cap compliant with no trades
the oilers need to be as close to possibe to the cap in order to maximize LTIR. i must say, trading foegele is a much nicer alternative.

even still, u dump benson or waive derek ryan in order to do it over dumping puljujarvi for a 3rd round pick that has zero chance of playing in the nhl in the time of mcd or drats current contracts.

i agree...but at the same time bear has been a 3rd pair dman and was healthy scratched a lot last year. Sometimes the best thing to do is swallow the frog and accept that u messed up

because the sabres want to get better, and the oilers want to get cap compliant? you cant tell me that foegele isnt a better player than anders bjork.
Foegele. 12 goals, 26 points,
Bjork. 5 goals, 8 points.
That would be a massive upgrade for the sabres to make on their 3rd line.
They also get lavoie who is a decent prospect who is afew yrs out from the nhl

Barrie is making 4.5M

have u not ocnsidered that over the last 2 yrs barrie played 6 mins more per night?
Barrie. 20 mins/night
Wideman. 14 mins/night
Barrie HDGF% 63%
Wideman HDGF% 39%
wideman also gets over 72% of his starts in the offensive zone.

Point producing dmen who play 18 mins a night whilst on very good contracts cost a TON to move out. Its way better to sign worse players in free agency for more money. Thats what the market says.
To compare a similar offensive dman see below.
john klingberg in last 2 yrs all situations.
13 goals
83 points
137 giveaways
33 takeaways
XGF% 56%
actual GF% 53%
Tyson barrie in the same situations.
15 goals
89 assists
86 giveaways
33 takeaways
xgf% 59.8%
actual GF% 62.95%
Klingberg just got 1 yr at 7 million dollars.
Barrie outproduced him, and was more effective defensively in all situations and didnt cough up the puck as much as klingberg ( BY A STRETCH) and makes only 4.5.
Give your head a shake if u dont think barrie would get more than that if he was on the free agent market.

vancouver needs 2 more top 4 dmen to become a contender in my pov.
Foegele is a very respectable player with great underlying numbers who got pdo'd this year but should expect his puck luck to improve signifigantly.
Providing foegele and a early 2nd round prospect who is a sniper for a ltir case and a 4th line winger seems more than fair.

PDO 0.969
shooting % of 8% (2% lower than his last 3 yrs)
durable and provides size and speed.
If you need me to explain what any of these mean let me know.
foegele is a great 3rd line player who is poised for a bounce back season after an awful shooting% and sv% last year.

Fudge It
JP is absolutely not a cap dump.
even if you dont believe in advanced stats and analytics you can do the math.
Typically players get paid 100k per point in arbitration.
Last yr he had 25 points in 55 games
this yr he had 36 points in 65 games
that is a 45 point trajectory this yr and a 37 point trajectory last yr (over 82 games). Meaning a 41 point trajectory over the last 2 yrs averaged. meaning his value is well over 3 million.
He is NOT a cap dump.

Trading barzal
I feel like the barzal move makes sense for Lou.
Miller is far and away the better player right now. However Barzal is the right age for vancouvers build and fits in well with thier style.
Signing kadri for 1 yr lets him get some cash in the bank, but it also makes him prove whether the 100 point szn was a 1 off. If his point totals drop he can be signed for much cheaper next szn or let walk.
Nelson, Pageau, Lee and Palmieri are all getting older, they only have a few years left in their window especially with the bottom line guys being as old as they are.
Miller gives them a better shot here and now.

Bob proposes a super line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>a1979</b></div><div>I don't mind the line Bob proposed. It worked well in the playoffs given the state of Draisaitl's ankle, but I think keeping McDrai separate gives the Oilers a better scare tactic against teams that can catch them off guard when down a goal or at 4v4 with more open ice to work with. Still nice to see that, even if they did run the lines this way, the 2nd-4th lines could still hold their own.</div></div>
im not saying i like it.. just something bob proposed. i can see that line having 150 goals.

samourkov requires waivers to be sent down, niemo does not.
Samorukov is more mobile and a better puck mover and has a fairly rugged game, main reason he didnt spend more time in edm last yr was injury
