I’m guessing by the age problem.. it’s not really to do with Miller and Ardvisson as they are the same age.. more so Fabbro and Schmidt side of the deal which is fair because of the age difference. What happened with Fabbro in the playoffs and down the stretch? I was very surprised he was a scratch in playoffs and played Carrier and others over him. Obviously I’m a fan of his and think he would be a good fit for Van</div></div>

I see Miller's monster season from two years ago as an aberration, not a trend. While Arvidsson's reduced production over the last couple years may be a sign he's slowing down, I feel the way John Hynes uses him has a lot to more to due with the drop. He's not being put into a position to succeed anymore.

Obviously the getting older aspect for NSH is about the Schmidt-Fabbro age discrepancy. Given NSH's core defensemen are getting older, adding a 29 year old with term is absolutely the wrong direction for them. There's still the issue of the extra salary NSH is taking on here too. Miller makes a million more than Arvidsson, and Schmidt gets paid about twice what Fabbro's next contract will likely be.

Fabbro getting scratched in the playoffs was a bit of a surprise for me too, but Carrier did out play him this season. Carrier's years of experience in the minors showed, while Fabbro who got rushed straight to the NHL is still showing some growing pains. The organization still seems very high on Fabbro though.

I feel like giving up a first for two year of Manson is a lot. I know you get to dump Beagle in the deal but essentially Manson and Cernak bring similar skill sets.. so I feel a puck moving dman that can drive transitional play and run a second power play would be good to pair with Edler. As for big RW as a place holder.. they have Zack in the system who fits that description who would cost under a million dollar a year. Not sure if he is ready for 3rd line deployment if that’s the case Leivo is a better fit than AA. Pacquette is a waste of a pick if Sutter is being healthy scratched. Although overpaid Sutter brings as much value as Cedric in a 4th line capacity. Also signing Toffoli will cost them the 4th round pick you gave away in that trade as it is conditioned on the Toffoli trade. Finally I don’t think it is wise to rush Hoglander to the NHL. Let him season a year in the AHL if it happens get used to North America sized ice and I think he would be ready to make the jump next season. Overall good thoughts just my honest assessment on your post</div></div>

I didn't really know who to pair who with on the defense so I'd be open to switching them. I would've been open to bringing in a more of puck moving dman if we hadn't signed Myers, plus I see Rathbone being that 2nd unit PP QB in a few years anyways. I think they need to focus on being more defensively sound and I think it take both Manson and Cernak to do it. I also thought about putting Macewen on the 3rd line but I agree that I don't think he is ready for the 3rd line yet. I also forgot about the condition on the Toffoli signing but I'm not really a fan of Sutter which is why I brought in Paquette I just think he's faster and willing to be more physical. I also don't think there is going to be an AHL season so I think giving him sheltered minutes on the 3rd line is much more significant to his development then sending back to the SHL. I'm also pretty sure I read an interview from him saying he wouldn't go to the AHL anyways. But I appreciate your thoughts
