Pretty sure it’s because the the season already started so it’s prorated. Edit: and 57.5 is not divisible by 7

Florida Panthers signed Aleksander Barkov (8 Years / $10,000,000 AAV)

Quoting: drewjenkins

Barkov's average annual net income will be roughly $6,336,000 after taxes. (tax rate = 36.64%)
Marner's average annual net income is currently $5,105,000 after taxes. (tax rate = 53.18%)
------------------------------------
An $8,000,000 cap-hit in Florida would give you about the same net-income as Mitch Marner.
Marner has a lower net-income than Kucherov + Stamkos + Point + Vasilevskiy + Barkov + Bobrovsky.
His after tax salary is closer to Hedman + Ekblad than anyone above (and his cap-hit is $3,000,000+ higher than theirs).
------------------------------------
More info is available here:
https://gavingroup.ca/nhl-tax-calculator/

I think that calculator based 100% of their income in their locality, when in reality they NHL players only earn half their income in the locality they are located. The other half is taxed in the locality where they play away games. And salary bonuses are taxed at the location of their domicile I believe, so Matthew’s for example who only makes 700-800k base salary has his $7-15M annual bonuses taxed in Arizona.

Only bad part is it only buys 1 UFA year. Idk off the top of my head but Makar and Heiskanen deals get more UFA years right?

(LAK/NSH) - 2x draft picks for Arvidsson
Good too 6 guy, especially if he rebounds back to the 30 point goal scorer he was at one point. LA has so much cap space rn and I don’t think dont really have cap issues in the near future afaik even if Arvidson doesn’t improve and becomes overpaid.

Excellent signing, was expecting 500k-1M more. Probably opted out of a 1-1.5M contract for 2/3 years in favor of a one year deal to try and prove himself, given the strong defensive pipeline we have rn.

That's what capfriendly says. I mean the buyout hit lasts for 2x remaining years and he had 4 left.

Inspired by Domi Trade I Saw
Ha, glad you thought my trade proposal was interesting. Think Domi would want at least 1 M more than what you have. He would prolly sign for 6 for a 4-6 yr deal, or a bridge contract for 5.5 or so.

He's a good 4C, and if one of our C prospects proves himself NHL caliber, Uncle Nate can play with the kids in the AHL and be a good mentor.

The Athletics Tarasenko trade idea

Quoting: Lenny7

...but...all the Blues have to do is put him on LTIR, which gives them the opportunity to sign Pietrangelo, and then they can deal with the cap issues down the line...They proved through the regular season that they were just fine without him-why the sudden need to move him for Max Domi (Who will actually affect their cap immediately)?

In this situation the Blues would also trade additional players to dump cap, withAllen being ideal for Montreal.

Le Fix

Quoting: HabsRafiki

Since we'd be dumping Alzner, think of it more as $14M :s . The Habs have an interesting problem in that they have to get another goalie under contract to make available for the expansion draft. Vegas has Dansk and Logan Thompson, so they're covered on that front. Having seen what a rested Price can do, the Habs need to find someone who can carry 30+ games and who might relish the idea of being a hometown hero for a couple of years.

That's true, we do need to have an unprotected goalie. Didn't think about that.

I don't think Gally would leave the Habs in free agency for that much. They easily have the cap space to match 6.5
