It wouldn't let me add him as a free agent yet. The idea is he signs as a FA for a cheaper contract to boost his numbers with McD for 2-3 years.

Reimers not a bad goalie and the Oilers are desperate. It might seem like an overpay but if they are forced to sign a 5-6 mil goalie they don't to get to upgrade any of their skaters.

Id say no as Edmonton too. Lose 2 LD prospects to free up 200k in capspace, when we can just sign a UFA 2nd pairing LHD.
Maybe that fourth becomes a first if CBJ retains 50% of Duncan too. Then the Oilers come out ahead in capspace, CBJ gets 2 firsts in this draft.

Top 6 winger and first round pick for a contract that next season will cost 2mil over 2 years to buyout?

A Keith Deal that helps both Teams
I mean, we could shoe horn a trade like that and lose 2 assets. Or just sign UFAs like Oleksiak or Martinez, Saad, Schwartz or Coleman, and still buyout kosk and sign a UFA goalie.
Forcing this trade to work doesn't really make any sense.

Doesn't make sense man. Oilers take on more cap space, which isn't what we want to do, and Chicago trades down in the draft?
Oilers don't need higher pics, Chicago does.

We don't really need Lindholm tbh. And if we did, the offer would be closer to Oilers 1st, 2nd, and Broberg/Bouchard, Benson/Dmitri for Lindholm alone.

Casual lowkey trade
Doesn't make sense for either team. We lose a LHD prospect for a rental. We're already weak on the left with Klefbom as a question mark. McLeod is projecting to be our third line center, which we sorely need. He's clipping at a ppg in the AHL, with as many goals as assists. Murray would be nice as a rental for the playoffs. But that's about it.
On the other hand both Zacha OR Wood would be good players on McDavids left wing. Don't know if we'd need both though. On that point, swapping Zacha for McLeod just seems bad for NJD. The first rounder from NJD doesn't make any sense. It should be the other way around for taking Neal. Which we don't need, he can sit pat for one more season since we have enough room this offseason for additions, and then be bought out next summer 2022 at a 2x2.
Realistically the deal would be closer to
Oilers get: Wood, Murray NJD get: 2022 second rounder, 2021 fourth, Tyler Benson/Dmitri Samorukov, Alex Chaisson.
Don't think the money works for Murray though. So trade falls through anyways.

Wha... why would we trade our RHD who has 5 goals and 35 points... for a forward who has 2 goals and 19 points?
Makes no sense, making ourselves weaker at defense (already weak there) to make ourselves stronger at forward (not as weak as defense). Barries going to be an important part of our playoff run. If we're selling him, there's no point buying hall.

Don't get me wrong it's the exact kind of reclamation Ottawa would benefit from pursuing, but I don't think I'd even give a 2nd for him. I'd do something like Logan Brown and a 3rd or 4th, but I'm not going much beyond that.</div></div>
Yeah, Ottawa has some good Center depth with their prospects. Doubt they'd make a move to get another, but struggling, center.

Oilers Flyers could make a deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dutchies</b></div><div>You can't compare Hall. NJ knew they weren't gonna sign him. ARI was positive they would, and their GM was a complete idiot and is no longer in the league or allowed to work in it for the next year. Couturier has another year, is only 28 and will most likely sign an extension next year. Giroux on the other hand will be moved at the deadline for an offer like the one taken for Hall in 2020. Puhilly will try to push for this year (though it doesn't look good), and move pieces next year.</div></div>
Hmm yeah that's fair. I figured the Flyers were at the beginning of a rebuild not at the end. if they're looking for Couturier to be their center going into the playoffs it would make sense to keep him around right now.

They'd do it for a first round pick, and a second round pick, and a mid tier prospect. Maybe throw in Samorukov on top of it. Not really a favor. At this point they aren't even a playoff team. Possibly for next year too. After that Couturier would be a UFA.
2020 Hall was had for a first, a third, and three mid tier prospects, WITH 50% salary retained.

He's 28. 3-3.5 for 5 isn't bad at all, even if he ends up on the third pairing after 3. He's playing great hockey right now, which is fortunate/unfortunate for us. It brings him to 33 which isn't even old for a d-man. If he'd do 3 for 3 that'd be great, but I'm almost positive he'll get offers this offseason.

NJDs 21-22
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JJstings315</b></div><div>In a buy out, GM's are able to either front load or back load the buyout. So if you look at the buyout for Andrej Sekera with the oilers, Holland Front loaded the buyout so that he pays more in the first two years, and less in the last two. So instead of 8 Mill (2/3 of the total remaining contract value + remaining signing bonuses) spaced out over 4 years, the oilers front loaded the contract at 2.5 for the first two years, and for the last two they will pay less which gives them more cap space for the last two years (Next year and the year after) which is 1.5 for the last two. so instead of 2 mill x 4 he did 2.5 x 2 and 1.5 x 2.</div></div>
Not much point. Hold on to Neal for one more season and he's only 2mil x2. I'd think any trade to dump him would keep that in mind, so you're really only paying for one season at 5.7, and then the 2x2. Not really worth a first.
Although if that trade DID happen I wouldn't be upset, as long as we had a different trade or signing bringing in a 5mil left winger. If we did it just to do it, it would be dumb.
Man, I just looked to see what NJD have to sell, and your team is YOUNG

Oilers 2021-2022 Not actual Cap Hell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheGreatBigMac</b></div><div>Yes things are easing up but with this lineup Oil still need money to resign Nurse, Bear, and Jesse in 2022, which will be at least $4M more. The only cap relief is a Neal Buyout.</div></div>
And koskinen. So kosk gone is 4.5. Figure either Skinner gets a shot at near league min or we find a backup for 1mil. Russel is gone after next season as they'll want Broberg in that third pairing at league min freeing up another 600k or so.
Neal buyout in 2022 is 2mil against for 2 seasons. Freeing up another 3.7. So 8.3mil or so for raises. 2023 sekera and looch are completely off the books for another 2.2 mil.
Hardest part is finding a LW to make an impact the next two years until Holloway steps in.
