Erik Karlsson is not the problem where were at

Description
Had a AGM in the works keep seeing comments and a couple AGMs about Karlsson over the last 2 days

If Karlsson had walked there would have been as much criticism towards the sharks as there is now; guaranteed and we all know it. His contracts length is scary, not the price id say as of now. 0-4 is not Karlssons fault; it’s the TEAMS fault as stupid as it is there is no I in team. The teams is playing terrible for 20 minutes atleast a night, we can’t expect to win games if we out play them 1 period, get molested for 1, and a mixed period where in all three we still have multiple turnovers. Jones has not been terrible and has at times made fantastic saves; but he isn’t playing AMAZING, nor are the team. If we put up 1-2 goals; go above 5 turnovers in our own end and neutral zone and expect jones to start making 3+ goal saving saves a night it’s just not gonna happen; he’s made atleast 1-2/3 a game it seems (game 1 he literally saved what seemed like 4 goals); but we can’t say hey it’s his fault when I’ve seen atleast a handful of 2 on 1’s a game or close to it, or a turnover infront of the end between the hashmarks.

Kane looked very good in game 1 I think, Melker Karlsson as I “joked” about being the best shark actually has been really good, Bergmann aswell.

Couture, Meier, Labanc, Hertl all have not found their stride; they’re having looks but aren’t putting it all together yet.

I think the issue is a lack of depth and not a good team at stopping opposing teams (defense are too forward oriented and bad goaltending).

I cannot comment on Dell and what his ceiling is as an NHL caliber goalie. I know Shestorkin is the heir apparent to Lundqvist apparently but if georgiev can actually play i feel like they would want a different package. not a potentially late 2nd+3rd fringe player and a backup goalie.

What happens when you're in the Cup conversation for a decade +...... it catches up to you.

Wilson has pulled rabbits out of his hat, bit the loss of Little Joe cannot be understated. Not sure if he has a trick up his sleeve to turn it around.

Might be best to take a step back tontake two steps forward.

The issue is they also dont have most of their picks in the next couple of years

Major problem for Sharks is that vlasic is starting to age quicker than they wanted to, burns is an offensive defenseman plays pretty average defense, karlsson is a 2 way but is much better offensively than defensively. Jones isnt good enough to support that dcorp. They went all in with EK. They should have traded for a better Defensive dman and added to the top 9.

Your analysis in your Team Explanation is spot on. This is still a quality team from top to bottom as long as people don't expect bottom-6 forwards to score 20 goals. A four-, five, even eight-game losing streak in the middle of the season wouldn't cause anyone sensible to panic, so you folks shouldn't do so just because that streak has occurred at the start of the season.

That being said, your angst looks lovely from Southern California.

We can’t sign and trade that’s dumb, so we can’t trade for a defensive dman without hurting our top 6 and therefore creating a new problem

I may be “panicking” but counting us out this early is laughable; wait till mid season and if we’re .500 than yes go ahead.

Jones hasn’t been the problem if you read the description and if you did I’d say it’s the lack of cohesion, we are showing flashes of greatness but not consistent; or not capitalizing on chances and than making too many turnovers as a whole team in neutral and own zone, yes the offensive minded d men makes sense but it’s not like I’m looking at the defence and going “yeah that’s our problem”, it’s the whole team making dumb mistakes and no playing together. They’ll playing as individuals and sometimes playing together but with such in betweenness turnovers are gonna happen and it’s the case and point here. We enter the neutral zone; bad pass. Trying leave our zone; not ready for the pass, trying to enter the zone on our own back no help, ok that doesn’t work ok let’s try a stretch pass; oh wait intercepted Center ice top of the blue. It’s just poor decisions. The team needs to start playing together and the coaches need to start lighting a fire underneath guys.

I meant INSTEAD of trading for EK. I guess if they plan on dumping burns or vlasic soon but those 3 guys have great player contracts and terrible team deals. Pacific division is pretty soft so sharks could navigate out of an 0-4 start no problem. Its the start of the year usually give it to about thanksgiving to assess teams but you can kind of see this one going worse than planned..

I further my argument by showing that the Sharks have the lowest average draft position per player in the NHL (source: The Athletic).

That maybe says everything about where this team is at the moment. So it maybe time to unbox the panic button.......

Don't count us out even if we're .500 by mid-season. I get that this is not the norm, but STL was bar-none the worst team in the league in terms of their record and we know how that story ended.

Get to the POs healthy with good habits and anything can happen. Although this team needs Toffoli.
