Kuznetsov has been a tirefire this year. If he becomes a positive player, it will be one of the biggest turnarounds in NHL history. Washington is gifted $3.9 Million In cap space.

Low risk, high reward move. If he bounces back, this is an absolute steal.

I don't know if he will fit, but at the end of the day, it only costs you a 3rd

This is kind of a high risk high rewards, but I do like it for Carolina, could add a lot of offence to the team.

If there is any team that can offer a situation for Kuzy to turn it around, it's Carolina. He's been horrible for the passed 2 seasons, so clearly the Canes are hoping for a massive resurgence, but at only 50% of his deal I guess its not too bad. Extremely risky, but hey, when has Carolina ever shied away from that?

Even with 50% retention, the absolute maximum I'd spend on Kuznetsov is a 7th round pick.

You can even make the case that Kuznetsov with 50% retention has negative value.

Washington wins the trade.

Surprised Caps got anything for him even at 50% retention. Thought he would get bought out for sure

Biggest winner of this trade is Kuznetsov.
He's lucky that he's getting another chance somewhere, especially on this team

Washington got rid of a problem (distraction) + cap space
Hurricanes could end up with a good center depth center (or even 2nd center if he returns to his old form)
I voted fair deal in these circumstances.

This is wild. They think he is the same the player he was 6 years ago? Also don't forget he is a finesse dynamic player; has always been a complete liability on defense. I can hardly imagine how he can fit in their system. This is either a massive failure or Waddell is a genius.

I think the Canes are the best team for Kuzy to turn it around. Rod the Bod is going to be demanding, but the team defence is strong enough that I think they can cover up for some of Kuzy's deficiencies while allowing him a chance to get the offensive mojo back. If it doesn't work, the buyout isn't the end of the world. They could even pay a Chicago to take on the buyout for them in the summer a la Josh Bailey if needed.

How can the same organization go from an amazing trade to an awful one within 24 hours?

LOL

If the Canes wanted him so bad to burn a 3rd Rd pick at least they should have went full Rtard and get another team to pay %25 for a 4th Rd pick.

For under $2 million would be fair market money value on him, he is on par with J. Drouin.

Shocked that we (Caps) got anything in return for Kuzy, let alone a 3rd. Saw a JFresh card recently that had him at 1% WAR, and as someone who watches the games, that seemed generous. Dude has been a disaster for the last couple years.

This is classic cap friendly overreaction. Kuznetsov could walk in and be an X-factor in the Canes pursuit of a cup. And here everybody will have said they lose the trade. For a measly third. Sometimes there is no sense of reality in this site. It's a fair deal.
