I don't really know about this particular trade value but there are reports Washington is looking into Kuzmenko

trade
He probably is trolling but he might have added the first on the wrong side of the trade by accident. Miller + Pearson for Andersson and a first might do it, depending on what other offers Van are hearing. Trading from a position of strength and would open up $8.5m in cap for Vancouver which, as we've seen for Seattle and Carolina, can open you up to picking up very good players for nothing.
Yeah it's a troll post but I would like to look into getting Andersson as a centerpiece of a Miller trade

More of the one summer retool all in maybe
Forget not trading to divisional rivals. Any trade for Miller where we get 2 firsts back is a strong offer but Vancouver probably say no because we need right d and those prospects and Dube aren't that.

2nd round or bust
So you've traded a player with a full no trade clause, signed an RFA to 600k less than his management are asking for, traded a solid cheap d for an older, worse and more expensive d.
Being a GM is easy eh?

Leafs 22-23
Canucks would be in tough to meet the cap with that deal. Even if we bury Dickinson it only leaves us $935,833 to fit Sandin in so we'd be in the same situation as Toronto: struggling to get him signed. Would need another trade to open up cap space as well (or to retain $1m less on Miller and then sign him to $1.9m).
I do think the value is fair though, hard to tell what Miller is really worth but I'd go along with that I think.

Wait what? Josh Anderson is overpaid by $2m a year and you think he's worth a 1st plus plus? I would probably pick him up off waivers but he's not worth paying any assets for at all at that cap hit

The OEL trade was more about getting rid of the three terrible contracts that went the other way. It was basically Garland for a 1st and OEL for Loui, Beagle and Roussel.
That aside, no way you can expect to get a 1st for 1 year of Rielly anyway at this point. Maybe if people are overpaying at the deadline like that silly team that paid a first for 7 games of Foligno

Heres what Id do now
You're not getting a pick back in that DeMelo deal, I'd be really happy Schmidt for DeMelo 1 for 1 tbh. Bozak is not better than Dickinson and neither likely sign for what you've guessed. Halak also gets $2m+ somewhere. I don't really want Borowiecki (purely on a hockey level - seems like he's a great dude) but I guess we'll be happy with any Holtby trade that doesn't involve cap retention. No way Leivo comes back after the way he left.
On the other side of things I think Hamonic would be lucky to get $2.5, would hope to get him back at $2. Depending on how long we go on Garland we might get him down at $4m
Bottom line: love the lineup but don't fully agree with how you got there. Might need a different back up goalie and to accept we'll likely have Boyd as the 4th line center and Dickinson will be good at 3c

Is this realistic
I know Sutter is kinda expensive but he kills penalties and Ottawa were 4th last in the league last year at that so could maybe use him. Jake has legitimate top 6 upside as he was on pace to score 20 goals last year and has all the tools but probably needs a change of scenery.
edit: Detroit were also dead last in PK% so would any Detroit fans weigh in on whether this is in any way realistic deal for them to go for?

I think it's tough to give term to Dadonov, Gudas and Vatanen like you have. Setting us up for the same problem we've got with Sutter, Beagle and Eriksson in 2 years.

Leafs 2020-21
You don't seem to understand how this site works. You've been fairly reasonable and, if anything, a little bit pessimistic. What you're supposed to do is wildly overvalue your assets and put together an incredibly lopsided trade to fix everything. I'd try Kapanen for Makar (50% retained) for example.

Agreed 100% Johnsson would be a good piece to add but I think our current team needs Stecher more than Johnsson. If Toronto wanted to add some<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GFD1996</b></div><div>no offence - but all those wingers are significantly worse than Johnsson other than JT whereas Ferland is more of a third line grinder - I think Johnsson would make some real good chemistry with Petterson and could perhaps be utilized on the right</div></div>
Totally agree that Johnsson would be our 2nd best left wing but in terms of asset management I'd prefer to keep Stecher and not have to waive and possibly lose a serviceable NHL winger. This makes the trade effectively Stecher + Leivo/Roussel for Johnsson which I don't think it's good business for the Canucks.
What we need is a trade that converts some of our surplus depth forwards into a pick/prospect. Would be open to trading away Pearson, Virtanen, Baertschi, Goldobin, Sutter, Ferland, Eriksson, Motte, Leivo, Schaller, Beagle or Roussel.

Back up and Stable Defence
As a Canuck fan I feel that value wise Johnsson > Stecher but the problem is we don't really need another left winger, we have:
Miller
Pearson
Roussel
Ferland
Baertschi
Leivo
Schaller
Eriksson
Goldobin
By comparison the guys behind Stecher on the right side:
Fantenberg on his off side
Woo
Rafferty?
Not to mention that Tanev is likely to be injured at some point and I love having Stecher because he proved last year he can step up and play.

McDavid to Avalanche
McDavid may be the best player in the world but MacKinnon is easily top 5 and makes half as much against the cap. I'd keep Mackinnon as you get 90% the player at 50% the cap and you get to keep Makar who is scoring a ppg as a rookie defenseman.
