Miller is an 100 point player, and myers at 3 Million is a very positive asset (I watched every game last year, hes a solid defenseman just way overpaid at 6 mill).
Pesce is a sound 2 way D, would be a great fit with Hughes. At this point, Canucks have given up more value still. Then I add in Hoglander who has a lot of promise, for a more bonified young player in Necas (RFA rights). If anything, canucks are probably giving up more value here. How is this bad for the Canes?

Why do you want to trade a 100-point player? Maybe it's because you don't want to own his next contract? So, do you think Carolina wants to? The answer would be NO. So, they are not giving up a 27-year-old top 4 RD with 2 reasonable years left on his deal for a Miller rental. Teams that are not going to sign JT long term are going to pay his RENTAL value.

We don't have as much cap flexibility as Carolina, thats why. And yes, just because we can't sign him doesn't mean he shouldn't get fair value for how good he is at a very good cap hit. Also, Pesce only has 1 more year than Miller does, not like there's too much difference there.

Why can't Carolina consider signing JT long term?

I have no time or desire to teach you basic math, figure it out. JT's value is less as a rental than to a team that has the cap room AND desire to sign a 30+ year old to a long term, expensive deal.

We probably won't be able to extend miller, and i'd pick Pesce and his contract over Myers at 3 mil ten times out of ten. Pesce's one of the most underrated players here especially by nucks fans. Most we'd give is a B prospect and a couple picks at the deadline as a rental. You aren't getting anywhere near Necas or Pesce from us bc we aren't going to be able to extend him.

Fine then, I watched Carolina in the playoffs and they can't score. This is what they would need to push them over the edge; make a sacrifice from Defense to Offense. I know it would be expensive, but may be worth consdering. If Carolina trades Pesce that would give them ~8 Mill to work with. Not saying they should do that signing, but it's not completely out of question.

They can just trade Gardiner and have the same amount to work with without giving up a top 3 defenseman on the team.

For sure, I was trying to use Myers as a somewhat replacement for Pesce (obviously Pesce is way better). I just felt it needed to even out because Miller>Pesce in value, and the Canes desperately need offense if they want to take the next step. Might be worth a stab at Miller

I know Im not saying you trade Pesce to 'free up' space, but I'm pointing out that if my trade went through, Canes would have room to work with. You're right about Gardiner, but you have to give up value in order to get a player like Miller.

Miller has a one hit wonder season and now he is worth the world? Yeah no. Canes aren’t trading Necas and especially Pesce, let alone either of them straight up for Miller. Miller over performed last year, and he not worth giving up anything more than what DeBrincat got. And he should be getting less than DeBrincat just based on age alone. You may have watched every Vancouver game, but you clearly only watched 2 Canes games, and those games were against Vancouver. And Canucks fans wonder why Canes fans are fed up with these stupid proposals. There isn’t anyone on the Canucks roster the Canes would be willing to trade Pesce. Miller will never play a game in a Canes jersey since the Canes aren’t going to pay the price that Vancouver wants for Miller, and the Canes won’t give Miller that contract he wants. Jeez, and I thought Montreal fans were bad. At the very least this isn’t as bad as a couple of Leafs fans. Yet.

They brought patches in for nothing to be that goal scorer. They’re not giving up an asset like pesce to get a rental player. Miller is good but last year was a career year for a guy entering his 30s and due a big contract. That’s not how Carolina does business and they can find other solutions if patches doesn’t work after this year. Pesce will never be included in this type of trade. Point blank.

Agree with most of this. I’d do it for EP tho 😂 but rightfully so nucks fans would be going bat sh*t if that was suggested

2 years of Myers at 3 mill and Hoglander are also included. Canes need a 2C, Kotkaniemi, Staal or Necas isn't going to cut it if they want to take out Colorado. Miller elevates the top 6 and power play significantly. Necas is good but he's nothing special. Also Pacioretty and Staal come off the books the year after so Canes can easily re-sign Miller and it would be worth it

Why would they?

He’s a rental to them. Necas is 7yrs younger with 4 yrs of team control.

Time to come to reality chief. No team is giving Vancouver anywhere close to your sad fantasy returns.

Well you clearly didn't watch many Van games if you think Miller had a fluke year. He's had the 12th most points in the league the last 3 seasons combined.

I watched a number of Canes games, including playoffs. They couldn't score for jack, so goodluck beating Toronto, Tampa, Colorado etc. in the playoffs then. "there isn't anyone on the Canucks roster the Canes would trade for Pesce" are you serious??? How do you not see that that is way overvaluing Pesce? You can disagree with my proposal, thats fine. But thats taking it too far haha..
That might be the most ridiculous thing I've seen on here.
