Fire Jim- Dream summer

Initial Creation Date: Sep. 9, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade 1: Ottawa fans on capfriendly have laid the ground work for this trade. I think this trade makes some sense. Make no mistake Loui is a massive cap dump against the cap but actual money he is a played Melnuyk can stomache. His cap hit is 12 million over the next two season but his actual salary is 5 million over the next two seasons. Boeser is the best player in this trade and will be a top line player for years to come. Van gets white who is coming off a tough year but replaces Boeser on the right side although is a big downgrade. Van also gets a RHD prospect which they could use plus two picks which they need.. Ottawa has 2 other first round picks and 3 seconds so they should be okay moving two picks.

Trade 2: Two players who need a change of scenery. Buffalo is deep on RHD and weak on RW so this trade makes a lot of sense. Buffalo also has use for a 4th line Center they get a second round pick because although Beagle would fill a need on the team he is over paid.

Trade 3: Anderson is coming off a tough year and a significant injury. He seems to be on the outs in Columbus and generally on capfriendly a 2nd round pick is the asking price. Columbus could use a Center in their depth chart and get Gaudette the former Hobey Baker winner a 23 year old Center coming off a 33 point season in 59 games. I believe Gaudette carries more value than Anderson due to age and production therefore Columbus has to take on Roussel. He is a dump therefore they get a 3rd for including him in the deal.

Trade 4: Not sure how Colorado values Compher. I am a fan of his and think he would be a great 3rd line Center. Colorado obviously has Mackinnon Kadri and Newhook coming up the middle so Compher could be expendable. I think a first round pick may be fair value.. not sure what Colorado thinks... but I think it makes sense as they have cap space now but getting a player on an ELC in 2 or 3 years when they will need the money for a player who will become expendable in a year or two might work?

Trade 5: Could be to any team.. Benn is a serviceable 6/7 dman at 2 million for one more year. Whoever takes him gets a 4th and a 6th round pick

Trade 6: Can be to any team.. we’ve seen this in the past where teams give up a mid round pick in order to negotiate with a player prior (ex. Kevin Hayes last year)

This looks like a team that can compete for the cup. Also gives them over 30 million next summer to resign Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, and Juolevi

Vegas protection is 7/3/1
Pettersson, Miller, Horvat, White, Compher, Anderson, Lind
Montour, Juolevi Rafferty
Demko

Hoglander Pettersson White
Miller Horvat Podkolzin
Ferland Compher Anderson

I think Buffalo would do that. They would really love to get Gaudette too, but I don’t see them giving up more assets to make that happen.

I'm not giving that much for Boeser if I'm also taking Eriksson. I like Boeser a lot,but if Ottawa takes Raymond 5th, I'd rather target a Dman.

Can you Clarify what you mean by rather targeting a dman?

If Ottawa gets Raymond 5th, I think I would be confident enough with their RW depth that I would rather trade for a top 4 D. Sens could use some of their picks to make an impact to the blueline instead of a Winger.

Fair enough. You clearly follow Ottawa more closely than I do and don’t have a clue who their target would be at #5. Think they could go a lot of ways with that pick. But appreciate the imput!

Boeser is nice but Im not trading White with those 3 futures plus taking Eriksson. It's just too much. I don't know what sens fans have laid this ground work lol. There are better ways to spend that capital. A top 4 dman would be priority I'd think

Columbus can not accept. We don’t have much cap room and we can’t take a cap dump at this time.

if we take back loui i think its either 2 of lassi thomson, the nyi 1st, and colin white, then add in the fillers and extras onto that

Sen’s fans laughing at the thought their giving u a first and a second to take the Eriksson contract, Brock’s value is cut in half as part of his value is a sweatner to take the Eriksson contract and not sure he’s going to be worth the 7mil he needs to be qualified at once his deal is up, Sen’s are going to use their draft picks and develop players so they can control their cap for yrs to come.

Also, we don't need two more bottom-6 forwards.

Let's punch three tickets with one trade:
    Montour, Brandon [RFA Rights]
    For
    Virtanen - Mid 6 RW
Beagle - Bottom 6 PK Center
    Benn - LHD
    2020 2nd round pick (DAL)
    2020 4th round pick (VAN)
    2021 6th round pick (VAN)
