Leafs are due for a trade
I think it helps Toronto and they get more bodies coming back. Not sure if DeSmith is the solution, but I am hesitant on losing ZAR. He has been a warrior and IMO the best defensive player on this team all year. Unfortunate that he will never put up enough points to be in Selke conversation. I think you can get a better deal for Kapanen somewhere else, though

Rakell
Dang, that's a good offer. Still don't know what Anaheim's plan is with some of their players. I would however suggest not sending a lot of assets for a 3C (as good as Rakell is), Penguins learned the hard way with Brassard. Rakell can play wing I am sure so you might not have an issue here

remaining signings
This is where my mind is at right now too. I think it would be wise to lock up McCann for 4 years, probably closer to a $15m deal if that would be the case though. Also expect Murray to get paid, I would say $5m or $5.5m. Jarry 2yr/$5m is absolutely the right contract, feel like you nailed that one. I am truly unsure what Kahun and Simon should make since they are both RFA, but I would probably guess you're close on both. They can afford to pay their players if they can get rid of JJ or Bjugy so I am actually not stressing it too hard. Will be interesting if they bring in a rental or a player with term.

Imagine how awesome the draft would be if your team had 10 picks out of the first 90. Maaan you would have lots to look forward to. I don't think you overvalued anything. I actually think you could get a lot more for all the salary retention and for taking Ceci. Would be fun with all those picks and your young players

If We Get Kreider
I actually like all of your contracts. All seem like good fits. Not sure Jarry gets that just yet. Will have to see how the rest of the season pans out and how they do in the playoffs. I still think Murray takes back over the goal at some point, so they won't let him walk over the summer. I can see Murray getting 2x4.5 and Jarry getting 2x2.5, or something like that. If the Pens do end up getting a roster player rather than a rental, I believe it will be high priority to ship out 1 of Bjugstad,Hornqvist or Johnson.

What would it take to get Labanc
2020 1st & Legare/Poulin or Kahun+ probably. LaBanc is for real. My family is WBS season ticket holders and said POJ is a great skater but doesnt have the skill right now. He is still young and Dmen seem to take a bit longer sometimes so hopeful it pans out but not appealing to other teams yet.

Line up after break
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bigZ98</b></div><div>I think this team needs a trade for a top 6 player before the bye week ends. We need another legit top 6 winger to play with Sid. I love McCann, but Im not sure he can be "the winger" on the first line. He is more of the complimentary winger type right now at least. He might do better on the 3rd line as he has shown before. I think a top 6 winger like Saad, Krieder, toffoli, or Zucker is needed with crosby and simon</div></div>
I don't see an immediate rush to fill the top6 role, but they definitely don't want to wait too long where players start going and they are left with little to be desired. Prices are still probably too rich for the Pens to bite on, and luckily with how well their December went they bought a little extra time. McCann can play, and I think if the Pens were to hold their hand until closer to the deadline, these are the best lines they can roll.
Very much into that third line. We have seen how good the others have been, but Bjugstad & Hornqvist have always complimented each other well and I am still holding my breath for a Galchenyuk breakthrough. Maybe not an unreal tear, but atleast contributing on the PP and some snipes.
Only thing I want to change is the D pairings to get Jack Johnson off Letang's pair. Not a fan of Schultz playing with him either, but they have done it in the past and Letang needs a break since he has to fly/play in All Star weekend :D

trades aren't lopsided IMO. I feel that Minnesota would prefer Poulin or Legare over Hallander since he has been out all year with a leg injury. Poulin & next years second is a good package. Not sure what other teams would be willing to offer above that.
I have often tried to see if Schultz to Anaheim would work, but I think they are set at RD as of now and they can always wait til off season to go after him if they were interested. Kase is an enigma, he has all the skills to be a great winger but is pretty goal dependent. He also costs nothing for his production and I am sure any team would like to have him. He isn't worth a first rounder, but definitely has a price.

Rakell Replaces Guentzel Only way pens move 1st rounder
Screw it, if the Pens win the cup in 3 years give them a 1st rounder! But seriously, I would love Rakell. I am sure all 31 teams would. That is a very steep price, but I understand why you offered it. Do you think Bryan Rust would get this kind of an offer? Statistically, they are very close in comparison over the past 3 seasons. How awesome would it be to have 2 Bryan Rusts in the lineup?!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsTalkNHL</b></div><div>I do not think it is necessarily giving up on Murray. If Jarry keeps it up, it is clear that hell be the long-term option. I love Murray and appreciate everything he's done here in such a short amount of time. The way I see it, we need to move one of them before the Seattle expansion draft, since I do not want to lose another sick goalie for free. Let's say we keep him past this season and he puts up similar numbers next year, his value won't be high at all, but well be forced to make a move because of Seattle. If we move him in the summer, we can still get a solid return because of his age, credentials and potential. One bad year is something he can bounce back from for sure, but two years will really lower his value. Sure, next year could be an awesome year for him and he brings up his value and the Pens could do that, but they'll have to sign him to a contract and I am worried about the cap space.</div></div>
Very good point about the expansion draft, kind of forgot that's on it's way. Yikes, I guess you're right. You did mention to keep him through this season so I guess I can live with only a few more months of Muzz :(

DO THIS NOW
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR_Mike</b></div><div>Easily, hallender is a decent prospect but you would have to include a first, not a second. Bjugstad is a capdump and rangers cannot take on anymore cap as is.</div></div>
The only issue is that Kreider has a NTC, and it will be hard to get this kind of value for him. Also the reason why I think the Rangers will hold onto him rather than get less than they are asking for. Bjugstad is most definitely not a cap dump, though. His line was our best line at the end of the season last year and even though he is soft for his size, he still is an above average 3C. I like having the options to play different players at Pens 3C, but I think Bjugstad is the perfect fit.

Did some nice work with the salary cap and getting JJ off the books, but I don't want them to give up on Murray yet. Having 2 solid goalies isn't a bad thing, and I am not so sure Jarry will earn $3.5M after roughly 60-70 GP. Murray got that deal after winning two cups, but I agree that they should do a similar deal for Jarry. 2 first round picks would be very nice, though ?

I don't see any trade for Laine working unless the Penguins give up a key cog. Only thing I can really see happening is Guentzel (awful idea IMO), Letang (imagine how bad the defense would be?), McCann+ (would have to be a high draft pick and still would have to clear cap) or Addison+ (wouldn't love it and would also have to clear cap)

I liked his game last season and the fact he was able to come back and play the rest of the NYI series after going hard into the boards was insane. I just think it's tough to justify paying $4M for a guy who is only going to play bottom 6 hockey. He still has value too which is probably why people are trying to send him out via trade. I'm okay with him staying, but should still be cautious and look for cap space any place they can

Penguins fans- What do you think
The value you offer isn't a low offer but Pens are pretty stacked at forward depth right now. I really want Stecher, and I know you guys are working on a Boeser contract and have to be conscious of Pettersson's next contract, but is there anyway to start a trade around Stecher? It's so hard because every team can use dman and there is only so much money to move around. I would offer Schultz in a trade though because I think he will deserve a raise next year and don't think Pittsburgh willbe able to give it to him.
