Kadri One Year Deal
I don't get the logic of NAV signing a one year deal? The whole point is he wants to cash in on great season and cup. I see him pushing the term rather than cutting it back

This Jones Trade makes sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Cannon</b></div><div>Or keep your players under 22. And move the older guys like Jones and werenski but keep guys who add to a positive environment like bjorkstrand and Atkinson. Add to your younger core. Just because your trading a 26 year old doesn’t mean your gonna be in a long rebuild. I’m missing the logic here. You don’t have to pull a sabers and literally trade everything not strapped down. Look at how that does. No leadership established and young guys flounder in the wind.</div></div>
If you’re rebuilding Atkinson (31) and Bjorkstrand (26) are the first to go.
CBJ was bad this year but they’re very young still. They’re committed to Laine so they need to find him a C. Jones wanting out is a blessing. He’s bad but his reputation around the league should get you that center. That’ll be a massive offensive boost. The back end will need some work but Werenski is very good so there’s a building block. A quality D addition to replace Jones and they’re well on their way to getting back to the postseason.

A Balanced Team Approach
Detroit passes and Bernier stays in Detroit for that low ball offer. Mark my words Bernier will get anywhere from 2-3 years at either $3,500,000 or close to $4,000,000 per season.

No Hockey In Winter Is The WORST
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tmclean64</b></div><div>Is there really that much of a difference though? I mean just taking a look at it:
Montreal Toronto - Doesnt change
Tampa, Boston, Florida are good teams.
Van, Calgary, Edmonton are good teams too but probably arent as high end as Boston-Tampa is.
Buffalo got better and isnt much worse than Winnipeg right now.
Id say its close to a wash because Tampa is the best team of the bunch and theyre out, but Buffalo is the worst and theyre out.
I think its worse for the Pacific teams. Ducks, Kings, Sharks, Coyotes out, Jets, Leafs Habs, Ottawa in is a much worse tradeoff.</div></div>
Yes all the Canadian Teams improved and made the playoffs. Detroit isn’t that good, Florida took a step back and don’t have much besides their first line on forward. Buffalo’s strategy is boom or bust it could really backfire tbh. So I could see Ottawa finishing as high as 5 in the Atlantic but I wouldn’t bet on it. But at least there’s a chance

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tmclean64</b></div><div>I like Jensen and hes been playing well of late in the KHL. Id say it is fair value. I wonder what Caps fans think of this trade?</div></div>
You’re thinking of the other Jensen, this Nick Jensen is a defenseman, a good skater, solid defensively and was one of the only players that played well in the playoffs for the Caps this year.
Leason would be tough to let go, but Virtanen really fits the Caps style imo. I’d be willing to do that, especially since we signed Schultz this offseason and we have Fehervary NHL ready.

This is how much Hughes and Petey will sign for
Despite the statements above this, I agree with your assessment kinda. Hughes on a bridge deal should be shy of 6M - about what you gave him. I don't think Pettersson takes a 3 year bridge though. He's set to get $, and it will cost a good bit to buy UFA years. My bet is 500k more than the Barzal deal.

Good job ,I really think Ferland startsthe season but ends up on LTI which allows Ericksson and Hawryluk back on the roster. This will probably occur before the 81.5 cap max is mandated.

youre probably right, but id like to see hawryluk make that decision tough for management. if ferland goes to LTIR of course, everything changes

Jims Plan 1 With Ferland
Agreed on Ferland, that seems likely.
This year, it is simply a transitional year.
Let some of these bad contracts off the books, like Sutter and Baertschi. Not much the Canucks can do atm. Everything is contingent, on the dollar figures for Petey and Hughes in 2021-22. After those deals (Loui's deal with a year remaining) more can be addressed, and hopefully, some of the kids, are ready to step up.

I've got my fingers crossed that Hoglander earns a spot on the roster and that Ferland is actually 100% healthy if he's going to play. Both would make a huge difference to the forward group.
