Can we say that Arizona signed this guy since it starts when his NHL team is named Utah?

What was the rush to sign him long-term???? Sorry but this guy is a 3rd pairing dman. Hate the risk to this.</div></div>
He already has some of the best defensive numbers out of all the dmen in the league. So not sure what about that screams '3rd Pair'.....

Chicago Blackhawks signed Alex Vlasic (6 Years / $4,600,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ste_Catherine_Street</b></div><div>Be my guest, by all means 😊
At 100 games played dmen are still developing. We'll see.</div></div>
You do realize that he played the #1LD role the entire season and ended with playing 25 min a game and had the highest DPS on the team including veterans like Seth Jones and Connor Murphy. They eye test proved it too. Went up against the hardest opponent's night in night out and he played well.
Let's rephrase this from the MTL perspective. How pissed off were you when Caufield got his contract? He had what...120 games under his belt vs 97. They're both 2019 draftees. Being a defensive Dman is effort based, where scoring can be hit or miss. $4.6M per when the cap is increasing the way it will be is amazing.

I mean, look at players like John Marino, Mikey Anderson, Rasmus Andersson, Jakob Chychrun, Brett Pesce, Mattias Samuelsson, etc all have gotten this type of deal and excelled, Nikita Zaitsev is about the only player who has gotten this type of contract and not done well. Vlasic had a really good year and Chicago has all the cap space in the world, when they'll be competing, they'll be glad to have a solid top 4D under 5mil

Solid contract, look at players like John Marino, Mikey Anderson, Mattias Samuelsson, etc who've signed this type of deal, Chicago has all the cap space and once they start competing getting Vlasic at 4.6 will be huge

Philadelphia Flyers signed Ivan Fedotov (2 Years / $3,275,000 AAV)
He's had a great KHL career, but this is an insane bet for a guy who came in and stunk the place up for 3 games. Could totally work out, but it's just as likely he's Russian Mikko Koskinen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>He's played 3 NHL games and has a .811 in them, what???</div></div>
From Anthony DiMarco :
<em>I know the Fedotov AAV is higher than expected, but the contract was agreed upon prior to the player coming over from Russia.
I'm told that the contract had to be a certain number to get Fedotov to come to North America.
Not ideal, but understandable given the circumstances.</em>

Vancouver Canucks signed Vasily Podkolzin (2 Years / $1,000,000 AAV)
Who is voting no? He's still an RFA at the end of this contract and it is a 100% buriable contract. He's solid defensively and got better in that regard as the season went along. He's snake bit when it comes to scoring, but if he can to bounce back to his rookie season then this contract will be worth it.

He's still young and has time to grow, I think giving up on him so soon would've been a mistake, so I think this is a good move by VAN

Vegas Golden Knights signed Noah Hanifin (8 Years / $7,350,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>This contract is a pretty good example on how tax advantage is much smaller than most people think given his offer in CGY was for 7.5. Like yeah it totally exists but it isnt really anything to get antsy about and claim it to be a massive factor. 0.15M is roughly the gap.</div></div>
This doesn't make sense. The tax advantage is substantial and much more than $150k.
The difference for Hanifin each year making $7.35M in Vegas vs. Calgary is $640k take home:
Vegas (taxed at 38.9% from https://www.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Nevada): $7.35M -> $4.49M take home
Calgary (taxed at 47.6% from https://ca.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Alberta): $7.35M -> $3.85M take home
If Hanafin stays all 8 years in Vegas, the total take home difference between signing in Vegas vs. Calgary is $5.12M. This would mean Hanafin would have to play over 9 years in Calgary to take home the same earnings as he does in 8 years in Vegas.

Minnesota Wild signed Jack Peart (3 Years / $925,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>Minnesota is quietly assembling one of the best young bluelines in the league. Peart is so so good and I really hope to see him play with Faber. Moves the puck so well, and has such a good feel for the game. His IQ is immediately noticeable, second only to his skating. Getting Peart in the second round was such great value for Minnesota, and he is going to turn a lot of heads in the NHL. I've been super impressed with Peart's game in my viewing of St. Cloud.
Like I said before, Peart - Faber has all the makings of being one of the most elite pairings in the NHL.
The only thing that would make Jack Peart cooler is if he was related to Neil Peart, but alas</div></div>
He's a tough kid to project; opinions are all over the map, but I'll always bet on "high IQ, elite skating" types any day.
Chisholm, Lambos, Peart, and O'Rourke all competing on the left side in Minny behind Brodin/Middleton and eventually take over will be interesting to see who emerges.

On the positive side, it is 100% buriable.
On the negative side, it will be buried 100% of the time. I don't even know if this player is fit for the AHL.

If it was illegal the NHL would have disallowed it. Teams can’t just make a trade without going to the NHL first. It’s a process.

AHL Trade Deadline isn't until friday. Both players can't play in the NHL this year, but neither have a legit shot anyways.
