Penguins lines

This must be his preferred line combos because Acciari is out with a concussion, and the rest is all messed up. Pens are rolling with Jake Sid Rust, Smith Malkin O'Connor, Rak Eller Pulj, Harkins White Carter.

You act like he's got a 40% corsi. He doesn't.
He's an average defenseman on an average AVA. Period.
I know it maybe hard for you to accept but the other team scores too.
Fact the penguins are the only team not in the playoff hunt who aren't a net - in gf/ga
That says a lot for a team having difficulty scoring.
That's because the defense has played relatively well.</div></div>
Did you just use corsi? Good lord.

If they are out they make this move, and then deal with it in FA again.
If they are in, they stay with what they got.</div></div>
They accept that even without the first. Graves has been a mess and he is signed long term. This gives us a decent winger and an extra 1.75 in cap space to bring in a rental D for the stretch run. This is a slam dunk move for the Pens.

What I would do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DogDayCaps2</b></div><div>Idk if they can realistically rebuild. Crosby looks way too good still and they just traded for EK. I think they have no choice but to go all in.</div></div>
I agree completely. But I think they would be more inclined to pull the trigger on that Dowd deal rather than getting NAK and Mantha.

Orlov isn't remotely close to the defensive presence that Pettersson is. It's a joke you can even think that. The only thing Orlov has on MP is a great shot, Pettersson can barely hit the net.

Canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Orlov's on the third pairing because Skjei and Slavin are also top pairing caliber D men, it's not an indication of his play. Orlov gets a lot of O zone starts, but every Canes D pairing does because they Canes dominant O zone pressure. If you're trying to argue that TOI is the deciding factor, you're beyond help.</div></div>
You fail to recognize my point. Pettersson is a highly used defensive presence who has high end underlying numbers and top pair production at 5v5. So despite his usage and heavy reliance on D he still manages to put up points at a top pair rate with great defensive metrics. If you think I was only using TOI as a deciding factor you should really get some reading comprehension help.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Orlov's better than Pettersson, in every category. Petterson is a fine top 4 D man. He's good. Orlov walks onto almost any teams top pairing.</div></div>
Orlov is literally on your 3rd paring right now playing only 16 minutes a night. He gets almost twice as many offensive zone starts compared to D zone starts. He is sheltered by two other D pairs and zone starts. Pettersson meanwhile actually plays top pair, over 22 minutes a night, twice as many Dzone starts as Ozone starts, heavily relied on PK'er and good producer of offense at 5v5. I wouldn't trade him 1 for 1.

Question for Pens Fans
Pens will probably trade Jarry near the end of his deal as part of a rebuild and Blom will be waiting to take over. Could be a tandem with Jarry as early as next year.

They are not a cup contender. There is no chance this team wins a cup. At best they will be a just got in, 1st round and out.
If they can get an asset they might. Especially if they have faith in Bloom. Which I think they do. His play in WBS has been pretty solid from all the game highlights I've watched.</div></div>
Ned is a proven NHL goalie who has been good all year. A random asset like a sub mid goalie prospect isn't worth it.

If they are in the playoff hunt they aren't trading away a proven NHL goalie with a .918 save% just to try a prospect out.
