Graves Guentzel and Ned

I don't like any of Holloway, Lavoie, or Broberg either so for Dubas he might want to aim elsewhere with a large package like this.</div></div>
I figured Ekholm could switch to the right, I don't see them moving Letang at all with the year he is having. The prospects are underwhelming for sure.
The big advantage here is Pens have less $ committed next season to defense and can add a UFA forward (Like Jake Guentzel lol) + add another cheap forward to not entirely give up this year (Like Kubalik or Duclair)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Big ask there.
Last year I'd have said Yegor or Zetterlund.
I assume you're looking for a young guy otherwise I'd suggest a hockey trade with toffoli.
Holtz is there but I would be loathe to give him up
Holtz+3rd for Pettersson 50% retained maybe (I'm valuing Pettersson here at 1st+2nd, 2nd+3rd for retention and Holtz at 2 1sts, would be happy to swap in picks or other prospects if you prefer instead of Holtz)
-Graeme Clarke is near NHL ready but not sure that's what you're looking for.
My other solution/suggestion would be a 3 team trade where you can use the assets you get from us to buy a forward you want more if possible. Maybe Lundell could be available for a 1st+2nd, maybe Toffoli+2nd could get ryan mcleod if you retained on toffoli? Just spitballing</div></div>
Yup I think this is it, I'd see Pittsburgh more doing Petterson+ for Holtz than retaining, I know that means an extra move for NJ but pens already need to make another move to replace Petterson, no one else can hold down Letang or Karlsson icetime either than Graves (sometimes)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>I do very much like pettersson. I'd offer a 1st+Bahl as a starting point on negotations for him and think he would certainly help NJD
-He can kill penalties
-Has a lot of experience already playing with marino
-Good defensively
-Has term
But NOT at the expense of a Dawson Mercer.
I thought we'd be done with this after last year with Meier, who was a MUCH better piece than any of the other stuff I've seen asking for Mercer or Mercer++ or even still nemec, and Mercer wasn't even on the table for that, and Holtz (who I'm again seeing being thrown around as if he's just a B prospect), who was only on the table if it was 1 for 1.
But alas, nope</div></div>
Fair assessment on value but if the Pens deal him they need a roster forward with upside

Cap is suppose to go up like 4.25m and 3.125m coming off the books from carters contract, theyd have enough to sign guentzel and look at FA or a trade with the rest of the cap space. Overall i think id take the chance smith and graves find their games here then PLD coming in doing what he seems to do best, messing with the locker room.</div></div>
Yeah hopefully all the of increase on Jake's contract comes from Carter coming off the books

Thread:
Joseph for Kubalik
These are both fringe players. Chychrun usually plays on the right side even though he's LHD, this brings the Joseph brothers together, allows them to trade or put Brannstrom on the right side of the bottom pair and sit JBD.
Pens have 3 guys who can play on the left side of the bottom pairing between Joseph, Ludvig, Shea (and then Smith). So they add a fringe scoring forward (which they don't have replacement for if a top 6 guy gets hurt).
Maybe Kubalik can find some chemistry with someone. Maybe he can find a spot on one of the two powerplays. Maybe Joseph can take a step forward with Jacques Martin.
Sens retain the cap because pens can't afford the deal without it + Joseph is an RFA at the end of the year

Huh? You spent more cap on D and less on F?
Then next year there's 3.5 million committed to a guy playing 15 minutes, we need that job to be held by a league minimum player and use that cap to add scoring forwards

I absolutely hate the thought of Guentzel leaving.
If he does though I think this could be a good for for both teams. In my dream scenario we still sign him to 9.5x8 in the off-season

If Puustinen can establish himself on that second line and Rakell can be moved to the 3rd by the time rust comes back. I think this is a great lineup. Nieto can get a look on a line without Jeff Carter but so far I'm more interested in was Zahorna has to offer

Adding another skilled player
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>Ok I’ll amend that to one season. Regardless he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. For one we have to pay to dump him coming off a bad season with 5 years left. Also, defenseman take much longer to adapt to a new team.</div></div>
Understandably with Dumo leaving Dubas wanted to lock in some assurance on the left side but with it being out deepest position I think we should explore the option of moving him, if a team is willing to give him the adaptation time/different play style without it costing us assets so that we can add to the forwards. I agree that it's relatively unlikely though for all the reasons you've highlighted
