13 points in 13 KHL games on a bad team at 18 is overrated? He has a higher PPG than Ovechkin, Kucherov, Panarin, etc. That’s certainly an interesting take lol.

The Caps don't have the extra cap to take on Garland but regardless of that they have no incentive to move TvR, especially for another highly paid winger, as Washington already has plenty of those.

In a vacuum, the value isn't too bad going either way, but I think the Leafs would be reluctant to trade a young RHD like Liljegren, especially at this point in his career.

Sooo SJ trade the 4th OA and the 36th OA and gets
6th & 12th
Then deal the 12 for 25th and 29th
So San Jose ends up
6th
25th
26th
29th
If sharks get Michkov at 6th then this would be a clever ploy to get 4 1sts though that 12th would be hard to give up since we potentially could grab Reinbacher or ASP there and with potential trade of Karlsson it would be smart to pick up a player to replace some of his production there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Schmaltz sure.
BIG BIG Pass on that Winnipeg deal. Connor had 9 more points than Necas and is 2 years older and cannot play center. Necas is straight up a more valuable piece than Connor when you factor in Necas makes 1/2 of what Connor does, is an RFA on expiry so still team controlled, and is just a way better skater
If you want to go "oh goal scorer!" he had 3 more goals than Necas</div></div>
Yes, he only had 3 more goals then Marty but that was a down year for Kyle. He is a 40-50 goal scorer. Last year Kyle racked up more assists then usual.

Cooley 5th OA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Yes... One will go at 4 and one will go at 5... Hence saying, "they are in the range".
It's often said, you can team defence but you cannot teach offence.
Both Smith & Michkov are at least in a conversation to be as good or better offensively than Cooley.
So to say there is no chance that the Coyotes entertain this trade is silly, especially since they tried to sign him and he turned them down to go back to College.</div></div>
I mean sure, one will almost certain be available but I highly doubt both. I also think you greatly undervalue how much Cooley has improved over the last year. Lets take Fantilli as an example. Fantilli has a late 2004 birthday which is why he was not part of last years draft and also why he was playing in the NCAA this year unlike Smith. Fantilli had an incredible freshman year in the NCAA, even better than Cooley (who is only 5 months older than him). A year ago both players played in the USHL; Cooley had a ppg of 1.5ppg and Fantilli had a 1.37ppg. This year Smith had a 2.1ppg pace in the USHL. By that logic Smith should be going 1st or 2nd OA this year instead of Fantilli. However you will be hard pressed to find someone who agrees with you because Fantilli, like Cooley improved drastically this year offensively.
As for teaching defense, technically yes that is true. Offense is generally speaking more natural skill and defense is something that is learned over time from playing against that natural offensive skill. However it is still very difficult to learn defensive skills and some people just have a knack for him due to having exceptional positional awareness. I think Anton Lundell is a great example of a player who is naturally gifted defensively and made a big impact immediately, whereas a lot of the other players from his draft and even the year prior with higher offensive skill (Kaapo Kakko who also played in Liiga) are struggling because their pure offensive skill advantage just caught up to them once they reached the NHL.

You obviously haven’t seen Fantilli play! He is the perfect player for sharks to build around! Him and Eklund would be fire together.

It’s hard when the sharks have so many needs to move high picks… but players like Fantilli to pair with Eklund would be a great foundation for our future top line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>eazy_duz_it</b></div><div>Carlsson is 100% going either 3 or 4 but your point makes sense</div></div>
You're right that it's not the point of this post, but am actually thinking:
CBJ prefer the center who actually played center this past season in Smith. Best player available is Michkov, but they will be drafting by organizational need.
SJS, who are going to go deep in their rebuild, will draft BPA, Michkov. He's so much more offensively gifted than Carlsson, so he can be a cornerstone piece of a deep rebuild.
That leaves the Habs with Carlsson by default. I'm ok with any of the 3, but I see it going down like this.

I think that if neither Reinbacher nor Pelikka Sandin are available at #13, then that pick = #28 plus Liljegren. Buffalo shouldn't be adding more.

Buffalo needs to address the RD position, whether through trade or the draft. You could always trade up, but it’s going to cost a pretty penny to do so.
I think
To BUF: Pick #28, Timothy Liljegren
To TOR: Pick #13, Henri Jokiharju, fourth line player
I think this is the better trade. Toronto addresses depth needs and moves up. Buffalo gets the Top 4 defensemen that they need in order to compete.

Honestly, I don't hate that at all. Toronto should strongly consider, although if one of Sandin-Pelikka or Reinbacher are available at that pick, Buffalo should hang onto it
