I love how people are undervaluing AA, he's probably the 2nd fastest player in the league (speed is the new size, I'd love to see a AA/McDavid race), scored 30 goals for a team that can't score with a reasonable shot rate (his high danger shots are off the charts). He would return at least a young #2 dman. Not a 3rd liner. He's definitely worth the 6mm he's going to get next year, and he's only 25 (maturing right on schedule).</div></div>
Kase is no 3rd liner. He has 35 goal, 70 point potential on a cheaper contract. Watch a couple games of his this year, you'll be surprised.

Montreal fans won't be too pleased to see Gallagher go but turning Gally into two 1st's and 2 prospects (mostly Vaakanainen) would be pretty impressive. That's probably what it would take to get a deal done.

Wings have no need for Aho. Remove the Wings 2nd and 3rd and it probably gets done. Wilde had a nice D+1 season, however the Wings passed on him twice in the 2nd round in 2018, so not sure how high they are on him.

Getting another 2020 1st
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>This is what I've been thinking about Yzerman is not the type of guy or GM who is going to take the word of someone else when it comes to player on his team, he's going to make his own decision about what type of player and what type of person he is. Since he wasn't able to join the Wings until TB's season was over I wouldn't expect any big moves at least until after camp is over and since he is not big on trades at the TDL you might not see a big trade until next off season. Since the Wings aren't a playoff team this year why not sit back and see how some of the prospects pan out and then he will have a better idea of what he needs. So far it's what he has been doing and I think it's the right move but it does make for a VERY BORING offseason.</div></div>
It's for sure likely that Yzerman would like to wait until camp before he makes any serious moves. Being in the same division and having a whole year off to scout the NHL more thoroughly has got to ease the evaluation process though. Assuming he was only going to take a job in Detroit if it became available, you can be sure he paid close attention to the Wings this year.
You can also bet that he has reached out to the Athanasiou/Mantha/Bertuzzi camp and tried to get an idea of what they're looking for in their next contracts. So he should have an idea of who is going to be easier to sign than who and which he wants to give the money too. In that respect, if he is willing to trade an Athanasiou/Mantha he needs to make calls sooner than later before he runs into a Trouba situation. It's much easier to trade either one now, with one year @3M before RFA status than it is to trade them next off season without a contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>feds91stammer</b></div><div>Bean could easily take one of the LD spots in the top 4.</div></div>
Wouldn't say its easy. Slavin - Faulk was rock solid for the majority of the playoffs so it's hard to see them breaking that pair up. Then you have to beat out Hamilton, Pesce and/or Fleury to get the other LD top 4 spot, that's no easy task for a 21 y/o with 2 NHL games under his belt.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>feds91stammer</b></div><div>Switch Bean to Fleury and maybe CAR considers it.</div></div>
Carolina can afford to let Bean walk with a player like Mantha coming back. Their top 4 is solid, if Bean is the 5/6 D on Carolina, they're almost better off keeping Fleury and getting a solid asset for Bean.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Why though, Detroit has a lot of good young defensemen in the system, I think they need Athanasiou far more then Gostisbehere.</div></div>
Detroit has a surplus of young wingers and only one bonafide top 4 D man going into next season and that's Hronek.

Ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I agree with you most of the time but not here. Last offseason he spent a lot of time working on his defense. Now I don't see him winning a Selke but his defense has improved and it slowly got better through out the season. That's why he got more and more ice time as the season progressed. He proved to Blashill he was willing to put in the extra work and now he is one of Blashill's favorite players. I'm assuming with his speed he didn't have to play a lot of defense coming up through the ranks and he's learning to play defense against the best players in the world.
As for the trade Frolik is to old to fit in to Detroit's plans and I think Kylington is going to be a good player but if Detroit moves AA a top pair defenseman will be of the deal maybe 24 to 27 yrs old.</div></div>
Detroit just can't afford to sign Mantha and Athanasiou to possible 6.5+M with term with so many young wingers coming up. Zadina, Hirose, Ras, Svech and Berggren should all be in the lineup before AA's next deal expires. I'm a big fan of AA but his agent is known for putting up a fight and I'm not sure I wanna pay him that kind of money right now.
As for Frolik, he is merely a cap dump from Calgary to help them sign their remaining RFA's. We can ship him off at the deadline as a rental for a 3rd round pick, maybe a 2nd if we're lucky.
Think of the trade as a 1st, 2nd (potentially a 3rd) and Kylington.

Mantha is a streaky player, and with tons of wingers coming up the pipeline he can be expendable. The true need for this team is #1/2 defenseman and that's Werenski. I have high hopes for Cholowski but Werenski is just that much better.

I think he means we took two #1 D's in the last 2 years. That's even worse, if who I'm assuming is Cholo and Hronek are #1 D than Detroit would not need Byram. That's a horrible evaluation.

Honestly depends on what Tampa tries to do this off season. If you need the cap space, #27 and Callahan for #66 is not bad value.
In regards to Detroit's D, Hronek is the only elite prospect we have on the back end. If you don't think Detroit wants Byram you should go do some research.

Why not? As much as I like AA myself, he is the most replaceable player in the top 6 IMO.
If Hronek gets to the level of Trouba, great, would you rather not have 2 #2 defenceman than 1? Top paring D are the biggest need on this team by a long shot, 50 point wingers can be replaced by young guns (Zadina, Hirose, Veleno) or free agency. It's a simple model.

I agree, Raddysh is likely to be the player traded with Callahan but I bet Yzerman would go after Cirelli. I based this off of the Bickell dump to Carolina:
Bryan Bickell & Teuvo Teravainen for 2nd & 3rd.
Teravainen just finished his rookie year when he was traded, obviously not the player Chicago wanted to lose but sometimes you gotta give to get.
