No it wouldn’t. Be real.
1. You acquire Pettersson to play with guys like Thompson and Dahlin to help build the team competitively, not trade them for him.
2. Dahlin has no place in Vancouver. Hughes is already the #1 d-man and the PP guy so Dahlin would play behind him. That’s a step down for him and not where he’s best to succeed.
3. Pettersson is more in the Owen Power value range than Dahlin.

True but Buch is better than Senko, Copp and Bertuzzi. Does Joki really have that much value? he is traded so often here

A potential counter offer (From a rangers fan, so neutral)
Smith and 14th overall for Hutson and 5th Overall.
Obviously this trade would still never happen bc San Jose arent trading will smith, but I think this makes it alot more interesting for San Jose

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>internal bias and small sample sizes can lead to a lot of opinions, but that doesnt mean that he is on the same level as Smith. There is nothing that is motivating the sharks to make this type of deal. They can grab a dman with pick 14 or use next years pick to fill out that position. I think the likelihood of Smith being a franchise player is significantly higher than Hutson, not by a newhook of seperation.</div></div>
I can call that internal bias as well (Edit: just realized you're not a Sharks fan) Everyone doubts the small offensive defensemen... Until they don't!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your perspective!

Hell no. Newhook is a third liner and Hutson has yet to play an nhl season as an undersized Dman. The sharks already have a small Dman projecting in a similar way in Cagnoni. Smith has by far the highest potential in the trade

DRAFT IGINLA PLUS TRADE UP FOR EISERMAN
Utah passes, a late first and a top 10 protected pick for a 6th overall isn't enough. Gonna have to give up one of your stud defensemen, because that's what you're asking them to pass on.

That doesn't get you the 6OA. You have to know that, right? Couple of late 1st picks and a bottom pair defender...

I'm told that the contract had to be a certain number to get Fedotov to come to North America.
Not ideal, but understandable given the circumstances.</em></div></div>
Thank for the clarification! I was wondering why such a high AAV.

Pinto talked enthusiastically about how much he loves being here, how he loves the group, and how he's hoping they get the deal done soon. Said he's going to Worlds even without a deal done, but he was hoping they'd have a deal done before it starts. He'll have a new contract before the Draft imo.

I believe, if you look at the ufas he added, they are just names from the Sabres past. If not, I'm not sure what he's going for.
Desimone, Kane, foligno, and gilbert were all born in buffalo.

I think Holtz has about the same value as Newhook, so this seems fair. Maybe add a third going to Montreal

This is essentially what we paid for Newhook (Holtz is now the same age as Newhook when the trade happened). Nehwook did have better past production though, so Holtz should be a bit less, maybe changing the 2nd to MIN 3rd

Eh, barely more than league minimum; but, I wonder to what extent that are throwing a few extra $$$ in there just to keep him from bolting to the KHL.

God I hope the Canes pass I don’t want anything to do with that contract that’s 1.5 mill too much for 5 years longer than it should be.
And you’re right the difference isn't 2 2nds, it’s way more! Granlund is offensivly what you guys hoped JK would be! And not a 4th line overpaid problem.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>A 2nd for Brannstrom and another 2nd plus for KK? Why?</div></div>
Branny is probably worth a 3rd in this case a very late 2nd. He’s actually a very good puck moving defenseman, his issue is he’s been paired or stuck behind 2-3 other defenseman who want to move the puck also. Defensively he’s actually been one of our better guys, and he’s more physical than Chych/Chabot despite being smaller. If a team needs an offensive puck moving D he’ll prob look much better in a better situation.
