The Answer is in the Locker Room

I'll admit defeat if Z is given consistent top 6 ice time with decent linemates. He hasn't been given that since he was a sophomore (during Larkin's worst year) with Brome and Gagner as the other wingers. And he got injured and missed most of the season anyway.
He looked great coming out of TC & pre-season this year but then got scratched for reasons unknown at the start of the regular season and never given an opportunity after.

Random Thoughts - NYR Side
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Root</b></div><div>Trouba was brutal year last year which effected Miller overall stats. Had been cleaning up all of Trouba's mistake. With that being said, he still gets 43 points without being on the PP time and you only can imagine what them stats would be if he was on the PP. It's his Def that really stands out if you watch him.
Laffy is so much better then what the stats are showing. We're under playing him because we have LW Kreider & LW Panarin. It's not because he's not good enough on why he's not playing top LW. It's because of this damn peeking order this Rangers teams has, which is extremely frustrating. Watch for Kreider to be playing 3rd line LW next year. Rangers first line Laffy-Mika-Kakko next year. Then what will the naysayer say now.
That's the different from being a Rangers fan to not being one. Because you didn't know any of this. Miller is a top LD and Laffy is a top LW.</div></div>
I don't expect any team to put a player on their 3rd line after a 35+ goal campaign. I wouldn't count on NYR doing it with Kreider.
Also, there's no way to call a guy who is not playing top pair/line minutes a top LD/LW. That's all hypothetical until it actually happens. You're just being a Homer (fitting PFP, BTW!).

Did you not see the trade? This makes so much sense for DET, even if Karlsson doesn't...
Chiarot + 2nd + 4th is still negative value for SJ
Zadina = 2nd
Sebrango = Gregor
Then it boils down to Soderblom + Veleno for Karlsson + Zetterlund.
If SJ accepts this, they are absolutely insane.

Random Thoughts - NYR Side
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Root</b></div><div>Rangers reject. Miller is a top LD, Laffy is a top LW for Nylander a top 6 C/RW. Robertson and Goodrow have the same value, mind yeah at least Goodrow will play for you unlike Robertson being on the IR.
I wouldn't trade you Laffy str8 up for 1 year of Nylander.
I wouldn't trade you Miller str8 up for 1 year of Nylander.</div></div>
I'm not a fan of either team of any of the players involved. I'm as unbiased as they come here.
Nylander comes with an 8 yr extension, so you actually have him for 9, not 1.
Laf is not proven to be more than a 3rd liner at this point, but has upside to become top 6. Nylander was 20th in league scoring this past year and has 74 G the last 2 seasons, which is certainly top line quality. He can also play C in a pinch while being a RH shot which NYR only has 1 of out of its top 6 wingers.
Miller is a top 4 Dman, but not a "top LD". He could become a 1st pairing LD, yes, but I don't think anybody is expecting him to be a Norris contender at any point (which would make him a "top LD").
Lastly, Goodrow here is a cap dump, actually. Robertson has relatively low value in the scheme of things.

Appreciate the feedback. Wasn't sure where Ducks fans thought they were in their build. Outside looking in, I thought multiple pieces would be helpful, but I get not wanting to lose the opportunity for a high end C.

Sure, but I agree with rednwhite that it's too much for Detroit to give up for Cat. Not that Cat's not worth it, but OTT also doesn't really have much power here to pick and choose where he goes, which limits the value they can get for him.
Of the list provided, the only player I'd remotely consider is Soderblom. But I'm not sure if I pull the trigger unless we keep the 1st, which OTT doesn't accept.

As a Detroit fan, I would love to acquire Miller. However, we likely have our T4 LD set with some combination of Walman/Edvinsson/Wallinder/Johansson. If K'Andre could play RD though.... (or if Ed partnered with him on the right side)

Updated for PIT to add a 2nd.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>canesfan2086</b></div><div>Why are the Red Wings giving the Canes Kubalik for nothing basically after scoring 20 goals?</div></div>
Was using this ACGM to look for fits and how it impacted the roster. I think CAR would certainly have to give up a mid-round pick but there's also the fact that Kuba is unsigned after this year as a UFA, which also has to be considered (since Drury is RFA). Updated to have CAR send a 3rd.

Nah, I don't think so. Petry gets a bad rap on CF but I think he's not as bad as people like to think. Maybe not worth his contract, but is Fabbri? This deal might be off by a pick coming to Detroit but not a 1st IMO.
