Lundell OS

Proposing an offer sheet isn't just about trying to be sneaking and stealing a player. It shows a certain cap hit at which FLA would have a hard time keeping him and another team could have him, all for a 2nd round pick, illustrating a starting point for trade value. It starts a discussion, it isn't meant to offend or troll fans of the other team.
I would personally give significantly more that a 2nd for Lundell.

Interesting idea for the Lee trade. That seems like something the Isles might go for. Definitely like it for the Hawks. I'd hate giving up Phillips in the Mikheyev deal. He should take that 2nd just to move. I'm also hoping Hawks can upgrade from Blackwell and Megna as depth guys.

An actual NHL team
I agree w/ <a href="/users/Wadejos123" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Wadejos123</a>. Hawks won't target a player like Lindholm, and he probably won't sign a 2 year deal on a rebuilding team anyway. I also think Nazar at least starts next season in Rockford. Don't like Bedard on a wing. Rest of it seems ok though.

2024 Mock Draft - Would you be happy ?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Hawks do not accept that trade up. We'd need at least one of your extra first's plus something else to move from 2 to 6</div></div>
Exactly, that value is painfully inadequate. Hawks would need more quality going their way.
I.E. Read either one of Slafkovsky, Huston, Reinbacher, or Ghule on TOP of the 6th OVA.
Which pains me to say, as a Wild fan.
Besides, Hawks are better off grabbing Demidov @2nd OVA. Pairing him with Bedard is going to cause problems for the rest of the league for the next decade plus. So if the Hawks DID move down, I'd be extremely grateful and happy. 😉

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>My issue with Lindstrom is that if he wasn't big he wouldn't be getting drafted this high. On a skill level I think Demidov is a lot better than him, and now Lindstrom is having some back/neck injury too? I won't be upset if the hawks take him but he's not my first pick either</div></div>
Demidov and Lindstrom are completely different players. Lindstrom is better than Demidov at most things, though. Demidov is certainly the more skilled and electrifying offensive forward with superstar potential, but Lindstrom is absolutely the more well rounded, projectable, all situations, 200ft player. If Demidov's offense doesn't translate, which is entirely possible, he will be a bust. Not that I don't love Demidov's game, but it's a risk when drafting high skill offensively geared players.
If you are gonna say "(insert player) is only being considered to be drafted this high because they are big", look no further than Levshunov. That kid is MASSIVELY overrated. Lindstrom is big and it is a clear advantage, but his game is not dependent on his size or physicality. I would even go so far to say that he is better defensively than Levshunov. His motor, compete, confidence, and intelligence are very high. The fact that he already knows how to use his size is a GREAT thing. Most guys get drafted due to size and have no clue how to use it and have to learn on the job and then everyone gets mad when they can't do it.
Again, I don't mind the idea of trading back, but a late 1st two years from now is not enough to get it done.
Also, none of my criticism of Demidov would stop me from drafting him 2nd overall. I would be cool with either player there. And there are a few others that, if CHI did take them at 2nd overall, I would understand and just hope for the best.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Catton is still really really good, so if you can add another 1st I think it's worth the drop. To me Catton, Lindstrom, Levshunov, Parekh are in a tier at 3-6, with Demidov alone at 2 and Celebrini at 1 of course. So if you can get an extra first and stay within that same tier I think it is worth it</div></div>
For sure. Catton is great and likely has a very successful NHL career ahead of him. But, I don't think the tiers are quite like that. Demidov and Lindstrom are clearly ahead of the rest, after Celebrini. I don't think that package is worth trading back, though. The difference in value between 5th and 2nd OA is much larger than a single 1st, that is likely in 2026, and that will likely be late. I would still be interested in trading back, but it takes a lot more. Also, hypothetically, if Demidov IS the clear #2, why wouldn't we just take him? Top 6 forwards are probably our biggest need, after all, and we need more sure thing top 6 forwards, not more "maybe" top 6 forwards. We REALLY do not need more quantity. We need more quality at this point.

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>I do think Korch and Nazar should be in Rockford next year. I know some folks think Nazar can and should go back for a third year at Michigan but I’m curious if NCAA vs AHL is better for his growth.
Dont mind the signings. Appreciate you sticking to the plan of 1-2 year overpay contracts for veterans who can be flipped.
I think Kaiser has a leg up on EDM for a roster spot though. EDM and Allan will likely be injury call ups all season long just like Crev and Phillips were.
I wonder if Reichel would sign a Hagel deal, 3yr $1.5M. I’d guess not since he has to believe he’ll improve and if he does he’s screwing himself. But if he does improve depending on the state of affairs Hawks could also flip him like they did Hagel and get more future pieces.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Agree with Nazar in Rockford, don't agree or think KK will go back there. So for that reason I agree with the Toffoli and Tanev (or Demelo) singings but not OEL. On top of the fact that KK will be in Chicago I also think Kaiser and EDM will see NHL games, so probably no need to bring in a LD unless it's in a 7th D role</div></div>
I'd like to think Korchinski puts on some more weight, matures a bit, and comes back next season having taken another step. But, I don't think they play favorites with him, he will be waiver exempt and his junior club won't be able to claim him. So, if someone outplays him in camp, I don't think CHI will hesitate to send him down. And rightfully so, you don't get real development by playing favorites and not demanding excellence. But I certainly could be wrong, they may see something in him that they need to get out at the NHL level where they can be more hands on with his development. It all depends how they are looking at it. But, I wouldn't take it for granted if I were him.

