Check out this guys account and all his comments and find me one positive thing he’s ever said. I’ll wait.
In terms of the trade I think that the Calgary trade is somewhat off but that the Tampa bay trade is pretty close. Even if it’s not, it’s cool that you’re basing it on previous trades and valuations. Would be great to get a first round pick after we didn’t get one at the trade deadline!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike</b></div><div>I wanna work for you ...since you like overpaying players wow... Not trading that much for trouba... I love trouba... But he's NOT an offensive d man.. Not paying him 7M per & giving up that amount of players/top pick for him....not paying Howard 5m per. Maybe 3m per.. Not paying stone 9m maybe 7M per...thus is how we got into this cap crunch by overpaying players... I'd rethink this a lil bit. .ur on right path & destination. But tighten the wallet a lil more friend... Datsyuk not 4M either at His age..I'd also do more incentive $$ for lower cap & tag it for following seasons if they're met</div></div>
What you're saying makes sense but the point is less about how much each player costs. The point is that Detroit can field a competitive roster within the next year while still staying cap compliant. In fact, if I overpayed these players, it only strengthens the point because despite overpaying these players by a million or so, Detroit would still be a good team and compete for the playoffs.
It's fun to imagine what we might get with 3-4 more million dollars in cap space.

As a wings fan, I would love to see you guys resign Mrazek. Based on what you've seen so far performance wise, what's the likelihood that you guys resign him?

Wings move Green, Tatar, Glendening and Ouellet

Honestly I don't know but with some tinkering maybe we could work it out. However the effort may not be worth it if Detroit is only getting a 5th-6th and Oullet will probably not play.

I like all these trades but I think that after the departure of Ian Cole from Pittsburgh, Ouellet could be a good depth defenseman for them. Just a thought.

Massive DET trade
As a wings fan I love the idea of giving away our overglorified winger and retaining half of Green's contract in return for two first round picks in the upcoming (deep) draft. 3 first round picks (and maybe more depending on how the season goes) would be invaluable to Detroit in the long round whether it be keeping them all or trading up to get Svechnikov or Dahlin.

If you're talking about getting 1st round picks then sign Tatar to a 1-year contract and flip him at the deadline.

Red Wings 2018 opening Roster
I like it. If JT sees the potential in a team that wins the lottery, DET could be a desirable destination for him. Really hope that Ericsson either improves significantly or isn't playing by 19-20. We still have those awful contracts of Abby and Luke but I'm sure with a new GM after this season we'll figure it out.

2 trades and one UFA. It's all I ask
I like it, but why not keep Howard? Looks like you have the cap room. I don't think people appreciate how well he did when he was healthy. I hope Detroit gives him at least another year. If he does well, he can be flipped at the trade deadline either this season or next season for more than just a 5th round pick. Other than that, three stars because the defensive corps looks a lot better than before.

What the Red Wings should do
I like to think that you're giving Tampa enough for Drouin but I don't think you are. Plus both teams are in the same division so the price might be a little larger than other teams. Regardless, what an awesome team! All trades seem like real possibilities. Three lines of excellent scoring and a grind line. Absolutely love it. This would be an amazing way to start at LCA. I've honestly thought that a complete rebuild was necessary but a clean out like this could work just as well if not better. Love it. Just love it. I rarely see optimistic and realistic Wings GM teams. 5 stars for making my day.

Wings Deadline Overhaul

Add Abby to that list too! Glendening is a good fourth liner but definitely overpaid. I took into consideration some of your criticism and made some edits if you don't mind taking a look. Not much we can do about Kronwall, Helm, Abby or Nielsen but I think Green and Z could be traded and Ericsson can be bought out. It's all entirely hypothetical because unfortunately we truly have no idea what will happen but I think all the trades above make sense for both sides. Definitely not all at once but it's still fun to imagine.</div></div>
Reason I didn't include the overpaid Abby is because the team does need a little bit of leadership and I wouldn't mind having him as a younger Shane doan type player with the kids. I don't think we'll get anyone to bite on Z in all honesty I would love the carolina trade but I know that won't happen without giving up at least chevy. I think the only other issue I can see besides our d is we don't have any quality right handed forwards up front in our prospect pool or team. We have so many future left handed forwards but we have frk (bust), or Mitch Callahan who I personally love but he's a fourth liner if anyone gives him a chance. In a personal level you are one of the few who can see that blash can only play with what he's got. His "stars" are 36 years old so that's what he has to use</div></div>
Blash is proven successful! Received praise from Babcock! Won in the AHL! Maybe he receives criticism for his defensive system that restricts the scoring chances in return for semi-strong D but when the entire team sticks to the system, EVERY game is a close game. Blash can't run a speed system because the entire team isn't speedy. Blash can't run a tough guy, big hitting system because all he has is Ott and Abby. The way he adapts with what he has is pretty remarkable although it is honestly hard to always appreciate because Detroit can be utterly disappointing to watch sometimes.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wingsfan33</b></div><div>Love the description, but can't see carolina deal, we can only retain 3 salaries, there's not enough room for all of those D on the backend. I would love a fleury-faulk, DK-Manson, XO-Jensen lineup though I just can't see us getting that many players at once because we already have too many as it is</div></div>
Just tossing out some ideas. I think it would be smart to trade Z sometime within the next two years bc his value will drop like a dime but still have a cap hit of 6 mil. I love Z and I understand the skill, leadership and chemistry he provides but if Detroit goes through a rebuild, he doesn't deserve that.
