decent backup in Tampa and for periods in Arizona behind some bad teams so it's a low risk move for Jersey to see if he can't bounce back in their system.

Devils desperately needed Goalie depth, even if its just at the AHL level. At the very least, this move should serve as a wake-up call to Schneider.
