Kadri has been the better player this year and has been the best C on the team while playing with two rookies. You're either paying the 1st or Minten for 5 years of retention then the other of the two to get $11M off your books because Calgary has no need for Tavares at this point. So you're left with Tanev for a 5th. It doesn't make sense as a fit for Calgary and it's not enough value for Calgary to take on the financial burden.

1. We're retaining 2.75m
2. Your cap dump is owed 7.2m after this season... keep in mind that a significantly better player in Monahan had just 6m owing on his contract and it took a 1st to dump him.
3. Kuzmenko scored 39 last year, even if it is only an outside shot of him doing it again; it's worth it because if he can score at close to that pace next year, maybe he brings in a 1st or multiple 2nds at next years deadline.
So, you want us to eat basically 10m in salary over the next 3 seasons... I'm sorry but that alone would cost you a 1st+... nevermind giving up the potential of a better return on Kuz
Basically you're putting garnish around a **** sandwich and expect us to still eat it

Yet another Leafs fan who thinks other teams only exist to help the Leafs with whatever lopsided homer trades they can dream up.

No it wouldn't but even if it would Niemela isn't worth a 2nd anyhow.

Yeah Calgary and St Louis pass, Both teams can get better offers on their players at 50% retained. Only decent pieces Toronto has to offer is Knies and Minten the rest don't cut it.

Flames are very clearly trying to get younger and get higher end talent in the pipeline. Jarnkrok with multiple years left is a zero in terms of fit and Timmins is on IR indefinitely.... again. When he's been in the lineup he's been replacement level at best. There's no fit whatsoever with this deal.

Just pick a team that has 3 retention slots available and probably won't use them. Montreal would do it, but you'd have to wait until the final minutes to see if they even have a spot left to use.

I guess the thing for the Hawks is it just really doesnt move the needle. The Hawks dont NEED to take on cap, and if we wanted a meathead in the lineup there are plenty available that we dont have to pay a 2nd rounder for. Pageau will just fill the same role that Tyler Johnson does, who we're trading away, so that swap doesnt really make sense on our end either.

If you are retaining 50% of Nelson, NYR would definitely be interested in him. Reilly doesn't really do anything for us.
edit: they probably also would take NYI up on a 3rd for Wahlstrom.

Both players going to hawks are cap dumps. I could see the hawks getting them, but I would be shocked if they gave up assets to acquire them.

Is This Enough
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WranglerWranglin</b></div><div>I would do it. I think Clarke and Stillman are relatively interchangeable in a deal just depends on what the Flames value more. I would like to find a way to get Bahl in as the Flames are dismantling their D core it seems. It will always boil down to if Conroy is getting exactly what he expects, the Flames have no reason to make the move without getting exactly what they target, if they don't then they just hold onto Markstrom and let him keep them in the hunt and mentor Wolf whether that's right or wrong.</div></div>
I wouldn't. No reason to trade Markstrom unless we are getting a prospect that is actually worthwhile
