That trade is the biggest of no's we can give. Marner doesn't fit here. We aren't giving up our core. Any trade from Toronto starts and ends with Knies. You don't want to give him up? Either do we. There's no fit here. Salary doesn't make sense. Assets don't make sense. Value doesn't make sense.

Taking a flyer on the 2nd most productive rookie in the league? Scored 20 goals on split time between 1c-3c and played with grinders. I don't think that is a flyer

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>Is that so?
I don't think that I've seen that from him. Rossi actively forechecks and crashes the net. In spite of his smaller stature and size. From all my viewings of Knies, which isn't extensive, admittedly, he's always been more of a perimeter player. He's strikes me more of a much more offensively talented but still giving off Greenway or Wild Era Coyle has size but doesn't use it vibes. 🤷♂️</div></div>
I've watched Knies a ton. He isn't Clutterbuck or Rempe but he plays pretty smart with his size. He isn't pushed around really. I think he hasn't found his game yet. I think of a Tuch type player maybe not the same production. I don't see him as a 1st line winger when he's done developing but I can see him as a great 2nd line winger maybe with Ohgren and Ek. Thats why I'm drawn to his game. Paired with Ek, I think we see him flourish into a consistent 50-55 point guy and is tough to push around in the playoffs. I would be all in on Knies. Rossi and a 2nd and I would probably do that

Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>I just don't value Holtz all that much.
I mostly just wouldn't trade Rossi unless there's some type of forward upgrade or similar player coming back. Knies is one guy I'd do it for. Obviously the Cutter Gauthier talks would have been good with me. There's plenty of other young guys or prospects, but Holtz is currently worse and doesn't project to be better, as a winger. Marino is what he is at this point, an inconsistent 2nd pair guy. Neither of those pieces excite me more than Rossi and I'd be looking for someone that excites me as much or more than Rossi does.
For the record, I understand why people like Holtz and are drawn to him as a target, he's just not for me. I might be trying to put together a list (thread) of my ideal Rossi targets, but I don't want to commit to that yet.</div></div>
I've been trying to do that in my Mock trades. Targeting guys for us down the road. We certainly don't have to move Rossi. If we aren't going to get fair value for him I would keep him here then. I do understand Yurov may be the 1C we all want. I think Knies or Cutter would have been fun trades. I will admit, I don't see why the hype with Heidt is more than what it was with Rossi. I didn't watch his games either so I may be missing something. Heidt was a lower pick but the point production and size are similar to Rossi. Is it because he is younger and his ELC is just kicking in. Thats another reason we give up on Rossi?

I don't think it's all the fans. There are some bad Wild ones too. I'll be honest, if Toronto wants to mix things up with the core, I'd be fine with trading Rossi, Spurgeon and GusBus. The only return I would like from Toronto is Knies. I'm find with trading Rossi and Gus for Knies and a pick. Maybe we retain on a Marner trade for 1 year so Toronto gets a big piece back. I'm cool with those scenarios. I'm not cool with trading Marner and giving up our core. I'm a fan of the Leafs because there's a lot of similarities between us, but this is a hard no. I think other Leaf fans would agree. I also understand you don't want to move Knies, and thats cool. I just don't think Minnesota will be doing any trades. I also think you have wingers that are more valuable than Knies. Bertuzzi and Domi are 2 big ones. They erased Marchand from that series. Fun to watch

Toronto will eat this alive. I'm torn on the Rossi trade. I would like a different type of player. I'll be honest, I haven't followed Holtz after the Fiala drama between fan bases on here. I know he was very promising but seems to have fallen off. I could be completely wrong. I like moving on from Spurgeon not sure who would want him and what the return would be. I would like to get younger and big in his spot. I like who you've targeted to trade tho. Also that Peart is on the bottom pairing. I would also like to see that

I actually like that Boston fans are interested in Rossi. When I hear what Billy G wants this team to look like, it's the Bruins. Big, fast, physical, gritty and frustrating to play against. I think there are pieces here for a trade. I'm not sure what the trade looks like. BG did say a player in the similar place as Rossi is. 21-22 and has contributed at the NHL level. I'll be the first and say I like a Knies/Guenther trade above all else. I do think if we were open to retooling the back line and Lohrei would fit the bill. I don't think BG wants an unknown prospect and pick. Think about the Gauthier and Drysdale deal. Something along those lines is what he spoke about. If the Wild move D-Men I could see a trade like that.

