Karlsson makes no sense for Detroit. They already have a 1D in Seider. Karlsson probably wouldn't even accept the trade. Karlsson has already said he wants to go to a contender.

I still think you need to retain 25% at least on EK or it can't happen

This is going to be the next Petry to Detroit because the Swedish connection + one of the few teams with capspace.

Maybe in the minority, but I honestly don't want Detroit to target Karlsson. He's a great player don't get me wrong, but he's on the wrong side of 30 and wouldn't be enough to make Detroit a contender anyway. Just seems like it would be sending assets away to get stuck in mediocrity

This is still a bottom 5 team, and you just gave away your 1st round picks for the next two years…

Canes don't need a guy making over 4m to hit 30 points when they can just extend Fast to do the same thing more effectively for half the price. Not to mention giving up our top RD prospect. Big time no.

Karlsson was great this year but it's the first year he was truly worth his cap hit. He's also been terrible in recent years too. No reason for Detroit to take that risk.

Did you not see the trade? This makes so much sense for DET, even if Karlsson doesn't...

Chiarot + 2nd + 4th is still negative value for SJ
Zadina = 2nd
Sebrango = Gregor

Then it boils down to Soderblom + Veleno for Karlsson + Zetterlund.

If SJ accepts this, they are absolutely insane.

First time above a PPG, first time playing an entire season in what, 5 years? He's also 34. He'll be retired when we want to compete.

What's the logic behind gifting Boston 2 top 5 picks?

Not advocating trading for karlsson, but having 2 top pairing RHDs isn’t necessarily a bad thing. That defense would be sooooo good having either seider or karlsson out there for 75 percent of the game

Obviously San Jose is a goalie away from contending.

This is a troll post by an Oilers fan that clearly knows nothing about SJ. Move along.

If Detroit were contending now it might make sense. They are not. Karlsson could easily revert back to being a way overpaid player and prevent Detroit from ever contending. It would be insane to take that risk.

Why in the world is San Jose getting bent over the barrel on this Karlsson deal and sending a conditional 1st with him? Burn this sh*t to the ground

Oh 100 percent which is why I don’t want to trade for him (unless it’s a crazy lopsided deal)
