20 man rosters are not thing,
4.5m in carried over bonus overages puts you way over the cap
Paying a 1st and a 3rd to downgrade from Coyle to Dvorak to save 700k is just plain stupid. Thankfully Coyle saves you with his NTC and says….nah.

Nuckheads :shakehead 🙄
How many times do you need to be told that this is just not a thing?
“But….but….it makes sense!”
For you yes, for Boston no. Give it up.
As much as Boston would benefit from adding Bo long term they just can’t do it.
This hurts them this year and beyond.

I cant see the bruins keeping pasta at this point
Just for math puposes.
Pasta at 11
Bergy, Foligno, Luke Schenn or similar type at 1m
Freddy at 2
Sway 2.5
Lauko, McLaughlin, Bussi, DiPietro other B’s RFA at 800k.
Trade or Reilly for FC and Grizz for pick/prospect.
Lineup
Marchy-Bergy-Debrusk
Hall-Zacha-Pasta
Freddy-Coyle-Lysell
Foligno-Beecher-Lauko
Lindy-Mac
Zboril-Carlo
Forbort-Schenn
Greer
McLaughlin
That puts you at 78m cap with 1 d slot left to fill and room to cover overages.
If need be Sway could be traded as well and replaced by Bussi/Keyser. Would suck but Ullmark makes him expendable and could get a decent return of picks/prospects while saving another couple million.
It’s not a problem to sign Pasta.
The problem arises if Pasta signs and Bergy retires.

If they trade him this year, and they are not, that is a horrible return.

Next Years Re-tool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DoBap</b></div><div>They can definitely clear space. I'd say Horvat's most likely destination is Boston.</div></div>
No they really can’t.
58m currently for 13 players
4.5m in bonus overages.
62.5 m used
Pasta signs for 11-12m.
That leaves 10m for 9 players
Sway and Freddy take another 4-5
That leaves 5m for 7 players.
Reilly gone now its 8m for 8 players.
Math does not work. Not with Bo looking at 8+ and limited possibilities to move out.
Barring moving Ullmark out, there is just not a way, and that would be stupid.
They could try moving Coyle and Grizz. But replacing what Coyle does for them is a problem.
They are far better off convincing Bergy to come back another year.

Nobody plays with a 20 man roster.

Kane to Boston is not a thing. Terrible fit. 4 years is a joke too.
Freddy and Sway will get between 4 - 5m combined.
Domi gets better offer elsewhere

Bruins w Zacha - Read Description
That is a pipe dream. With only half a season remaining and few pieces to maneuver to recapture cap space it’s just not a thing.
He was able to “send players down” on off days that were waiver exempt in the past. He does not have that luxury now.
Even moving Smith and Reilly today taking nothing back would only save about 1m in actual cap space.
You are living in a fantasy world.

Yes its what they need.
I think Bjugstad or Acciari are the ideal targets for a FW.
But i like the idea of Nyqvist far more than i do P Kane.

Boston can’t sign both Pasta and Bo and Bergy is 50/50 to retire. DK is more likely to but they just extended Zacha who would likely be his replacement.

Kane is terrible fit for Boston as evidenced by the the cost and where you placed him combined with his style of play. They need a physical forward that can chip in some offense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>He played tonight, put up a goal and assist. He was out only a few days and probably only needed to miss one game as he skated in practice the day after, but they are cautious with Kane given his trade value.</div></div>
He was placed on IR the other day, apparently they pulled him off.
Per Elliot Friedman he needs surgery to clean up a lingering issue. There has been talk of shutting him down for the season and re-signing him to a 1 year deal and trying again next year.
Regardless, he’s the exact opposite of what this team needs. They need a big physical forward for the bottom 6 that can chip in some offense. And a physical d man. As i said before, terrible fit. Despite the rumor page rumblings I don’t see them having much interest. So many better options. Nor should they ever consider moving Lysell for a rental, that would be asinine.
If they are going to give up prime assets for a big name player much rather it was Chychrun. Much bigger need than a top 9 FW and has term. Would have a much bigger impact. Then flip Grizz for a 2nd and md level prospect.
I’d be happy with adding Bjugstad and Schenn. They don’t need to waste assets on a big name that does not fit their need.

How is the offer for Toews twice is good as the offer for Chychrun and bjugs?
The offer for Toews might get you Chychrun.
The pair of 2nds might get you Toews if he’s willing to waive.

After Bergy and Marchy he ‘s the best 200ft FW on Boston. He’s one of the league leaders in PK ice time and has become an elite PK. He wins over 50% of his faceoffs. Adds 40-50 points. Drives the play on the line. Strong as hell on the puck.
People just look at the contract and that he doesn’t put up .8 ppg and blow him off. Watch him every night you change your mind.

Zero chance Boston does that. Take out Foligno you’d have a better chance. But they are not using a 1st to move Reilly/Smith without something of value coming back. Smith contract expires and Reilly is depth insurance and cheap buyout in offseason.
The others are iffy as well. Calgary maybe but unless they still think they can make a playoff run they are better off just letting his contract run out.