I see Chesley developing into a league-average to very good 2nd pairing RHD. He’s a very good skater, has a very heavy shot, moves the puck fairly well, has piss and vinegar in his game, is as strong as an ox, and probably has more offensive upside than most people think. He would be the perfect #2 to Faber’s #1. Those two manning the right side of the blueline for the next decade+ would be terrific!</div></div>
What is an acceptable return for Chesley? I don't even know, looking at the numbers he doesn't seem like a lock to be a stud in the NHL or anything. We just have no depth and I wanted to move JoJo. I understand the return might not be what you are looking for but the same thing that can be said about a lot of the prospects and making the NHL. You can pick between Lambos, Hunt, Peart and O'Rourke. We need to move 1 or 2 of them for help on the right side. They are all in the same spot developmentally so you can choose. I think Lambos has a higher ceiling and Hunt is closest to playing minutes

My take on Marner
Honestly, I don't even want Marner on my team. I don't want to pay and the Wild can't afford it. Sure we could afford it and then be in cap hell even longer. I would be more open to the Wild retaining on some huge deal that lands Toronto more value on a Marner deal. Maybe we swing Rossi for Knies and we retain 50% of the contract. This giving Toronto a massive return on Marner and we get our guy. I could see a future contender paying for Marner and having a year to work the cap space to re-sign him. But a straight trade to the Wild is not something I love. Boldy plays a similar style to Marner and he's younger and cheaper so I'll stick with him. Let me know what Leaf fans think of that. Maybe you get a Western Conference team to pay up what you want and you guys walk away from the $11 mill contract. Rossi would allow you to trade JT and get massive cap flexibility to re-sign Bertuzzi/Domi and a better d-core to help push you over the top.

2 sides of a Marner trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WN88</b></div><div>I don’t listen to the SDPN, so not sure what points they made. If you feel that it’s not worth it to acquire Marner, that’s fine and I totally respect that opinion from other fans. But there’s this ongoing notion among the fanbase that the Leafs would benefit from simply having the extra cap space involved in the trade. I personally think that idea is ridiculous. There’s ZERO guarantee that any of the money used from Marners contract will be used on players that will live up to their own contracts. The leaf fanbase doesn’t seem to understand that a 4 million dollar player could be overpaid, too. Like, look at a player like Ben Chiarot, Erik Gudbransom, John Klingberg. Those guys combined probably make more than Marner.</div></div>
I'd run it back then. I don't think the fit on the Wild is overly great. Yes he's talented but with how BG wants to play, he doesn't fit the bill. I don't think the Wild would want to sink 12 mill into him either. Not many teams can eat his salary and give you a return. I'm not sold on why the Wild should go all in on him?

You aren't getting much for Mitch, lets be honest. He's shown to fade in the playoffs, he is going to want a raise and a team has to extend him before he even plays a game otherwise he could walk. I've listened to the SDPN a ton and they all agree you would be glad to get out of that contract. I'm not saying you get future considerations, but you aren't getting a Faber, Rossi and a 1st for him. And the teams that can afford to acquire him aren't going to give up their futures for him. I don't even want him on the Wild period, let alone giving up Faber, Rossi and 1sts that you are thinking. We have our own players that haven't shown up in the playoffs we don't need to add to the list.

