Van definitely does well here. Reinhart is a huge upgrade on garland, plus the cap flexibility this gives van is huge. That Oel contract is terrible, we’d be lucky to move it. This is a good trade for both sides

Staal will probably take a cheap deal to stay on a contender where he has roots down, if not Drury KK Necas behind Aho is fine. Patches can go chase more money if he wants, if he likes it here and performs he’ll take a cheaper deal but canes aren’t going to pay a 30+ year old a big extension. Skjei has had his career revamped here but if he wants to cash in then good for him. Pesce they’ll spend on, he’s a core piece. Freddy will get an extension offer for a couple years but they won’t blow the load on him - Koochie will be ready and they can find a 1B if needed.
You mistake frugality with a solid valuation methodology and framework.</div></div>
How has the Canes FO shown that know what they are doing, when they have underperformed in the playoffs almost every year?

an 100 point player definitely could have made the difference against the Rangers. They desperately needed goals, if he had 4-5 points in that series they easily could have won.

So no, I don’t watch Vancouver games often. Look, I’m not the one who came up with the stupid proposal. If you are incapable of handing the inevitable flaming you would get for this crap, don’t post it. It’s that simple.</div></div>
You don't have to watch them, I'm just saying there's no wonder why you are undervaluing our whole team if you think Pesce is worth more than everyone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Just because the Canes could “easily” resign Miller doesn’t mean that they will. Canes have no interest in giving Miller that absolute albatross of a contract he wants, and if the Canes did, one of either Turbo or Skjei would have to be sacrificed. Canes aren’t going to sacrifice Turbo or Skjei just to give Miller money. Myers isn’t a good enough replacement if Pesce were to be traded, and Hoglander’s play really doesn’t give the Canes much hope. And might I remind you, the Canes were the only team to shut out Colorado at all this past season, so they can hold a candle to them. The Canes don’t need a 2C, since they have KK. He was on pace to break his best totals in MTL with 4th line minutes and less than stellar linemates. He will be much better with more playing time and better linemates, as indicated by his 1.5PPG when playing with over 15:00mins TOI in a game.
Believe it or not, the Canes don’t need Miller. Plus, they don’t want him. And even if they did, they would be paying for a rental, which means Vancouver isn’t getting Necas, Pesce, or any first rounders.</div></div>
Canes definitely need a 2C if theyre going to compete against the top teams. It doesn't 'have' to be Miller, but this is a definite hole for them. KK isn't gunna cut it.
You don't think Miller will get at least a 1st and a good prospect? Which is pretty standard for a high quality rental.

Laugh your ass off all you want. You obviously don’t know anything about how the Canes front office operates. Your proposal was **** and you’ve been called out by numerous Canes fans regarding it. Might want to take that as a clue.</div></div>

Because they are absolutely in win now mode, and bringing in an over a PPG player might push them over the edge. You may disagree with my proposal thats fine, but this is going too far in the other direction lmao.

Canes aren’t trading Necas and especially Pesce, let alone either of them straight up for Miller. Miller over performed last year, and he not worth giving up anything more than what DeBrincat got. And he should be getting less than DeBrincat just based on age alone. You may have watched every Vancouver game, but you clearly only watched 2 Canes games, and those games were against Vancouver. And Canucks fans wonder why Canes fans are fed up with these stupid proposals. There isn’t anyone on the Canucks roster the Canes would be willing to trade Pesce. Miller will never play a game in a Canes jersey since the Canes aren’t going to pay the price that Vancouver wants for Miller, and the Canes won’t give Miller that contract he wants. Jeez, and I thought Montreal fans were bad. At the very least this isn’t as bad as a couple of Leafs fans. Yet.</div></div>
Well you clearly didn't watch many Van games if you think Miller had a fluke year. He's had the 12th most points in the league the last 3 seasons combined.
I watched a number of Canes games, including playoffs. They couldn't score for jack, so goodluck beating Toronto, Tampa, Colorado etc. in the playoffs then. "there isn't anyone on the Canucks roster the Canes would trade for Pesce" are you serious??? How do you not see that that is way overvaluing Pesce? You can disagree with my proposal, thats fine. But thats taking it too far haha..
That might be the most ridiculous thing I've seen on here.

You aren't getting anywhere near Necas or Pesce from us bc we aren't going to be able to extend him.</div></div>
For sure, I was trying to use Myers as a somewhat replacement for Pesce (obviously Pesce is way better). I just felt it needed to even out because Miller>Pesce in value, and the Canes desperately need offense if they want to take the next step. Might be worth a stab at Miller

Fine then, I watched Carolina in the playoffs and they can't score. This is what they would need to push them over the edge; make a sacrifice from Defense to Offense. I know it would be expensive, but may be worth consdering. If Carolina trades Pesce that would give them ~8 Mill to work with. Not saying they should do that signing, but it's not completely out of question.

Teams that are not going to sign JT long term are going to pay his RENTAL value.</div></div>
We don't have as much cap flexibility as Carolina, thats why. And yes, just because we can't sign him doesn't mean he shouldn't get fair value for how good he is at a very good cap hit. Also, Pesce only has 1 more year than Miller does, not like there's too much difference there.
Why can't Carolina consider signing JT long term?

Miller is an 100 point player, and myers at 3 Million is a very positive asset (I watched every game last year, hes a solid defenseman just way overpaid at 6 mill).
Pesce is a sound 2 way D, would be a great fit with Hughes. At this point, Canucks have given up more value still. Then I add in Hoglander who has a lot of promise, for a more bonified young player in Necas (RFA rights). If anything, canucks are probably giving up more value here. How is this bad for the Canes?

Boeser and rental miller is, in my opinion, very close in value to Nylander and Liljegren. Added Kampf for cap reasons. Miller is not worth as much as a lot of canucks fans think, with just 1 year left ( and leafs will not be able to re sign him ).
