Does Vegas have enough to make a deep playoff run this year
I don't get all this talk about Vegas' defense. Their defense looks nearly identical to last season, aside from Colin Miller, and they were a very good defensive team. Don't get me wrong I like Colin Miller as a player, but I don't think losing your 3rd/4th defenseman is the worst thing in the world, especially when you have a forward group like Vegas. Personally, I think their goaltending is more of a question mark than their blue line.

Anaheim
The Ducks have Lindholm, Fowler, Guhle, Larsson, Mahura on LD plus Jackson Lacombe yet to be signed, so Ryan Lindgren, as decent a prospect as he may be, isn't someone the Ducks need or want.
In addition to the five young players listed by <a href="/users/awatt" target="_blank">@awatt</a> , Anaheim has Ryan Getzlaf (still one of the premier passers in the NHL), Jacob Silfverberg (still one of the premier two-way forwards in the NHL), Rickard Rakell, Adam Henrique and a recovering Ondrej Kase, in addition to Daniel Sprong and Nick Ritchie. That leaves room for three forwards at best. Namestnikov might replace DesLauriers or Carter Rowney or Derek Grant, but why make the effort of a lateral move?

"Taking advantage of the Ducks cap space"
Thats something the Ducks can do, not the rangers, the Ducks can leverage the rangers lack of cap space and pay a lot less than a third in a deal they have no need to do

Faulk to ANAHEIM

Faulk is a want, it’d be nice if they can extend him but Kase or Rakell is NOT GOING ON THE OTHER WAY. Lmfao. Kase is 2 cap hit and Rakell is just under 4. Both are top 6, with easy cases to be a top 3 player. Kase is he can fit in 82 games and improve on His last campaign; will absolutely sky rocket in value. Rakell is a solid player. Anaheim should keep both as they bring more value to their team than Faulk, and could be traded for more than Faulk.
Carolina can keep Faulk and trade him at TDL if they’d like a better return. If Anaheim loses a 2020 first or Kase or rakell for Faulk their gm needs to be fired.</div></div>
Spot on here. If the Ducks were going to trade Rakell, it would be for Laine. And we know that wont happen. Wpg wont trade Laine to the west unless they get a Rakell, young D and a 1st .

Out of the Box Thoughts on Line Combinations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Gudbranson is a death wish, target Ristolainen. He has much more upside and is way younger.
As for the lines, Kase shouldn't be on line 4. Bottom 6:
Silfverberg-Steel-Kase
Ritchie-Rowney-Shore</div></div>
The only reason I have Kase down there for the start of the season is that he's rehabbing and getting back up to speed. I hope I'm wrong and that Ondrej is ready to go from training camp and the first game. He belongs on the first line. I see a lot of promise there.

Also, I would switch Kase with Sprong. Comtois-Getzy-Kase would be fun to watch and I could see Kase breaking 30 goals.</div></div>
I don't think that Guhle-Fowler will be terrible. I just think that Fowler-Gudbranson is a pairing that might actually work.
The only reason I have Kase down on the fourth line is that I'm afraid he will take some time to get back to his performance level after the injury, rehab and time off.

Top 20 goalies
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PenGoater99</b></div><div>Lmao you think Fluery is a top 4 goalie when in reality, he really isn't. He posted a -2.24 GSAA and a 77.04 HDSV this past season.
Binnington only has a half-season sample size, and even then he played for a really good defensive team and was really lucky
Murray also has better underlying numbers than Vasilevskiy. 11 GSAA vs 0.98. 84 HDSV% vs 77.
Murray is also better than Rask too by those same metrics, and Rask plays for a far superior defensive team.
Price also hasn't been that good since the year he won the Hart trophy.
So my point still stands, Murray is a top 10 goalie.</div></div>
Vasilevsky has had back to back 40 win seasons. Reguardless of how good his team is he is still part of what makes it so good.
Price has carried a team that had 71 pts, 4th last in the league to almost making a playoff spot.
BOB is constantly in the talks for the vezina, puts up great stats
Fleury has taken the VGK to the playoffs in back to back years. They had no business even coming close in the debut season and he carried them to the final
Binnington just took the last place team in the league to the finals victory. You can say its luck all you want but after 50 games of dominance it stops being luck
Lehner just led the NHL in SV% and GA AVG
Rask put the bruins on his back and carried them to the final
Anderson is the only bit of defense the leafs have
Holtby consistently plays 60 games and is a corner stone in net for the caps
Gibson has also played about 60 games his past two seasons and is one of the few bright spots on a bad Anaheim team.
Matt Murray has yet to play more then 50 games. Is constantly injured. And even though has his name on the cup twice. Has played a full playoffs once, and the one time he played a full playoffs he only played 13 games in the regular season. He is not reliable because he is always injured.

ANA trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>^All very true. I wasn't saying that ANA would be saving money overall on the deal, just that there is a small portion of actual salary that team's have to cover when they're on LTIR that the insurance companies don't (not sure what the ratio is though).</div></div>
Oh ok. It depends on the coverage. If it's insured, it anywhere from 85-100%. The actual dollars are peanuts at that point though right? Plus the player can be placed on LTIR to spend over the cap if need be.
I guess it comes down to is 6M over 3 seasons worth Lockwood, a 2nd and a 7th? IMO nope nope nope.

I think it would be somebody like Carlo or Pulock. A solid #2 RD. Or a guy on the cusp of #2-#3 RD plus a high pick. (I know you saw my Silfverberg and a third for Mayfield and a first.). Nick Jensen and Dylan Demelo come to mind. Silf is closer to Pesce than Faulk, but Carolina isn't trading the former and we don't want the latter. Rasmus Andersson would be nice, but Calgary isn't trading him, either.

Risto Trades ANA WPG TOR EDM
Those ANA trades are laughable, you're getting the future face of their franchise for a number 4 d man and like a 4th, bc LTIR contracts really don't have that much negative value, and you're getting a team that needs goals desperately their best pure goal scorer most likely (ik Silf is there, but Sprong is good at one thing, shooting the puck, that's it) and their best offensive driver of play who had one of the best points/60 last year league wide...
