Selling in 2020 and Prediction for the 2021 after the Draft
I would do all those trades in a heartbeat, tho I doubt FLA or WPG would, and the guys I'd want to protect (that ik need to be... I forget the ED rules for forwards) are
Raks
Ehlers
Kase
Ritchie
Steel
Terry
Lindholm
Weegar
Mahura
Gibby

I Saw a rumor - What would you give for Rakell
If we could get a player capable of 30-40 goals, relatively young on a good contract that would fill a need for us. Oh wait that's Rakell. In all seriousness him moving is only considered for an Elite RD, which no team will or should give up for him.

I Saw a rumor - What would you give for Rakell
As <a href="/users/Salzy" target="_blank">@Salzy</a> says, the only reason Anaheim would move Rakell is to acquire a cornerstone RD like Filip Hronek, Charlie McCoy, Cale Makar, Colton Parayko, Jacob Trouba, Matt Dumba -- and nobody's trading those. Closest I can come to a fair deal is Rakell plus for Brett Pesce and the lesser of Carolina's two first-rounders.

They either stay afloat the next few weeks with Manson out (Lindholm could be back tomorrow) or they take the high draft pick and get after it next season. Next year is when I expect the ducks to be serious in contending for at least the playoffs as they grow to SC contenders. They have plenty of cap and trade pieces to add basically whatever they want.</div></div>

Giving up potentially Lafreniere on top of Terry, Ritchie and a second for a LD (which we don't need) to try and "fix" the roster this season would be horrible mismanagement. Ghost would not make us a playoff team

I just saw what an impact that line had against Chicago on Sunday night and I would love to see if for a full game and go from there. I'm indifferent with Shore. I thought he played well in the first 2 games but after that its been kind of shakey. Fair enough, I love Comtois but didn't think he would be utilized great on the 4th line. I would love to see this team to start burying some of their chances though.
You make a good point on bringing Lundestrom up. Terry reminds me of Getzlaf and not wanting to shoot. I still don't think I would sit Terry though. Maybe sit Jones instead of Terry and bring Comtois back in the lineup.</div></div>
What about:
Comtois-Getzlaf-Kase
Rakell-Henrique-Silfverberg
Ritchie-Steel-Terry

Totally agree with this. Terry has been driving me crazy this year. It's funny, I remember watching him in the Frozen Four a few years ago thinking, "Man this kid the most talented player on the ice but he holds onto the puck a lot. Not sure that's gonna work in the NHL." He doesn't have Getzy's size to be able to shield off defenders allowing him the time and space to justify holding onto the puck that long. And every time I see him and Getzy together it's like "Welp, I guess no one is going to shoot the puck on this line." Terry watching the game from the press box, or even playing in San Diego for a game or two, might light a fire under his ass to get him to be more assertive with the puck.

I think Steel is best utilized at center though I get the impulse to give him a better opportunity being on the top line. I think Shore has no place on this team. Not talented enough to be a top-6 guy and not fast and gritty enough to be a bottom-6 guy. Comtois brings the most effort and generates the most chances of our young guys so I wouldn't take him out of the lineup. He can swap with Jones though. I'm starting to worry that kid just doesn't have the hands for the bigs.

Your analysis in your Team Explanation is spot on. This is still a quality team from top to bottom as long as people don't expect bottom-6 forwards to score 20 goals. A four-, five, even eight-game losing streak in the middle of the season wouldn't cause anyone sensible to panic, so you folks shouldn't do so just because that streak has occurred at the start of the season.
That being said, your angst looks lovely from Southern California.

It isnt, Lindholm isn't being moved unless the Ducks are completely blown away, even then he's near untouchable. This deal doesn't move the needle nearly enough

Basing anything off of last year is a bad idea. Everyone were at record lows. If you look at 17-18 Season, Rakell was 34/35/69 while Drouin was 13/33/46. Kase was 20/18/38 in just 66 games. Drouin is just simply not the best forward.

Yes, I specifically left Shore out of the first sentence of my original comment because he isn't a piece of the core going forward. And before you strain your shoulder patting yourself on the back for allegedly being "two steps ahead" of the rest of the world in considering the expansion draft, allow me to point out that your response to my comment is in direct conflict with the announced purpose of your Lindholm trade, which is theoretically because "with Seattle draft coming up they will either lose one of their young dmen or an established dman"; as you point out, they are much more likely to lose a forward.

Shore and Lindholm are 25 and Kase is 23. They are PART of the rebuild. And at least Kase and Lindholm should be a core part of the team for the next 5 years. And unless one of Guhle, Larsson or Mahura suddenly develops into a top-4 defender in the next 2 seasons, I wouldn't mind losing one of them if it means holding on to Fowler, Lindholm and Manson.

Big Moves
Not comfortable with the Laine trade, even if we did get Risto I would be against moving Manson unless we get another young RD (could be a different trade/move), Value wise I can live with it though it is alot, Laine is worth alot
Can't see LA doing that trade, they could get more elsewhere and I can't see them wanting Toffoli in the Pacific
I'd rather keep Kase and Manson then have Sheary and Risto. I may value Kase too high but I would want a pick or RD prospect back over Sheary, I don't see his fit in ANA

Big Moves
So we would exchange Rowney and Grant for Sheary, which is at best a lateral move, Manson for Ristolainen and Kase for Toffoli, both of which are significant downgrades, and Lundestrom, Sideroff and a second for Laine, which is probably a big upgrade but might not be if any of the three prospects turns out. I don't see that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages and possible negatives of all of these moves.