To be fair your points were way off the entire time. He played center on the championship team this year. He signed a 1 year to become a more complete player and be more consistent and get stronger. The Wild have 5 centers under contract this year. Ek, Rossi, Hartman, Khusnutdinov and Freddy. Ek isn't going anywhere. Hartman just signed a 4 year NMC. Khusnutdinov has no value as he hasn't established himself yet. Freddy has a bad contract and M-NTC. Rossi is the easiest to move and if they believe Yurov will be a 1c it forces Rossi out of the lineup. I think all fans would like to move Freddy/Hartman/Foligno/Zucc and a few other but the reality is Rossi has great value now and is the easiest to move.

I understand your point. I disagree with him being untouchable for your roster. The untouchable guys to me are Matthew, Marner and Willie and throw in Reilly. Those guys will always keep you contenders and they are younger. I understand that Knies could be a cheaper add on to those guys. I would maybe focus money on the back end to get them up to snuff with the forwards. I would like to hear from you what you would want the package to look like. I would offer GusBus and Spurgeon retained over the next 2 and 3 years for Knies. You would have a goalie tandem of Gus and Woll. Spurgeon goes a long ways on that back end with Reilly. Spurgeon is a 35-50 point guy on the right side and a goalie that could be up there as a Vezna candidate. Does this type of offer move the needle for you as a contender? Maybe throw one of our LHD prospects in because we have a lot of them int he same development spot.

This is interesting, so Knies is GusBus, Spurgeon and a 2nd this year? I think if Spurgeon was asked to be included in the trade, we may need a low level prospect or player on the right side, or remove the 2nd. Seems a bit one sided. I think the value to Wild needs to be a bit more, nothing crazy. Remove the 2nd or add something from Toronto they don't see apart of their future.

Last Year of Buyout Hell
Ok Toronto fans are going to chew this deal up and spit it out. Here's the issue that fans need to realize. Knies was on the 1st line for part of the season with Matthews and only put up 36 points. Based on value and what he can be, Knies couldn't even fetch Rossi anymore without Toronto adding to that deal. I don't mind the trade above and giving a bit more to pry a younger asset from them. I would see if any veteran would be willing to waive the NMC and us retain half on a deal. So maybe a Foligno/Hartman added with us keeping half their contract. But I don't think this trade is as far off as fans will say it is. The Faber for Knies and a 1st is wild. The 25th overall pick and Knies doesn't equal Faber.
Also, every year that goes by without them going for it means they are wasting the roster away. I look at the Penguins as the team that got the most out of their superstars. I think the Leafs need to take the same approach. I think their D-core is pretty bad. Maybe a Spurgeon could help them on the right side. I think getting Knies would be huge for us tho, I think GusBus/Spurgeon could be on the move this summer. We need to get a younger and bigger right handed d-man in there.

The Most Not Realistic Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SimonVenell</b></div><div>First and last trade are terrible for the Wild. Middle two would benefit the Wild but the other teams would probably not go for it.</div></div>
I agree, I've done a few of these mock trades and people always say Wild aren't giving up enough. I'm overpaying a bit to get these trades to go through. And ultimately, some of these guys aren't going to hit. The Boldy move is a massive gamble but Ek and Rossi aren't going to be in the top end of the league in those positions. I think Celebrini gives us the next MacKinnon/Crosby type for the next 15 years. Pair that with Kaprizov and upcoming wingers, I like that start.
On the Sharks deal I really only wanted to do Boldy and our 1st. Heidt is kind of a get the deal done. Not sure if Shark fans have seen the post but no one is saying no from their side.
The Toronto deal was really a Rossi for Knies and a 1st. I want to dump some of that cap space to sign guys like Faber and others. If we get more for Spurgeon in that deal, I would take it. Maybe another prospect or a higher pick than the 3rd.
The other trades I tried to be realistic. With GusBus recent play his value goes up. If we get a 1st or maybe 2nds i think you take it. Zucc for Burns seems like a no brainier. Zucc is still a high producing player. If we could target a right hand defenseman to replace Spurgeon I would take that.
