I agree, Edmonton would match this offer, but not much more. I first read 8 million per 7 years and I think that would be an offer, Edmonton wouldn´t match.
This offer for Drai isn´t possible, only 7 years, but this would cost the Habs 4 first rounders.

Totally agree with Nate, this contract would give Edmonton some space for the next few years. And I think that Drai could live with this contract.
If his ppg will be the same the next years, he will get a $7.5 million + contract afterwards.

I´m not sure about this Draisaitl signing. If you want to give him $6.5 million than he has to sign for at least 7 years. I would try to sign him for a bridge contract, 3 years, value between $12.5 and 14.5 million.

As a Habs fan, I wouldn´t do that deal. The value seems to be fair, but this deal would fix one hole but open up two others.
I´m not sure, if Edmonton would do this trade.
Swinny´s comment about RNH is a very good idea for a #2C. I have done several trades Edmonton/Habs which would see RNH in an Habs jersey.

I disagree that Chucky is 1st line center. (I think he'll end up becoming a solid 1st line winger when all is said and done) But I would not give him up for an aging Giroux. If Habs trade Galchenyuk it better be for a player of similar age (Huberdeau, Drouin type players)</div></div>
Totally agree with Blazingbat11.
But your intention is ok, Habs need a #1 C, if they want to be a contender. In my opinion you are really overpaying Beaulieu. My maximum offer would be $5 - $6 million for 2 years, $7.5 to $10 for 3 years, or
maybe, if he steps up in the play offs $12 to $15 million for 4 years.

Connor and Leon will both be UFA´s in 5 years. Leon hits the UFA one year after minimum of 7 years because he didn´t reach the necessary numbers of games in his first nhl season.

I agree with you that Leon had problems to drive a line as C. But I think the real problem is that the Oilers do not have a first line right winger who can keep the pace with Connor.

And I can´t see the consistency in your trades, e.g. Laine straight up for Taveras ( winger for center) but Chicago should deal Panarin + Hjalmarsson.

Very plausible but still dream scenario in 18-19 - Tavares signing.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>
Lol I like how you wrote out the rating instead of actually <strong>using the rating system</strong> haha.
As for Tavares, really? What are our other options? Everyone keeps saying its too expensive, its this, its that. The guy is a legit superstar center. No ifs ,ands or buts. We haven't had one since I can't even remember.
What is the single biggest problem with this team? Center.
Whats is the hardest player to get? Top line center.
Who is our best center right now? Phillip effing Danault. Galchenyuk might never be center in the NHL.
I don't understand how anyone can say anything but "give him a mountain of money and be done with it"?
The team above not only has depth at all positions but is young, fast and capable of beating any team in the league. Period.</div></div>
Well Marco, I agree that JT is a top center and I agree with your statement about our centers.
But read your own Team Explanation. As you said, you might have to move some of your guys, to resign your young guns. And the following year the cap trap will even be greater.
Tavares 12, Price 10, Pac and Weber combined at least 15, so you use nearly half of your cap for only 4 guys. Do you really think, the other guys want to play for nothing? I´ve nothing against paying good money, but in my opinion you have to look at this as a whole. This is the same like your signing of Radulov for $7.75 million per year. Yes, Habs need Radulov, yes he is really good. But this contract would force the Habs, to give Pac at least $8 million or let him go 2019.
Look at Chicago, after the resigning of Toews and Kane they have the cap problem every year. And they are very lucky that Keith doesn´t get the money he really deserves.

Hm, nice roster, Price a little bit high, but I´m not sure about JT. Because I´m german I watch a lot of Islanders games too (Greiss and Seids), and I really like JT, but I wouldn´t give him $12 million per year. In my opinion he will stay with the Isles and will get between $8.5 and $9.5 million per year.

Modest off season?
Marco, what will be your protection list and would you sign Radulov before or after the expansion draft?
2.) The problem for Vegas will be, they will get several similar offers from other GM´s. And I´m sure, they will not have the cap space to take them all and I be afraid that this offer might be not enough.
4.) Ok, I would rise the 4 year deal up to $6.5 maybe even $6.75 million
6.) Hm, this is the same problem Habs had with P.K. Subban. Why was he signed for $9 million per year, one year earlier Letang signed for $7.25 million per year. If someone offers such things, they have to accept that the other guys want to be payed. I really like your Galchenyuk contract, but in the past, MB made some really scary contracts.

Hm, interesting ideas but still not a contender.
1. Your cap raise would be fine, but I think the cap will be around $74 million.
2. The Vegas "draft" would be nice but I think, Vegas won´t do this one.
3. Markov for one more year is ok, but only between $5 and $5.25 million
4. The Radulov signing is extremly high, I accept the length of the contract but at least $1 million cheaper. I personally would prefer a 4 year deal between $5.75 and $6.25 million.
5. The Beaulieu deal is ok.
6. I´m not sure, if Galchenyuk would sign this contract. 6 for 6 would be signed but I believe, he will request about $6.5 for your 8 year contract.
The problems are that the Habs still won´t have a real top 2 LHD (I´m not sure, if Jordie Benn really can play top D pairing minutes), another top 6 center and a second line left winger.

Habs free agent situation - what do you guys think?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>
Fair enough. I'm not disagreeing with you. The question was what would you do. You answered it. Although to be honest I would do 7x3 for Radu. Habs will have to not sign Markov and then let Plekanec go. Emelin as well. I'm ok with that. Price will get a 2-3M increase. Pacioretty is a question mark but even if he commands 7-8M, by that time Habs will have a bunch of other contracts off the books as well as a higher cap ceiling to deal with so Im not worried.
Signing Radu for high cap but short term is the best move IMO. Giving him an extra 1.25M per year so that we only have to sign him for 3 years is totally worth it.</div></div>
Marco, even if the Habs don´t resign Markov and let Plekanec and Emelin go, they have to pay the guys who will replace them. If the Habs want to content, they have
to sign a top 6 center, a second line left winger and a top 2 left hand defender. This will cost them at least $12M and with the rising of Galchenyuks contract, they will
have nearly no money after resigning Radulov for $7M.
