Taking a chance on KK as a reclamation project? KK is a good player but Don just screwed up with that contract

That’s the issue, the contract is horrible, he’s also not played well. Teams generally don’t pay a 2nd rounder on reclamation project

Yes the contract is awful... but the GM's spend draft and prospect capital on long-shot reclamation projects/ horrible cap situations (see Jesse Puljujarvi) all of the time so I wouldn't be shocked if Don was able to talk some GM into taking the contract

So with the deeper pockets comes completely assinine talent evaluators? No chance they give up those assets for KK, or Brannstrom and then top it off by massively over paying Brannstrom. Why do they trade Carcone ?

Branny is probably worth a 3rd in this case a very late 2nd. He’s actually a very good puck moving defenseman, his issue is he’s been paired or stuck behind 2-3 other defenseman who want to move the puck also. Defensively he’s actually been one of our better guys, and he’s more physical than Chych/Chabot despite being smaller. If a team needs an offensive puck moving D he’ll prob look much better in a better situation.

Yeah that 3rd rounder 5 drafts prior was a massive haul for pool party🙄

Late 2nd for Brannstrom gets accepted for sure. Could probably get Ottawa to throw a 6th back your way. Early 3rd is likely fine as well.

If the value on a trade is any lower than that I think they just keep him.

I disagree. I think the yotes would decline the trade and the Avs would take it 8 days a week. Drop down from 32 to what 42 for a second and a third sounds like a great deal.

Although I have a feeling that the Avs have a target in the first round. Someone like Richie that is an under the radar diamond.

It will be higher than 32 imo, and yes I believe they may have a specific target considering on how they've held onto it so even if it does end up lower I don't see them moving it. I'm thinking possibly Ritchie's OHL team mate Sennecke as he projects late first/early second. Probable late second and thirds in '25 & '26 also don't make up for missing out on a first for two years, especially if you play the percentage game.

If today’s game was any indication it will be a lot higher. Also I was at the Avs stars game and Georgie was not the problem for the first half. Actually he played really well despite the defense in front of him. The issue is heart and we don’t have it.

IDrop … from 32 to what 42 for a second and a third sounds like a great deal.

I missed who’s 2nd and 2rd it was in subsequent years. Probably not enough draft capital to get a first pick. It might be though. As I said in my first reply I think the Avs have a target for their first this year so the point might be moot.

I commented on a couple of 'bin Georgie' threads to that effect (not saying I wouldn't move him if the right deal was on offer of course, same goes for pretty much anybody). He wasn't really the problem against Winnipeg either. Defensive sloppiness is. No idea why they've suddenly forgotten how to play D this season as it's basically not much different to the cup winning D corps.........unless EJ was the one who always held them accountable perhaps? Heart certainly seems to be missing but besides MacKinnon they've basically lost all their 'true' leadership with EJ gone and Landy out. The way it looks right now it will be first round and out again, in possibly a worse fashion than against Seattle. Time for them to prove me wrong!
