<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>Stamkos says no, He's not leaving no tax Florida for high taxed Montreal.</div></div>

not intirely true i'll explain my thougth and then go look at Stamkos contract and tell me what you think .

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markmws</b></div><div>I forget who did the math on another thread, but someone mentioned that the tax situation is pretty overblown.</div></div>

1st part the explanation
2nd part the reason i think why people don't know this even here in MTL.

1st part : the tax on the salarie is 50% one of the worst of the league not arguing that , it's a fact . where it's get tricky it's with the bonus . the tax on the signing bonus is only 15% but i don't know if it's works on performance bonus
here just a few line from the internet page of revenue agency :

Use the following lump-sum withholding rates to deduct income tax:

10% (5% for Quebec) on amounts up to and including $5,000
20% (10% for Quebec) on amounts over $5,000 up to and including $15,000
30% (15% for Quebec) on amounts over $15,000

now go look at how the Stamkos contract is structured .

2nd part : none of the media talk about it . in MTL every one say it's because of the tax and the media (pressure) that the player (UFA) don't want to come here even the media themself if they say that the tax it's not true it mean it's just their fault that the player don't come here , bad for them.
the media of other place don't say it's because it mean MTL have one advantage on their team in that area , bad for their team . or it mean the player reject more money in MTL because he cannot handle the pressure , bad for the player . that just a couple of reason that i see there may be other aspect i don't understand , but that's what i get from it .
