mayfield doesn’t move the needle for me, he’s serviceable but he’s going to get overpaid and he doesn’t have the traits we need (the ability to move the puck and run a power play). ghost is someone i’d be interested in as well.

Barrie had 28 PP points while playing with McDavid and Draisaitl. Dobson would put up that many points too if he had those players around him.
Barrie would not move Dobson to PP2, and would be another weak defensive RD with Dobson. He is not a fit.</div></div>
barrie also got traded midseason so the comparison isn’t really fair, not sure whether that number is total (which would include his time on the preds’ PP2 behind josi) or just for the 60 games he played in edmonton but either way it’s a better number than dobson. if you have another idea for a good puckmoving RD we can either sign or trade for at low cost, please let me know. gryzcelyk is someone i’d be interested in but he’s an LD which wouldn’t be ideal.

he’s not great defensively but i think if they use him properly, he fills our biggest need at a pretty reasonable cost. having a guy who can actually enter the zone and run a good power play on the third pair would be good for us

caufield is much worse defensively than zegras, dude is a one tool player and his one tool is finishing. i could see him hitting 50 goals once or twice but i don’t see him doing it every season (because almost no one does).

I think honestly it make sense for both teams</div></div>
disagree, the ducks have more high-end talent in their system and imo zegras can succeed on the wing. their d-prospects are really good so in a year or two when those guys are all up they'll be pretty competitive. don't think montreal (personally) has so much more that they'll be better sooner, and i think the ducks have a higher ceiling than montreal does right now.

ANA is better off continuing to rebuild through the draft instead of wasting Zegras, because they are too far away at this point.</div></div>
zegras is like 21, he's not getting wasted any more than caufield (who is the same age) is by montreal

Karlsson to the Island
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Megalodon</b></div><div>Karlsson isn’t as bad at D as everyone on here says. Pulock isnt even close to the impact that Karlsson makes, like not even the same planet my guy.</div></div>
no question karlsson is better than pulock, but pulock is still at worst an elite second pair player next year. again if we’re giving up this much i’d rather get a player who’s going to be a part of the core for the long haul and not someone who could go back to being good to meh as soon as next year. this isn’t a team that will give karlsson the open ice to do what he does best because no one else aside from barzal is really capable of playing that style. not to mention karlsson was riding the best shooting percentage of his career this year, almost double his average.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Megalodon</b></div><div>The Islanders are win-now. Evidence of that was the Horvat trade. Nothing gets them closer to the finals than the Norris winner. It makes total sense.</div></div>
getting rid of pulock to add karlsson upgrades the PP but doesn’t make a significant enough difference imo to make them an actual cup contender. that said i’m not really a believer in the team at all and wish they’d never traded for horvat and rebuilt instead. if they’re going all in like this they should try to get kyle connor or someone like that, not karlsson