Trade down from 3 OA
Well done! Like all 3 of the UFA targets. Don't see Kyle going after two top 6 forwards, but I like the idea! I'm also a fan of the trade too. If the Hawks end up w/ the 3rd pick overall, I'm all for swapping it for the '24 Habs 1st and another '25 1st. I'd be gun shy to take Demidov at #3. And all the other top guys in this class after Celebrini, Leshevnov and Demidov are about equal so trading down 4 or 5 spots is fine.

Trade down from 3 OA
Hmmm... This is an interesting idea. My first reaction as a Hawks fan is that no way we pass on Lindstrom if he's there at #3 OA. Then I re-read a review of Catton's prospect profile and WOW... he'd be a terrific winger with Bedard.
At some point, I think the Hawks have to seek elite talent WITH SIZE. Which is why I surmise they'd still prefer Lindstrom at #3 (if he's there).
Gonna be interesting to see what happens on the draft board this year, once Celebrini is gone.

Trying to Project 2 years out
One of the more well thought out outlooks I’ve seen on here. I’d personally like to see the Hawks approach this offseason by signing guys like Marchessault or Stephenson from Vegas for inflated 2 year deals.
This TDL maybe sell high on Murphy to a contender if they overpay. I’m hoping TB keeps falling and Hawks can grab maybe a guy like Parekh or Silayev if they fall like Moore did (wishful thinking)
If ANYONE approaches the Hawks about Jones and he’s willing to waive his NTC. Do it.

Continuing our Nazar conversation: Unless KD does something like this and speeds up the rebuild considerably. Also, some of this young prospects might come along quicker being able to play with an experienced guy like EP.
I doubt KD does this, though. If that is 1st OA, I think KD just picks Celebrini and calls it a fantastic day.

Realistic Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Based on Nazar being way too good to back to NCAA again. The positive with Nazar that we didn't have with KK is that he can go to Rockford.</div></div>
I didn't buy that narrative with Korch and I don't buy it with Nazar, either. It's completely up to Frankie, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if he wants two full NCAA seasons. He is certainly a very good young prospect, but I think he could potentially have a lot to gain by going back for another year. His decision might hinge on what the other guys decide to do, though. If some of Michigans other top players are gonna move on, he might want to move on too, rather than being on a depleted roster that is in transition. Either way, though, he will likely need time in the AHL to even make the NHL roster, and even then he will probably need some time to acclimate and find his game at the NHL level at any sort of consistent pace. Then there is his size to consider, as well. He will have to learn how to be a small guy in the NHL with all these giants that are made of pure muscle. Again, I'm not gonna be surprised or upset or anything like that, if I'm wrong. But, I am also not going to bet on him or any of CHI's prospects being an impact players for at least 2-5 more years, including whoever we pick in the next few drafts.

I definitely like the approach however, I have serious questions about being able to convince Marchessault to sign for one year with a rebuilding team. Given his age I think he would want to sign with a competitive team and there should be more than a few that would love to have him. I think a serious overpay would be required and I don’t think $6m is enough.
As I have mentioned in another post, bringing in a veteran centre is appealing however, if the Hawks end up drafting Celebrini there may not be room in which case another winger (Teravainen) may be the route to go.

Trading Foegele is an option? You realize that at 5v5 Foegele scores as a 1st liner? His 26 points at 5v5 is #58 in the league and barely less than Guentzel's 32 points. And he doesn't have the luxury of playing 90% of the time with Sydney Crosby.
Foegele is one of the best value-for-dollar players in the league. You don't treat that as a cap dump.

Get the man help
I doubt Nazar plays with the Hawks out of the gates next season. More likely he plays in Rockford at least the first third of the season. There's no reason to rush him.
Vlasic is on the top line with Jones. Jones needs a big stay at home defender and looks much better with Vlasic.
Del Mastro, Philips, Kaiser, and Crevier should rotate in and out of the lineup until one of them emerges.
Put Kurashev on the RW IMO, he plays well on his off-side.
Put Reichel with AA as they've had chemistry in the past.
Celebrini would be great to land of course, and I do believe he would be ready right away, but the Hawks may end up keeping him in college for another season as they are in no rush. Lottery odds are still in favor of the Hawks not landing the #1 OA even as a last place team. In that case, Levshunov, Lindstrom, and Demidov would all be options and another season away anyway.
Giving Guentzel $8.5M for a player turning 30 years before the start of next season would be a mistake. The Hawks should NOT be adding any huge names, nor players on the wrong side of 30.
This team, while probably not as a bad as this year, still is in rebuild/tank mode next year, which is okay.
